2014-16 Seadoo Spark Most Common Failure / New Project. Fixing the Crankshaft Coupler Correctly

The Seadoo Spark had a Major Flaw design, the main drive coupler isn't replaceable. The coupler being a wear item should have never been welded to the crankshaft.
To fix it requires replacing the crankshaft. I'm a good mechanic and was hoping to think outside the box and create a different fix using a LoveJoy connector, but the Hull design of this Ski will not allow it.
So I'm going to fix it correctly and document the journey for anyone to use as a guide! Comments are Live & Questions are always answered if your a subscriber!

U did good, probably have it done for 1500 whipping it out on the lake, im looking at one right now. U got Torque specs for that shaft cover right on the engine block i don't want to mess up

Are you able to replace the crankshaft without taking the whole motor apart?

Would it be possible to put a pin through the coupler and shaft? You would still get the freeplay unlike welding

I researched every possible direction it could be repaired & maintain reliability. This way was the only way. Remember to pin a crankshaft, your forced to drill threw hardened steel. That's probably not going to happen.

What is the company that you could send the crank shaft to and they will send you the fixed one?

It was in Australia. I have a local guy doing mine. If he does it correctly, I'll ask to share his business name. That way anyone can send it to him here in the U.S. (east coast). I have everything, just waiting for the crank now.

@@gustavoperez7764 my crankshaft is still at the machine shop... My suggestion is that you buy an oem 2018 crankshaft. If you heat the fat end of the output shaft & use a 2 or 3 arm pulley puller you can actually pull off your old output shaft. Its not welded on, it's sweated on. So heating the end helps it swell & will pull off. I didn't know this before hand. But I've seen a Vid of someone who took it off that way.

how can i make sure that my pto is bad? i have a 2015 seadoo spark with only 40 hours never ridden in salt water. it was riding really good the whole time i rode it then parked it for a bit and next time i took it for a ride it was revving up and making a slight noise but not going over 8mph. i thought it sucked up some rocks but i took apart the jet and the Wear Ring and Impeller has no damage at all. it was full on gas. i have no idea why this happened if anyone has any knowledge on this please let me know

It's a sad and common issue. That's why I made this series of Videos. A cheap fix would be to buy the line-up tool & weld the shaft to the pto after you have set the line-up. At this point, your shaft & pto are junk, so welding is a cheap alternative, but most don't recommend it. I chose to do it correctly and it was very costly and time consuming.

I think this just happened on a 2015 spark , just about 40 hours , out no where doesn’t go above 8mph and after around 8mph just sound like the engine revs high but the it’s stripped and is spinning

Watch the Vid I made on crankshaft repair. You can send it to my local cnc guy & he's setup to fix it. He's done many already. His info should be in the comments or videos description

My parents have the same jet ski but it is seised up I was on it when it quit working I have taken everything off except the timing chain and drive shaft or whatever you call it but I have some questions if I could call you

Actually my machine shop just finished with threading my crankshaft. I'll be assembling it soon & uploading the content over a few different episodes/steps.
