Maybe in my next life. I have ridden since the 1950s. Almost all street and discovered off-road late in life. I am now 78 and oxygen is an issue. Again maybe in my next life.

I would love that! Probably not bad for finding a doctor if needed since 2 of my American doctors are Indian.

Bruce Johnson im 19 years old and still have got everything ahead of me but i find it to be very difficult and stressful to plan long distance motorcycle trips abroad, which kind of deters me from going on one in the future

As someone who recently rode through much of Laos on a KTM 990 Adventure, I can tell you that neither my bike or a GS is much fun on dirt roads compared to a single cylinder dual sport bike. The GS is much more at home on large open highways found in America or Germany.

I have the 2014 R1200gs and the suspension is not very good. I have mine set to softest and it feels very jolting to go over even tiny bumps on normal roads. Like you said the GS in not meant for off-road, it's a road tourer, nothing more. I doubt if the GSA would be that much better even with 21 inch front and nobblies. Simply too heavy to do anything fun off-road.

Great video and travels through Laos. The people there seem to be very warm and creative. Maintaining their traditions yet connecting with the world, the Elephant hospital was a great find. Thanks to this video, I would like to visit Laos someday. I had the pleasure of sitting on the new GS and pushing it around a bit at the Intl. Motorcycle Show in Chicago last weekend, the bike feels comfortable and ready to go!

Hello! Automatic, when a motorcycle was reversed, what is the round one which was being loaded onto the back carrier?
@b5thomas711 жыл бұрын
good point. I think the strom is a good compromise between something like a klr 650 and the GS.

It is a restricted area but you can get in there if you're lucky. You can also get shot there if you're unlucky. A friend and I almost drove in there by accident but were luckily stopped by local militia. An Australian mining company in the vicinity later told us about several shooting incidents that sometimes bothered their employees. They only drove around with Lao Military escorts around the area...

That is a sobering video. Thanks for pointing to it. I was not aware of what's happening to these people and it's a stark contrast to this video of driving through Laos on motorcycles. I hope and pray that there is justice for the Hmong people in the future, but it will take brave and selfless people and governments to do that.

I did a lot of motorcycle trips in Asia, also in Laos. With a light 250 (Honda XR, KLX) it is much better to drive there. This is a marketing video for BMW which intends to initiate the great adventure feeling that you buy with a GS. Btw - no one needs the amount of luggage there.

What an amazing trip... And so much contradiction... One of the poorest countries in the world ridden with one of the most expensive motorcycles...
@allenlloyd39719 жыл бұрын
i agree totally with alex schwarz"s comment , i too have riden all over asia and this video is just a marketing vid for a very expensive motorcycle . adventure motorcycling is firstly about the adventure and secondly about the bike ., i would do that trip on a 250 dirt bike any day rather than one of those
@user-pe6lh3sx5f9 жыл бұрын
Of course its a marketing video, wouldn't you want to market and show off a new product? lol. I have ridden all over asia as well. I have owned many bikes from dirt to street. I can tell you this. A 250 is great for an hour ride. A month or longer trip, there is no comparison! Have you tried the new GS? Its great. Even if its not your favourite its still a great bike. The whole "this bike is better than that bike" is just a bunch of bs pub talk.
@allenlloyd39719 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you Lee of course they have to market there new products . I travelled western Nepal on a 220 and it was the perfect bike for the job , I have no doubt that the 1200gs is an amazing piece of engineering but as I said it's not about the bike it's about the trip . I'm not a rich man but I have ridden all over india and south east Asia and the reason I can do it is because I do it on a small / cheap motorcycle preferably what the locals ride , I try not to get involved in the my bikes better than your bike pub talk rubbish . ride safe fella
@user-pe6lh3sx5f9 жыл бұрын
Im with ya. It totally is about the adventure not what bike you do it on. I wasn't directing the pub talk comment to you. It was more just a comment I thew in because it seems like a lot of the comments on these videos are just that lol. Asia is great to ride on a scooter! lol. Safe riding to you too!
@allenlloyd39719 жыл бұрын
Listen to this then Lee , I was in the pub with some friends and one of them said to me " I'd really like to do that Vietnam bike trip you did " I said cool I'll put you in contact with
@allenlloyd39719 жыл бұрын
With the rental company I used , then he asked "what bikes have they got ? " little 200cc Hondas , why I said " because I want a KTM 990 adventurer " he said . That was to years ago and he still hasn't done any motorcycle trip whilst in that time I've ridden Nepal and northern Thailand . This friend has been riding about 20 years longer than me and I think the furthest he's been is the TT .

comment commenter le Luxe d'un " aventurier " qui est assez riche pour se faire livrer sa moto par avion au Laos ? je suis perplexe et désorienté ! Je ne peux pas admirer ce genre de roadtrip de luxe
@T3aventures Жыл бұрын
Salut Datsun. :)
@dat8r1 Жыл бұрын
@@T3aventures ok ...

But That was not the secret CIA base and it's air strip in LOng chen, because it's strictly restricted area. Lao people are very nice and friendly, but the coverment is pretty fucked up! Check this videoin youtube" HUNTED LIKE ANIMALS" Eyewitness account + filmed ATTACK " The Hmong people where and are hunted down like animals, while you where merrily driving a round there!
