This is a tutorial on how to replace a tail light bulb in a 2014 Kia Forte EX (4 door). You will need:
- Socket Wrench (I use a 1/4 inch drive in this video because its smaller)
- 10mm Socket
- Socket wrench extension (optional)
You will also need your tail light bulb which is a 2357 size, which can be found here:

Its possible to make the bulb swap without removing the assembly. For guys like me that have large hands, its better to remove the assembly because it makes it a little easier and ensures that the bulb doesnt get damaged during the swap.

My advice is DO NOT remove the light assembly to change the bulbs. The access panel is there so that removal is not necessary. The Kia Forte is known to have issues with water leaking into the assembly, causing the brake light bulb to blow prematurely. Evidence of this is often seen as overheating marks on the connector. Removing the tail light assembly increases the chance of not having a proper seal between the assembly and the body panel. If there is no evidence of a leak, why take the chance? Of course, if you are constantly replacing bulbs you should look for evidence of overheating. If you have burn marks then you probably have a leak and SHOULD remove the assembly to seal the leak. I have even seen leaks after the dealer replaced the gasket between the assembly and the body. Again, if you don't have a leak all you have to do is unscrew the bulb and replace it big hands or not.

Can u use clear bulbs for both? I took mine out and it happened to be red

Do you have to take out the full assembly? Or is it possible to just switch the bulb without having to remove the tail light assembly?

I found it easier to remove the assembly as a whole because the opening was too small for me to remove the socket and effectively get to the bulb.

No, the assembly does not need to be removed. Also, if anyone else is watching...check your trunk for leaks (it pools under the liner) --> the taillight housing can leak and need to be sealed.

Very true, like i responded earlier, i removed the whole thing because i have big hands and couldnt get in there very easily. As for the leak, i can vouch for that. Check that!

Recently we had that same issue. We had to remove the assembly and reseal the gasket that attaches to the assembly. We bought a whole new gasket and used some permatext to seal the gaps on the assembly and between the car and the access panel. So far no leaks.

Why on earth would you unscrew all the bolts, when the lights just twist out from assembly.....

Because im a man. A man with large bear-like hands that cannot bend the way that the Korean hands can, thus making changing the bulb your way alot more difficult than just taking out a couple bolts.

UMM, all you need is your 10 digits and away you go or you could go the long way . first jack the car up now puncture a hole in the gas tank . next open your eye's under the gas stream .next now try and change the bulb
