Thanks for the video! I changed my 2017 filter after 10 months/25K miles. It was dusty. The side cover pulls off easily from the front with a pivot on the back. The 7mm screws are all facing forward, none out to the right side of the glove box.

Who the hell designs an air filter that requires removing the entire glove box? Wow...

Just about every manufacturer. I own Mini Cooper, Toyota, Chevy, Ford and they all locate them behind the glove box. Mild pain.

Agreed! In my Kia Soul, there was a panel that popped off in the glove box and you were right there - no tools needed.

A filter should have easier access.

Hi I got a question about my 2016 Volt. I keep smelling outside odors when I am driving. I always turn on recirculation and auto defog, auto function has been turn off. I went to dealership and they said there is still 10-15% outside air would come in. But it makes me carsick when I am following a diesel truck. I am thinking using a better cabin filter might be my life save. for example FRAM CF11966. what do you think?

+Ian Ho i use the recirculating button too and i dont smell the diesel exhaust. The air filter thats with the 2016 17 is already a really fine filter. Overall i think it may be your recirculation button or the door it moves to block outside air

+Ian Ho ...btw i believe auto defog opens the out side air to normalize the humidity.

+Ian Ho many of the filters are hepa filters and some have carbon, but diesel exhaust is toxic. I drive the 710 freeway to the Port every morning and back and there are walls of 18 wheelers. But my air recirculation works and it doesn't get into the cabin in my 2017. At least i dont smell it. I am still using my original filter.

AND something needing changing so often? Is the entire glove box designed to be removed & replaced every year? Doesn't look that way 2me.

you should have changed the filter after all that, $20. And most cars from about 2000 have cabin air filters including all volts.
