Thank you sir! Saved me a ton of time. The Haynes manual said I need to remove the steering wheel to get to the ignition switch on a 2103 Acadia, so I was planning to do that until I saw your video. Got it switched real quick. Thanks again!

Got quoted like 700$ plus at dealership.... 500$ at a local locksmith to replace a 30$ part that can be done in 10 minutes. THANKS! for giving me the confidence to do this on my own!

My issue if you're asking me was a FAILING BATTERY. Took awhile to figure out why electronics started randomly messing up including the ignition not shutting the car off, thought it could be BCM but ended up being a battery that was barley good enough to start the engine but not good enough to run all electronics and computer systems the way it should've. Crazy that the failing battery caused that but that's what fixed it for me.@@DanjaThaWriter

Very helpful in my 2012 Enclave. Intermittently would not start without pushing in the cylinder.

After trying many different things, the problem was in the passenger side fuse box, the water was getting in and it damaged many of the connections, I also cleaned the ignition cylinder using graphite grease and it helps, like I said I tried a lot of different things. Good luck bro.

@Seth Crawford I put silicon all around the windshield and it works for me, no more water getting into the fuses box since then.

@Seth Crawford I saw on Google this guy with the same problem and he came with the idea of putting silicone, but it is like a liquid silicone that fills every hole all around the windshield.

My parents car is having an issue maybe related to this. Their 2012 traverse will just shut off going down the road and then take a while to start. Looks like there was a recall for this for the 2009-2013 models but we are being told it's not part of the recall. Looks like this is the issue because like I said it has no engine light and you're going down the road and it will literally shut off as if you turned the key off. After about 15 minutes it will start back up. Then run for a bit then shut off again. Vehicle is immaculate new battery and everything.

Just found this video, my experience may or may not help, but may help someone else. I had a 2012 GMC Acadia (same thing as the Traverse/Enclave/Outlook) that did this same thing to me. I got stranded in Utah for almost a week while the dealership tried to figure out what was happening. Apparently it was caused by a bad motor mount. When the transmission shifted gears, there was too much engine/transmission movement due to the bad motor mount which was stressing a component/wire and the car would lose all electrical functions, exactly as if you turned the key off. However, in my situation, the engine didn't always die/stall. When it did, I was unable to start the vehicle back up and was unable to remove the key from the ignition. After they replaced the motor mount, the issue went away.

I just changed mine and tried to crank it, but now it won't even attempt to start. The lights cut on but that's it. I followed the instructions to a "T". Is there anything else that I may have missed? Like reset something?

Maybe take switch out make sure it’s lined up , maybe turn key back and forth while pushing switch to help get it lined up

1st you need to get the battery fully charged and test that it’s good , then remove crank relay and make sure getting key voltage to relay will holding key in start position, ones hot with key on one should be hot in crank position
