I appreciate that I'm learning a lot. Seeing you physically remove the spark plugs goes a long way. No short cuts next time. Your teaching! Good job!

Time to change spark plugs on my '2017. I hope this vid will be of help. Also I do remember that as soon as you feel resistance while screwing in a new plug you will need to do only 1/4 turn to tighten it up. There is crush washer so you must not get it completely flat. This was the repair manual recommendation for my old FZ1 '01.

All of that for spark plugs?? Thanks for the video man I need to tackle this soon. Beats having a shop do it for $150-200 for labor.
@speedclutchlean34606 жыл бұрын
Trippy Bruh it’s really not that hard u can also do it by undoing the radiator but my hands aren’t that small plus I also did block off plates at the same time

I replaced my spark plugs on my 2015 fz09 and now it’s showing a 5d__33 code . Any chance you know what it is ?

Awesome video! Except my plugs have to twist off not get pulled is that normal? I was able to do the 2 right ones but the far left is giving me trouble...
@speedclutchlean34606 жыл бұрын
Rolando Meza yea they kinda tread but at the same time don’t it’s weird if you give a little tug should pop right off

Do you locktight every bolt you took off when you put them back on? Including spark plugs? Asking for a friend
@speedclutchlean34603 жыл бұрын
No but make sure you torque the important ones you can usually do a quick google and itll usually give ya what ya need
@jareddougherty89252 жыл бұрын
Def don't want loctite on any spark plugs ever... If anything you'll want to use anti-seize so they don't mess threads up in the cylinder head next time they're removed

Great video, to Yamahas engineer, “you should be executed for doing this”

you don't need to tighten your spark plug so much. Screw it in with your fingers until it starts resisting. Then do just a 1/4 to 1/3 turn. That's it.
@mitchelllarson98144 жыл бұрын
Can you drip me the relocation vid?
@hawaiielite7 жыл бұрын
Haha, why so much work for plug replacement? Hows about two radiator mounting screws and one fan plug, and the radiator drop forward exposing the plugs a lot more than from the top. You're welcome.
@speedclutchlean34607 жыл бұрын
hawaiielite because the way I showed gives someone more room to work and better view points

@@Chuzo1946 not always the case. A lot of dealers will provide regular (non Yamaha branded) ngk plugs as they're identical besides packaging...

It would be nice for viewers if you would include part numbers for spark plugs, what the gap should be set at, what the recommended mileage is that you should change them at, etc. Also, I would recommend getting rid of the "donkey dick" by installing block-off plates. Also, you might as well do a throttle body sync while you're in there. Just a suggestion.
@speedclutchlean34606 жыл бұрын
Jeff RT yea I ended up doin the plates thanks for the suggestions super appreciate it

0:32 Really!!! @ 3:50 all wimpy with the tank for what?!? why dont you throw it away as well? It's your bike you can burn it if you want but thats lack of respect for the machine and who developed it.

Gotta take care of the tank it's all pretty
@jackblue43217 жыл бұрын
I got one exactly the same bike (Orange ABS version) and would never do that to my seat, hell i would never do that with the seat of an old bike. Watched your vid because im thinking on changing the plugs @ 8k or 10k but going to use Denso Iridium instead of NGK. So some insight was valuable.
