After 16 months and 30k miles, I usually change out my car incabin HVAC filter every 12 months after Fall. As you can see in the photos its quite dirty after 1 year. Per GM manual this is usually scheduled to be changed out every 20k miles or as needed. I got this Wix Carbon filter for about $15 or a Fram carbon filter one for about $24. It helps in filtering all the external air from dust and pollen over the 1-2 years you have this filter in. You will need to change it out sooner but living in LA, theres plenty of dust, smog, and brake dust that gets caught in the airfilter so it is just cheap insurance for our lungs when commuting... hope this helps!

I really appreciated this video. Thanks for sharing. I have a 2017 Chevy Volt and really need to follow a good cabin filter replacement protocol to keep the car smelling fresh. Cyber hugs... Thanks for sharing the precise tools needed in the beginning.

Do you mean there is a clip somewhere that allows the glove box to swing out of the way for cabin filter access? I don't quite understand the following verbiage: "there's a clip in the dash pops out for a quick change". I bought a used 2017 Volt and can't find any record of having the cabin filter serviced. Just hit 30K miles!

@@georgegonzalez9281 It’s not that hard to understand. Most people don’t bother to change them or even install them. I bought my ‘19 Volt brand new, and I have never put one in it yet....it’s kind of a waste of time and money, when you usually drive with your windows down a little bit anyway. The air that you breathe while you walk around every day isn’t filtered either.

For a generation 2 it's a little more involved. But not that hard. This video made up of stills is not a very good DIY video. On KZfaq I expect a real video showing you actually what to do. When I saw the 7mm socket on a 3/8's adapter I knew this was amateur city.

+glasspilot1 super amateur city! I my tools are limited over the years... I should set up a patreon account so viewers can donate money for me to get better tools, a better internet connection, and editing tools so it don't have to wait hours to get the video rendered and uploaded to KZfaq. Thanks for watching tho. I appreciate it. :)

If you expect a better video, then I guess you can always make it yourself and it will be just how you want it.

His video shows me where all the bolts are and it's taken out, I'm not sure what else you are asking for.

I see it’s 3 years old, but I’ve never seen such a petty comment on a YT video. The pictures and verbal instructions were more than enough to show how to change the filter.
