In this review, we'll be covering the whole range of MDX's including the Base, Technology, Advance and SH-AWD models (and available packages like Entertainment Package) as well as the performance / mpg data, distinct styling cues, interior technology, cargo capacity and all the packages. Nice and detailed review! Would have loved a bit more info on the different buttons (what’s traction control, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist etc...) but still pretty comprehensive. I love Acura and this car in particular. They did an amazing job everywhere (although I do find the 2 screen dashboard system and buttons a bit confusing at first). Thank you!

Excellent review...one of the best I've seen. My 2017 MDX is being built this week. One question I had was the adjustability of the 2nd row seats. It looks like they recline some, but do they move forward or back at all? I was a bit disappointed that you can only get the advance package with the 2nd row captains chairs....I would've preferred the additional seat...but I wanted the advance package...so I'll live with one less seat. Thanks again for the very nice review.

Thanks for the review! Did you also get chance to Test Drive it? - Wanted to know how ZF 9speed transmission feels in 2017. Few ppl had complains about how 9speed shifts in 2016 model. - Is Siri integration working good?

Thanks for the comment! Unfortunately, we won't be much help on either of those topics as we neither drove it nor had an iPhone to try out the Siri integration. That said, however, in all our research we never saw anything indicating changes to the transmission so its *probably* identical to the '16's.

I can't imagine why Acura went back to the exhaust exiting out the bumper. If you don't clean it often, you end up with nasty build up which can be impossible to remove.

Acura is getting there. I'm curious about the sport hybrid model. Seems like a pretty good value when a Tahoe with these features is pushing 70k

I just bought a 2017 MDX Advance with $900 in additional options for a total of $55,500, not including taxes at my local dealership. It'll be assembled next week and will be delivered in 4-6 weeks. The Tahoe Denali is a very nice SUV and has slightly better off-road capability than the MDX. It's also a bit larger, and much larger if you get the XL version. If you don't need that much space and rarely go off road though, the MDX is a far better deal, has better expected reliability, better fuel economy, better safety features, and lower cost of ownership, and better resale value. :)

$50K on a car whose second row backseat doesn’t recline. I tried it out in an Acura dealership so uncomfortable as shit. I pointed this out to the salesman why the back seat does not recline he said well the passengers can always lay their head against the door window if they want to sleep. hahaha! Goodluck going on a road trip with your friends, make sure you give them lots of painkillers because their backs and necks are in for a lot of hurt.

If you need all wheel drive, the Acura AWD system is the most advanced in the industry. Nothing comes close to it. If Infinity is using the same system they had a few years ago, their AWD is a joke. It is more for performance and gaining traction under acceleration, not for trying to drive through snow safely and slowly.

It is time to lose the beak. Acura sales are down, the beak isn't the only thing to blame but it's either you hate it or like it scenario and hate to tell you but most people do not like it. They toned it down on the TLX and ILX and that worked a bit.

"Premium fuel is recommended but not required." Assuming the 290HP is with 93 (AKI) octane fuel, what's the HP with 87 octane?

Acura does not distinguish between Premium (93 octane) and Regular (87 octane) fuel for their horsepower ratings. That said, however, the Honda Pilot comes equipped with a very similar (if not the same) engine, which runs on regular 87 octane fuel. That engine is rated at 280 horsepower, so I would assume if you ran your MDX on regular it would not be any less than 280 horsepower. Hope that helps!

The MDX Advance gets a standard Head-Up Warning (HUW) display and ventilated rear seats are not available on any MDX. Thanks for the comment!

That would be correct. My understanding of it is that warning lights are displayed on the windshield when an emergency braking situation is encountered.

+Kermmit “Deadlox16” D On some vehicles the frame rate of the camera syncs with the cars lighting and causes it to appear as though it is flashing or bending. To the human eye it appears as continuous light.

Hello Domo. That is how 'ALL' led look under camera. Our normal human are not able to catch the fast blinking led light; only under camera will our eyes be able to see it.

I have graystone interior on my 2016 MDX, only because it was the only interior color available with a fathom blue pearl exterior color. If I had a choice I would have went with ebony, simply because when ebony gets dirty it isn't visible. With the graystone it isn't blatantly apparent when the seats get dirty but you can notice the difference.

No panoramic sunroof are u kidding me.. even the 2013 bmw x1 comes with a panoramic roof. Plus when you remote start the car there is no indication that the car actually started because no lights come on.

The thing that really I don’t get the point is. Why as a engineer and designer put such a beautiful piece of art and unbelievably design and technology on headlights and blinkers but you go to the taillights all of them are the classic ugly old school incandescent light bulbs. Why? It is that hard to jump fully LED or what it’s the deal?

Unlike the new Accord/TLX, I think the MDX is significantly differentiated from the Pilot in both styling and features. The MDX is quite a bit more luxurious in terms of materials. The Pilot is a very capable people hauler with many standard features that would satisfy most. But if you want to step up a little, the MDX is a good option in terms of style and price. You get way more value than MB, BMW, or Volvo with similar options. I personally like that the MDX does not have a 4 cylinder option to cut cost.
