People who say this is a dressed up Accord, it's not. I've ridden in lots of the new Accords as well as two different RLX's. The RLX is a true luxury car. It's fairly close to the 2010 Mercedes S550 I rode in. And that's saying something. These are extremely nice cars. I'm only 22 but want to test drive an RLX now. Maybe around my birthday, December 25. September 5, 2015 4:29 am

While I agree Acura has struggled a bit to find its place as a luxury brand.. there is no doubt that they make absolutely reliable and superb vehicles. This RLX is very, very nice. Just about everything in there is soft touch it seems and those sun shades are a nice touch.

My friend's wife recently purchased a 2014 ACURA RLX with the ADVANCE package. Very luxurious and quiet automobile. The KRELL audio system is superb!

I know Acura is struggling, but people saying that they should stop making cars and Honda should pull the plug on Acura is absurd! Acura still sells a lot of cars, and with new models on the way it's only going to get better.

I believe this car is grossly underrated. Maybe it's the design. But it's a well-made, good-performing, spacious, luxurious car. it's unfortunate that it appears Acura is only offering Ebony and Seacoast colored interiors, so this white-ish interior (which is my favorite) is not available.

I did not notice how nice this Acura is until you have shown that modest night clip shots of this car and it is very precise. The door handles illuminate to give the overall ability of the car a nice look at night and not to mention the LEDs so beautifully lit and bright. What a nice review on a nice car.

Love the review. Nice to see every nook and cranny of the RLX. Acura definitely did a good job with the interior while going with their current corporate look, though the exterior could use some revisions on certain lines.

to all the folks who say they want the lexus gs the acura rl/rlx is more like the lexus ls just go out and drive them and you will so the gs is more like the lexus IS. the lexus LS is nice but costs more.

The interior looks surprisingly very good... Anyway, is there really so much interior noise from the wheels and road bumps? Sounds a little bit excessive in the video.

that's exactly how my car is :p I drive a 2005 acura tl with the 3.2 V6 vtec and it's super quiet under about 4500, then upward of 5000 it gets so much louder.

lexus's infotainment is crap. even hyundai (genesis) surpassed them. lexus, acura and infiniti all 3 of them have a lot of work to do with their infotainment system.

Alot of people must forget that this car will be a badass with that sport hybrid system. And despite all the criticism this car gets, it will always be better than a cadenza or Taurus, from previous comments.

Bad roads and sensitive mic is my guess. One of the good things about the RLX is that it is a bank vault of silence, according to the reviews I've read.

It would be pretty sweet if you guys did a night drive as well. Just to give us an idea of what the interior and lighting looks like at night. It might be hard to film though, not sure how the head mounted cameras you guys use pick up light.

I can see that if you talked about the other models like the TSX or the old RSX or the last generation TL. But this the RLX and Acura's flagships have always been more Lexus like than sporty.

It's really expensive but if you get a Mercedes or bmw you would end up paying for parts that's worth allot sip might as well pay 50 grand and use it for at least 20 years so I say it's worth it

In every car video I read comments about simply getting the best value for their money. And I certainly am one of those people depending on what I'm shopping for.But when it comes to cars exceeding 60K dollars you are most likely in the 6 figure income class (if not please re-evaluate how you spend your money). Having said this it's my contention that you have to go with the car you personally like. You will not miss the money if you're satisfied w/ the purchase even if your car is not the best.

It sounds like theres too much road noise for a car in that category. I know Acura generally goes for the sportier side, but the RLX will never be "Sporty" lol. I would assume that a 5 series or E Class are quieter.

I agree with some of the comments i'm hearing on the price, Acura need to start at 40 grand base to be more competitive in this segment i like the car but i will not pay 48grand for a base i will buy the TL fully loaded instead,

The dashboard design should have been a little better for $60K. And I don't like the way you can hear every bump in the road, IIRC the cabin was even shaking a little from it. No air suspension?

Acura has not changed a bit to me,, they're just following in the footsteps of their competitions from Cadillac, Buick, Lexus and Infiniti... the RLX is meant to compete with it's front-wheel drive competitions like the Lacrosse, XTS, ES350 and soon to M (from Infiniti). If want sporty luxury from these brands go with their sporty models like the TL, GS350, CTS, G(now Q50), and Regal!

You know what I think cars like Acura and Lexus should stick to the future design, but lately I have check out the Mercedes Benz new S-Class and it seems like they have disappointed me with the revolution looks instead of the classic s-class looks. Thous far I think Jaguar, BMW, Audi, Lexus, as the best designs

You're right. Lexus is a brand that produces cat food. Good thing you reminded me. Also, you have no proof that my statement is false. You just say it is. I have a friend who worked as a tech for Lexus as well as a tech for Acura, and he would always complain about how the Lexus's had cracked engine blocks, and many of the parts that they were replacing on the cars, were stamped parts from China. At Acura, non of this exists. Also, it's a FACT that Acura has less issues then Lexus.

No AWD gas power version either! Who want a hybrid that has lithium battery pack; 2 electric motors that is front wheel drive base AWD model. Acura need to go back to having an AWD - front wheel gas only model. Acura you are out of your mind to intro such a car and leave a big gap for people who want a AWD regular car. Nobody wants a FWD only in a luxury sedan.

You have one example. This is known as a severe lack of population validity and would be laughed at as an experiment. Many parts of many things are made in China. You have also just done what you had a go at me for doing. According to Whatcar?'s brand reliability ranking of 2012, Honda was 1st with 10% failure rate, Toyota & Lexus were 2nd and 3rd with approx 17%. I am not debating that Honda/Acura are reliable. But the fact you say Toyota/Lexus are "shitty-ass" unreliable is an absolute joke!

this is literally an accord with a few more interior leather accents thrown around. it has the same infotainment, the same interior layout, same EXACT exterior side mirrors, similar gauges, steering wheel, signal stalks, etc. Why would you pay 60 grand for one of these when you can just get an accord V6 with identical bells and whistles. acura by far has to be the lamest "luxury" car company out there, all they do is take hondas and dress them up a little. I mean think about it. They are all FWD and almost every acura product utilizes the same 4 cylinder motor and powertrain used in honda products...I never understood why Acura's cost upwards of 30 grand when they are essentially hondas underneath.

Lincolns are Fords underneath, Lexuses are Toyotas underneath. Infinities are Nissans. Cadilacs are Chevys. Audis are Volkswagons. Its the normal workings of the auto industry. Have a few platforms, several vehicles built off any given platform, some luxury, some cheap. Make more $$$ on the luxury, make less on the cheap. Hopefully when all is said and done they've turned a profit.

Yes but Lexus does an extremely good job at differentiating themselves from Toyota. I sat in a few Lexus's at the auto show last year, and I was extremely impressed. They had just an extreme feeling of solidity and quality. If I didn't have any background knowledge on Lexus, I would have never guessed it was made by Toyota. But when I sat in the Acura's, they all literally felt like my family's 2013 Honda Accord. The TL, TSX, RLX..they all had that same Accord feeling inside. Like the interior was practically identical. You could easily tell it was an Accord with one or two extra bells and whistles tacked on, just by sitting inside it. The thing about Acura is they really don't have a whole lot to offer that Honda doesn't already. That's my big gripe with Acura. Where is the luxury. What do they bring to the table.
