I highly recommend getting a warranty with a used Maserati product. If you are torn between the Quattroporte and the Ghibli, the Quattroporte offers far superior build quality in the interior as well as more rear legroom. The twin-turbocharged 3.0l V6 in this S Q4 model is the perfect motor as it provides a near-identical sound and sensation as the V8 found in the GTS I tested.

Yep the warranty is pretty much a must with an Italian car and will probably pay for itself 2 times over during your ownership. The good thing is that these cars have been out long enough for any major known issues to be properly documented and it can be maintained at a good European independent shop (just make sure warranty approves of the shop). Given that the car has depreciated so much you can budget for the higher maintenance costs.

Really nice and honest review! It's definitely an exotic and relatively rare brand here in the US with some swag and prestige for that reason, like you said. These things first piqued my interest when I watched The Sopranos and saw one of the mob bosses with a new Maserati, telling Tony "It was always a dream of mine to own a fine Italian sports car," Lol.

What's behind your "get a warranty" comment, when almost all of your video content was highly complimentary? (I've read general comments on Maserati reliability/cost issues, but nobody seems to give specific examples.)

I remember looking at a Quattroporte at an auto show, and loving it. There’s a guy who comes to where I work, and he has a Ghibli. Definitely not worth the extreme price in my opinion, but the Quattroporte is. As you say, the interior quality is not good. I think I’d rather have an XJ for the same price & mileage, as more luxury is what I desire, rather than sport. Great review!

I think the LS motor is smoother and does not make quite as much of a racket and also gives you smooth power delivery vs this throwing you into the seat. But in the real world both are almost the same in speed they just deliver it in different ways. The interior is a trillion times nicer in the Lexus

Hey nice look at this Q4 my Lawyer has the 2018 and have been fortunate enough to go for a run in it. For the weight they move pretty quick and is incredibly comfortable but has had a few issues with the transmission and a couple of electronic problems. They are quite expensive here so there rare, I've taken him in my LC but he struggled to get in and out because of to many lunches I would say. Still I'd be happy to say I drive a Maserati but for me nothing competes with the growl of my Lexus. Thanks Kevin.

Maserati is back with a great Super Sports Car the MC20 but I like this Quattro. also and yes Kevin the most important thing is if you want to buy a older Italian Premium Car you need a good warranty, thanks Kevin.

Your 'feel' for the subject, without any of the pomposity of some other "experts" on KZfaq-and always couched in the appropriate levels of respect for the product is refreshing, and also allows the viewer to make good objective opinions. Far from any numbered rating system (that always seems incredibly stingy, even for the very best cars ever built), one gains a true overall knowledge of the vehicle under review. They're both at the lower end of reliability but since you're getting a warranty it's ok. Jag drives better but Maserati has better prestige both interiors kind of suck but at least Maserati has a good infotainment and better leather

Yea you seem to like the best handling/driving big body cars so the BMW 7 series would be right up your alley. Cadillacs drive great too like the CT6 but idk if you're interested in that

Honestly I would get this car. Well the refresh version. The Chrysler switch gear doesn’t bother me it’s old Mercedes switch gear actually not Chrysler. The newest Jeep and ram does have a way nicer modern interior and that’s where Maserati falls short.

Now the new Grand Wagoneer and grand Cherokee is out they’re slowly unmarking Jeep which is easy due to the high demand for Jeeps, wranglers can sell over 60k and the trackhawk can reach 100k. I’m waiting for the 2024 electric charger hellcat and hopefully a new viper or hellcat Pacifica.😂😂😂

Great Review & True That on the Quattroporte over the Ghibli model. If only for the high quality ZF transmission which the Ghibli isn't equipped with. Great looking cars but there's literally hundreds available at bargain prices. Be prepared however, you do need to purchase an extended WARRANTY on these vehicles. For example an oil change will set an owner back around $400 alone at every service cycle. I believe it takes 12 Quarts of Full Synthetic. Bottom Line ? Know what you're buying ! 🔜 💲 💲 💲 👀

My old supervisor got a new one of these in black the same time his co-worker bought a new blue bmw. When you look at this car from the side or rear is looks like a Buick. The front is def aggressive however. You really have to be obsessed with brand names to get this car. Like Gucci wallet, Prada shoes, drinking Pelegríno, ect haha

We’ve had 2 quattroportes, a “09 and a “21 we just got, both have lasted over 120, the old one had a coupe of issues in the beginning but we got lucky lol!! The “09 was no warranty, the new one has one, but I’m excited

A friend and I sat in the back of one of these at an auto show a few years ago & it was very spacious. We’re both 6’4 & slim and were back there for like 20 mins chatting ! Black interiors suck !! The Cucio or Sabbia interior color would’ve brightened things up….and as far as reliability…I’ll take a Jaguar over this !

@@ascott2168 I am honestly shocked. I thought highly of these cars for over a decade. I thought they were prestige. I'm learning now not to fall for the glitz and glamour and remembering the saying whatever glitters ain't gold. I felt the same way about Mercedes Benz too. Until I had close friends financing instead of leasing them. They've regretted it due to high cost in maintenance and repairs. It's honestly heartbreaking how high the cost is. No wonder they depreciate so quickly.

Yea that's also true for sure. The payments after 36 months may come out to be more than $35k so some may want to buy used like this with low miles I can understand both sides but I do prefer leasing

If you were like everyone else, you would buy: E Class, 5 series, Audi A6. If you were highly educated, you would buy: GS, S90. If you liked something different, you would buy: RLX, CTS. If you didn’t want to live like a schmuck and hated ordering Italian food in Ohio like ketchup with egg noodles labelled as spaghetti with marinara sauce, you would want a Maserati Ghibli.
