The Chevy Bolt is the first affordable electric car with over 200 miles of range. The Bolt is a remarkable car and you need to spend some time behind the wheel in order to realize its full potential. Prices range from $36,620 to $40,905. The model seen here is the top-of-the-line Premier model. The single electric motor produces 200 horsepower and 266 lb-ft. of torque. The 60 kw/hr lithium ion battery pack gives you an EPA estimated 238 miles of range.

It's pretty frustrating so many of these reviewers all but saying that the Level 2 chargers are a necessity. That's really not the case if your everyday commute is at or less than the national average of around 40 miles roundtrip. The car can charge 4 miles for each hour it is plugged into a standard outlet. That's 48 miles if it's plugged in for even 12 hours (and most people are probably home for more than 12 hours per day). Personally, my commute is 15 miles roundtrip, and I usually make a 120 mile roundtrip on the weekends to see my parents. I never, ever have issues with the standard outlet, and I don't even need to charge it every day. Usually on Wednesday evening and on Saturday night after I get home from that 120 mile trip do I make an overnight charge. If I take a long trip to the ocean I find a Level 3 DC charger somewhere along the way and eat lunch for an hour while my car gets that sweet, sweet DC fire hose blast of electrons. My apartment complex doesn't even make me pay for the outlet I use, so I'm especially spoiled. I think I can talk my complex into installing Level 2, I just don't want to because Level 1 suits me just fine and having Level 2 would mean they could meter my kWh's (which cost 10.4 cents/kWh where I live).

One thing that I have noticed in the last 2 years of observing people buying EV's is....these cars teach you how to drive correctly and your force to realize how wasteful overall you have been in the previous years. On that note. I tried to observe some of these good EV habits on my old BMW 3 series. The truth is no matter what you do. The fuel consumption is appalling.

Went to a dealer to check this vehicle out and noticed that the car doesn't come with a spare tire. When asked, 1) there is no room for it, 2) the vehicle comes with a tire inflator (to top of the flat tire) and 3) Chevy offers a comprehensive road car care package. Other than that, it really is a capable compact all-electric car.

I don't understand why the car can't change itself while driving instead of while breaking. the faster you drive the more it charges make that a reality.

Dan, it does not have enough capacity to make the Miami-Disney trip w/o recharging. Tesla does.

I don't like the way it looks. All the electronics for everything scare me since I know they won't be reliable.
