I have to admit. I have been thinking about trading and/or selling my 2005 V8 Touareg, but after I upgraded the audio system w/bluetooth, nav, XM etc, plus my 12"subs, I believe the 2005 is much more luxurious, than the new ones. Hell, I think I am going to keep it. Mine has the 4.2 V8 and the air suspension which is amazing. I have over 145k miles on it and never had any issues other than normal maintenance and wear and tear. Freaking amazing vehicle.

The Battery should be under the Driver's Seat. VW makes good cars and will overcome this scandal with time. great video Mike.

These are absolutely amazing, do-it-all vehicles. Tow 7700 lbs., governed top speed @130 MPH with all the bells and whistles. Rugged, understated luxury!! Great review!

Vw touareg share the chassis with porsche cayenne, audi q7, Bentley benteyaga. It also share the diesel engine with cayenne and q7. The battery of this car is under the driver seat, there is a latch there that u can lift the driver seat up and pull out the battery "big one though", the ad blue is under the spare tire. And you forgot to mention its got 407 lb of torque. I bought same car over a year, a used one, and I love it every day, the diesel gate scared a lot of people from this car, so we people that love vw, could get them in good prices lol

Hi Mike, recently went to Monterrey mexico to buy a pocket rocket hatch Polo GTI to import it here to the states, the days I where in the dealer saw this Touareg and caught my attention, from the outside looked actually pretty good and Premium. well just watched your review and I think I'll visit the dealer this week, this is way better than I thought!! thanks for sharing!!

Very good run through of the 2016 Touareg TDI. The battery is under the driver's seat. I drive an 09 TDI and frankly, I like the interior / controls layout of the 09 better than the 16. However, the engine and the drive train on the 16 is more efficient -- but does not come with low range 4X4. I do like to 16 seats better than the T2 style seats. Anyone on the fence about the Touareg,? I'm a former Audi addict, and I can tell you absolutely, that the VW Touareg is a fine luxury SUV that is truly off-road capable. The power delivery is seamless and instant. It's a very unique and pleasurable driving experience.

Good overall review. Nice features mentioned. Only thing missing that VW should've added this luxury model Tourag is a remote start. That would've been the cherry on top.

Diesels don't heat up at idle. Just hop in, turn on the heated seat and steering wheel, and drive away.

Those lower vents are left and right intercoolers for the turbocharger charge air induction system, one intercooler per bank of cylinders, it's a V6

The gas cap mount also prevents you from closing the gas cap door, with the gas hole open. I like the air conditioned glove box as, it reminds me of my old Saab 9 5 Sportswagon. I do wish this car had a hard parcel shelf and gate system, like the 9 5 Sportswagon did though.

This Touraeg seems to have a stronger family resemblance to the Porsche Cayenne, than to the Audi Q7. It's a good looking and well equipped vehicle but at its top price point, I'd go with the Q7 instead.

Those are the intercooler for the turbos. The AC condenser is informant of the radiator

I drove my 2015 vw Golf Sportwagon, up to 7,000 elevation. Cost me $6.00 USD, to go 100 miles. The TDI 2.0 is GREAT, when comparing it to my 1983 Chevy Diesel 6.2. I TRIED to get my 2015 VW Sport wagon, to make BLACK Smoke, like in the videos. CAN'T do it. To me, the tdi is GREAT. I will be the next person, to unload my 2015, for the NEWER TDI, German Technology is GREAT. I ONLY have 9,800 Original miles on my car. Thank You.

Aside from the engine, this is not significantly changed from my '04. I added Garmin/kenwood audio/nav system to make it more current, as new units in north American don't have air suspension, better to update the old one.

I have an 05 V8 with the air suspension, and I also ungraded the audio system to make it current. I personally think my 05 is more luxurious and has a nicer interior.

You showed us the different types of media sources, but I did not get to see where the SD card goes, where the CD goes, or how you get music to the HD. Also, doers this media center able to play DVDs for your passengers? It would have been nice to see how you access these. Can you make a separate video for that? Overall thank you for the in depth look at this 2016 Touareg TDI Lux.

you failed to mention that this is a "Clean Diesel" which requires a urea tank, which is under the spare tire. You will have to periodically refill the urea tank as if you would with the fuel.

I was headed to my Dad's funeral. I was born @ 10pm. It was 7:50 am. Barely awake, my 2015 TDI had 17,000 miles on it. In the same direction, was a Mercedes suv, with the driver texting. It PLOWED N2 my vw Sportwagon, totaling it out. 3 weeks my rental Chrysler expired, 2 find me in a 2016 Ford Escape. After 5,000 miles, I still WISH I was in the German VW Family. So,...2 make a long story short, I am headed to trade in my American Ford, 4 the VW Touareg. Thx 4 reading.

One mistake in video. Seats are not cooled. They are ventilated. They circulate the air in the car. If air in car is hot, you get hot air. There are no refrigeration coils in the seats. Leaned about this when I told the dealer the seat cooling feature wasn’t working.

I would add that it's an excellent time to lease a 2016 Touareg. Great deals out there, and by leasing you don't have to worry about any short-term depreciation associated with the scandal while the scandal is resolved over the next few years. Great car at a great value.

I am sick and tired of VW screwing the American people. Either get in or get out. You refuse to bring the VW truck here. Even though we are the truck capital of the world. You brought us the stupid van, even though Vans were popular in the 80's, and have been falling ever since. In the USA, Smart Cars sell like hot cakes, and so do compacts and Hybrids. Yet you wont bring us the VW Taigun or the Audi Q1. VW use to be my favorite, but all you ship us is oversized junk we cannot afford to drive. Gosh, grow up you rich corporate executives in expensive suits. Bring is the Taigun or Q1 pronto.

The VW Taigun and the Q1 are not available anywhere at the moment... not just the USA. Also, the choice not to import the VW truck is most likely due to government regulations (like the chicken tax).
