A lot of Toyotas are reliable. I've had a 2017 RAV-4 for a bit already, and have had no issues, other than changing my brake pads once.

My brother bought my Camry a few years ago as I first upgraded to a 2017 Lexus IS200t F-Sport & now a 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport that I bought a year & a half ago with 41k miles, now with 54k miles. My mom has a 2017 XLE Camry 4-cylinder which now has 52k miles with no problems so far, same with my Camry as well as both of my Lexus' as expected. I'll likely continue to buy Toyota/Lexus vehicles for the rest of my life.

if you bargain right, you can always buy a car below MSRP even together with taxes and all the fees. I bought a Sienna XLE with a few added things for 34800 when MSRP was 38k+, in the beginning with taxes and fees they told me 43000, haha. Generally from upgraded version you can knock off more than from a basic car. If you know off 6000 from this one, but from a basic one you probably would only take off 2k or so

k ryan84 Their 6 speeds are ok probably the best automatic tranny Honda has right now. Still not nearly as good as Toyota or Mazda's 6 speed auto's since some people still have problems in the cold with Honda Autos. BMW's 8 speed is the best automatic transmission out there right now.

+Veyronp87 I agree. The Accords 2 tiered screen deal looks nice but is unnecessary compared to the ergonomic, intuitive Camry interior. People also complained about the Accord 6-speed tranny vibrating at certain speeds which made me uneasy to drop 30+ on it so now I have a Camry. Camry is nice but I still like the handling, faster shifting trans and engine note of the Accord better. Pity the needlessly busy/complex center stack. And now they have no physical buttons on the console for the radio. Very lame Honda smh

Hello Sofyan. I'm a big fan of your channel and watch all your videos. I've been stuck for years. I want to know what is better for long term reliability and handling in snow. The two cars in mind are camry sxe and mazda 6. My current car is a 97 Prizm LSI and I've had it for twenty years. I really want that long term reliability and snow handling. An opinion I got from another enthusiast is the Mazda 6 doesn't have that reliability that the camry has. He also said he doesn't know about Mazda 6's snow handling. I thought you would know. I thought for power, if a camry, I would get the V6 for torque and power. I also like pin stripes- definitely for camry; don't know about Mazda 6. So for snow handling and long term reliability, which one would you recommend? Sincerely, Paul.

+Samin Sobhani It WILL be less reliable than the 2GR V6, no matter what. When you thrown in forced-induction on an engine, there always going to be more parts that COULD go wrong. Now, I'm not saying that the upcoming Toyota 2.0T will be unreliable. I'm sure it will be produced with Japanese quality, but as for comparison with the current V6, it won't be as smooth, and won't have all that power at once to match the 2GR's torque. It will most likely have better fuel efficiency - most Camry buyers don't really use full throttle on their cars, so most won't use the boost unless coming onto the freeway.

+masterwhopper414 Toyota has some experience with turbo charged engines. They did a few in the 90s. More parts increases complexity but if anyone can make an engine reliable, it's toyota. The consumers in this price category value fuel economy and ride comfort more than anything else. Replacement of the thirsty(thirsty is a relative term nowadays) 3.5 V6 was inevitable. I won't be surprised if toyota develops a smaller turbo charged engine to replace the 2.5 I4. Honda with their 1.5 turbo has really stepped up their game. Real world testing has produced fuel economy of 40+ highway mpg and combining that with better than ever performance. I can say the same about Mazda. I expect toyota to make some changes on the smaller engine as well.

I can believe that, Ford and Hyundai are having success with their turbo-I4's, specifically their 2.0Ts. Performance and efficiency. Yes Toyota does have experience with turbo engines (MR2 and Supra come to mind), but as of the 2000s, they've been focusing on their TRD supercharging as an afterthought package. Whatever the case may be, V6s will become rare.

+Samin Sobhani Ima graba naturally aspirated V6 for reliability's sake before they become a thing of the past. Until the manufacturers start replacing the 6s in the minivans and suvs with 4s, I doubt a quick move to a turbo 4 will come about soon. The Only benefit I see to a Turbo 4 in a mid size family sedan vs. a V6 is that the 4 will make for a potentially sportier drive with better weight distribution between front and back.

Don't forget the cardboard thin carpet! My brother in law has a 2012 Camry and you can tell they cheapened out compared to my uncle's 2011. The 2011 has better quality seats and carpet, not to mention auto windows in all positions.

+David C Schlesinger David you have no place in this conversation and this will be my one and only reply to you. You have completely misinterpreted my comment. Clearly Sofyan is a great and popular reviewer with 6000 views in 24 hours, far more than myself and God knows more than you get. My point is that a great many consumers will watch this video when in the market for a midsized sedan-- this video does no justice for those consumers as it simply tells buyers to shop elsewhere because it isn't the car Sofyan likes. I offered constructive criticism and by no means intended to be rude. Yes, reviewers should offer their personal opinions. Distaste of seat color and other personal preferences such as styling and wheel choices should remain off-limits to any credible auto journalist. Watch any of the big names (Voelk, Hammes, etc) and you'll see what I mean. Please do something better with your time than patrol comments on a video you've clearly already watched.

+brorowcarwiz Brooks, I think you may have slightly misinterpreted the point I was trying to convey in this review. I agree with you on the Camry being a solid car, it's by no means, a bad car. Its just, when you get the chance to drive its competitors back to back, you really start to see the weaknesses in the Camry's armor. The V6 engine is still potent, the interior is roomy, simple, and easy to use, the reliability and resale value will undoubtably be excellent. Those are all reasons why you should buy a Camry. However, it's my job to inform you guys what my thoughts are for each vehicle. By no means, do I have any "hate" for a specific brand, I've actually always had a soft spot for Camry's [it was my very first car when I got my driver's license, after all] but for the price that Toyota is asking for this XLE V6, it was seriously lacking in features that most competitors throw in. Yes, I realize that no one pays MSRP and you probably could get the dealer to knock [at least] $5,000 off the sticker, but keep in mind that the midsize family sedan market sells like crazy, and you'll be able to get a deal on every family sedan that comes from any mainstream automaker. That being said, I would easily recommend a Camry to anyone who has always driven Toyota products or places a high emphasis on a smooth and quiet ride. The Accord and Mazda6 are more taut for sure, however I always mention to you guys that is my personal preference. I like my family sedans to be sportier to drive, offer an interior that tricks you into thinking you bought a luxury car, and offer the latest and best in tech features. If your idea of the perfect family sedan involves all of the Camry's strengths, than I wouldn't fault you for choosing one. But, if you are on the fence and don't have any brand loyalty, then the point of my review is to provide you with my honest, unscripted and blunt critique (which may be exactly what some are looking for, especially after hearing nothing but positives from their friends or families). Anyways, despite my quibbles with the car, Toyota will continue to sell them as fast as they can make them. Consumers love Camry's and they should, its a great car. -Sofyan

+brorowcarwiz I also come from a Toyota/Lexus family but I mostly agree with Sofyan. I own a '15 XSE Camry and I mostly bought it due to the value proposition. When a dealer gives you $6K off MSRP, it's kind of hard to turn that down. No other manufacturer came close to that kind of discount. I think most people buy Camrys for this reason nowadays; not because Toyota is offering more car compared to a 6 or Sonata (they're not). Every Lexus and Toyota that my family has owned never failed us and none of them ever had major problems. Toyota/Lexus attracts a certain type of customer: the smart one.

+omarrianowilson9 Toyota purposely keeps the Camry the way it is to keep Lexus relevant. If Toyota added hand stitched leather, pano roof, more sound insulation, etc. to the Toyota, no one would buy the Lexus. And really...... how many customers are buying the top trim levels of these cars? 85%+ of midsized sedans are powered by 4 cylinders and most Camry on the road are LE and SE trims. Likewise, Accords are mostly Sport, LX, and EX. Toyota already made that mistake of bringing the camry too upmarket with the 1992-1996 version; I must admit... that was a nice camry. And truly, anyone who bought an ES in that gen was a badge whore as they were literally the same car with the same level of build quality, attention to detail, and aesthetics. It was no wonder that the ES sales took off after they decanted the Camry after that; no camry made after 1997 was made to be as good/even better than the Lexus. Look at Honda now; anyone who buys the TLX is an idiot because of how good the Accord is. Acura is having huge issues in the market place as the only stuff that sells are the MDX and RDX; everything is a hog wash. And don't get me started on the civic vs. ILX...... I'm sure Acura dealers are tempted buy Civic's now and slap an acura badge in any place a Honda stamp is on the car... it would probably do wonders to their business. The Acura dealer in my town is having problems moving new inventory.... selling used cars is what is keeping them afloat now.

+Nutritional Chemistry The TLX isn't in the same Segment of Vehicle.. The TLX Doesn't compete in that particular segment. Now the ILX Sells the Civic by about 2.5%. So obviously the ILX has some little bit of value. The TLX competes with Lexus and the TLX is NOT far behind in terms of Sales. Acura Sells them at around 4% in my area, so Acura is perfectly fine in it's market.

+David C Schlesinger I understand the fact that the Toyota Camry was never meant to be special. But think about it, almost 36K for a car with Interior Plastics.... That's kinda stupid. The reason why the top trim of the camry will never sell is because it's too expensive with sooo little comfort. They make a powerful and nice sounding V6 but the Motor isn't worth 35k. Nobody is going to load up a Camry and pay 35K just to have the BARE BASICS! The bare basics aren't worth that much. To make Lexus relevant is fine, but why does it have to cost soo much? Who pays that much for basic shit?

+David C Schlesinger We have a 2007 Toyota Camry XLE V6 fully loaded with the navigation and push button start. 125K and the 2GR-FE engine sounds like it has 25K miles on it, transmission shifts like a dream, and the car has really cool touches like PLASMA CLUSTER ion technology for the HVAC, reclining back seats, and other things like CD holder on the sun visor and numerous storage bins. Oh, and a manual retractable rear sunshade. The 2007-2011 was the gen when the Camry got ALMOST as many features as the same gen ES. The only ES exclusive things were the Mark Levinson Audio (which Toyota's JBL is also great), Pano roof, rear sunshade that's power operated, and HID headlamps. That's it; a fully loaded camry in that gen can be had with everything else. Interior quality is a different story though lol; an ES would blow our Camry out of the water; and the leather. Personally my favorite gen, regardless of any Toyota hater that thinks that It is too bad for 2012, Toyota deleted most of those features I noted above... it really gave the Camry a Lexus touch that was absent since the 92-96 gen. As for lower build quality, the Camry is by far the most solid sedan in the class. Accord is 80% of what the Camry is. I don't know what your talking about there; our Camry feels so solid going down the interstate at 90 MPH.

+omarrianowilson9 Acura is a joke. The last real competitive products in the Acura line-up were the 1st gen TSX, 3rd gen TL, and maybe the previous gen RL line. The TL was doing 70K+ in sales, which was basically as good as the ES, back in 2005-2006. At the end of the 4th gen, it couldn't crack 30K. Honda made some really stupid executive decisions in the 2000's that they are paying for today, namely the demise of their Acura line. Not improving on their hybrid IMA system was also another bird brain idea; Honda has almost no game in the hybrid market when they were the first to bring a hybrid to America. But they will come back; I have a 2012 Civic Hybrid myself; love the car.

a combination of good resale value, reliability and this fantastic 3.5 V6 leads me to believe this is a smart choice. It seems to be a great car for those who don't mind compromising. If you can accept what it's not (A RWD sports car) I think anyone who drives any of the 3.5 V6 Camry's will not feel robbed. They sound great too. A total sleeper :) . Now when are we going to see a more powerful engine or a turbo in the 86/BRZ? That's a topic for an entirely different time I know.
