Sending off my ECU to get flashed for the new exhaust and figured some would like to know how easy it is to get to it.

Is the BIN code of the ECU located on that sticker that is on top of the ECU box? I'm going to take my MT-09 to get it flashed at a local tuner and he said he needs the ECU's BIN code in advance so he can order me a license for the flash. This way I wouldn't have to remove the ECU and send it to him but to take the bike to him in person because he is also going to do the 6000 mile warranty service to the bike. I didn't see any markings under the ECU when you removed it so I can only assume the code is located on that topside sticker.

There is a small sticker on the underside of the ECU. Not really sure if there is the number you need on there though (since I don't have the bike anymore, or else I would pull the tank and check for you). It's is a little strange that he needs that code, like he is trying to flash it with a car tuner though.

The flash is made by Woolich Racing, you can check them out from Google. Apparently they require the code for insurance purposes. To keep track on what sort of software they sell and to which bike. And of course the main reason for this is that they are able to collect payment for each license they sell so that aftermarket tuners can't just flash numerous bikes with the same license for free. Each ECU has a different code that is required to get a license for a flash software.The guy who is going to flash it for me said it's 220€ total of which 120€ goes for the developer and he takes 100€ for the flashing. That is roughly 235 USD.

+Michael Johnson It's way easier to cut the plastic with a pair of tin snips. Much cleaner too. Or you can score it with a razor knife

+JohnJenin I do what I can, the only ride time I was able to get video on it was the day I bought it. Weather has been weird and gopro has been dead but I will do a ride video explaining the differences that I feel.
