The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk model exemplifies Jeep 4x4 capability with a distinctive, aggressive look, backed up by Jeep Trail Rated hardware, for the most capable Jeep Cherokee model and the most capable mid-size SUV in the segment. The Trailhawk includes as standard equipment aggressive approach and departure angles, complements of the unique front and rear fascias, one-inch factory lift, Jeep Active Drive Lock with locking rear differential, skid plates and signature red tow hooks. The locking rear differential is selectable in any low range terrain mode, but will lock automatically when in certain modes, such as "Rock," to maximize tractive effort at the tire patch that can support it.
The Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk boasts an approach angle of 29.8 degrees, a departure angle of 32.1 degrees and breakover angle of 23.3 degrees. Running ground clearance is 8.7 inches.
The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk model with the standard off-road package is Trail Rated. The "Trail Rated" badge on the Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk indicates that the vehicle is designed to perform in a variety of challenging off-road conditions identified by five key consumer-oriented performance categories: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation and water fording.

You nailed it man! I'm with you, I like my old beater Jeep, but for what this thing is I think it's great! And just think, ten years from now people will be beating on these new cherokees the way we do with our old ones.

I've sure gotten used to the look of it now. I actually like it now. The only thing I would change is maybe lowering the taillights 2 inches down the liftgate. Looks great offroad...

Sorry to break it to the fanboys, but I have a loaded Overland that can tackle plenty and the smaller Cherokee Trailhawk is no joke and better than any of the other SUVs even NEAR it's class. On top of that it's comfortable enough for real road trips and qualifies as a worthy road car when it's not tacking heavy snow and mud. Fin and finish is LIGHT YEARS better than the older Jeeps.
@tshirt87
@tshirt87 10 жыл бұрын
I would not say years better. Sure the new jeeps are refined on road but the old ones were never intended for on road pleasure and they still drive very well.. That's not a win to gloat about for the new cherokee. Also, these new jeeps have already seen their share of service department time working out bugs. The 4.0 is a simple beast, I've owned two and still own one. When something doesn't work on my old xj I hit it with a hammer (literally have) and I'm on my way.. no service departments for me. You may enjoy it but you're not breaking anything to the fan boys. We don't care if it can out perform a Hyundai off road....
@robertshatner3744
@robertshatner3744 10 жыл бұрын
Sorry, but I'm tight with the Jeep service dept. director for this area. Critical component failure on new Jeeps is WAY lower than it once was. Part of this is due to superior manufacturing processes and QC levels. Sure, a more complex car has more to break, but the reality is that these newer cars are better handling and safer along with being more capable. A 2014 Sahara (I owner one as of a few days ago) is a far better driver than the pile of bolts 1991 I used to drive and it's amazingly good off-road or in deep snow. The new Cherokee really has nothing up against it for 30K or so. People who want an old Jeep can still buy a old one or get a base Rubicon or Sport Wrangler and refit it as you wish. The Cherokee is another market entirely.

Robert Shatner You're right on point with both your posts, Robert. For an awsome web site on the new Cherokee go to www.jeepcherokeeclub.com. It's only for the new one, and the member posts have been an eye opener. All the stuff about the shifting problems and Jeep's fixes, accessories like a winch bumper, rock rails and roof rack, ordering proceedures...a lot of posters there are ordering them with just the stuff they want and that's how I'll do mine too, in about 18 months. Even the hood decal on the Trailhawk peeling, little stuff like that. Mileage figures, it goes on and on, I love it. So yeah, the highway performance is important to us, we take two 1800 mi road trips a year, and several smaller ones so ride comfort and mileage figure in as well as capabilities. I've been doing these in our F150 FX4 and will be glad to relegate that fine truck to ground pounding, hauling and towing and give it a rest in between. The Wrangler is in a class by itself and the Cherokee wipes out the recent mistakes Jeep made with the Compass and Patriot and offers a viable new class they can be proud of. The fine old XL is the past, and a real good one. The KL is the future and I'm in. I'm too old to fix shit with a hammer anymore.

Jeep is a off road vehicle since the world war. Just because is smaller doesn't mean it sucks..this might be better than patriot..i think with off road tires and off road bumpers. V6 4x4 will do fine for my mountain biking experience a little off road adventure..I'm still waiting on Chevrolet Colorado....Either Chevy Jeep or might go to a Honda...

Call me crazy, but I like it. I like my lifted 98 Cherokee too. I think you could probably throw some 31" duratracs on and have a blast. If you want hardcore offroad, stfu and buy a wrangler. For this vehicles market, it is great. Do you really want a 16-17 mpg cherokee again? Who wants to take a brand new vehicle into the bush anyways. I see a lot of pretty wrangler sitting around without a scratch on them. This will be a great family vehicle that can get off the beaten path when needed.

I'm from India and I was very excited that jeep is coming here after 50 yrs and was planning to buy a grand cherokee but after some searching I found out that it has a wading depth of 20 inches only and not at all reliable. I have a pajero and a lx470 I want an off-roader in the same vein. Now I have my doubts

The looks of this Cherokee is extremely different. I agree with those who question a car based chassis SUV as a real Off Road vehicle. Specs can look good but does it actually function as a off road Jeep? Take this Vehicle and show me that it can keep up with the Wrangler. Add the diesel that the Grand comes with then you might have a decent rig with fuel economy.

I'm going to buy a new SUV this coming spring. I would love to get a Grand Cherokee but it just out of my price range and I need something with better gas mileage... this new Cherokee would have been the perfect choice but I cannot stand the front end of the Cherokee. This is really a shame cause I do like the look of the other Jeep vehicles. Not sure what the designers where thinking using such a radical design, not a good way to launch a new vehicle.

this vid didn't show what it could do sense its a new rig im sure its more capable then this, I just hate seeing jeeps with out a solid axle. I would never personally buy a jeep with out a real axle just like I wont buy a truck with out a real axle. I will give up a hair on ride quality for a stronger and better off road axle. This new Cherokee will have 0 after marker which is what makes the wrangler an amazing rig.

1) you can't mod these newer Jeeps because of air suspension so offroaders have really no use for for them. 2) Jeep is known for offroading. These models kill all offroading vibes and you can tell they are made in china now

Jeep is still unique and they aren't changing what they are known for...the Wrangler. I don't mind the new Cherokee. All the other companies are trying to copy the best. Look at the Toyota 4 Runner it's boxier and can be sprayed out with a hose, reminds me of my Wrangler. The uniqueness is being copied.

Blake Davenport yea man you got a point, their new vehicles just look too fancy, like range rovers, if i owned one id feel like id be afraid to scratch the paint haha it just seems like a car for taking your kids to football practice if you ask me. im not doubting its off road capabilities, it can probably be a monster with the right stuff done to it

Rippy Longstocking I'm actually liking the fancy the aspect of it. It's the reason I bought a Liberty back in 2004 (before they became butt ugly boxes). I like the off-road (and sh*t weather) capabilities without the need to look "rugged". My Liberty is still running with over 205,000 miles on it. I don't plan on running it through rubicon, but I need a reliable car I can drive to work every day as well as handle the bad snowy weather, allow me to drive all over my property and take camping. This car is perfect for me and with any luck I'll buy one in 2014.

I'm done with the Jeep brand. My current 02-KJ and 09-KK will be the end of the trail for me. All Jeep has done with this version is ensure the loss of more market share then they will gain. So, good luck jeep. Hope the new market your going after isn't sick of X-overs by the time you step into the street (and that's where this vehicle should stay).

I don't mind this vehicle. Unlike most people, I like radical design features on cars. I even like the Pontiac Aztek. However, this should NOT bare the Cherokee name. This should be the next gen Jeep Compass. The Cherokee should look like a rugged SUV, not a cross between a Nissan Juke and an ugly 90's concept car.
