2017 GMC SIERRA Won't Crank or Start...1 Click...Fixed...

Truck drove fine all day. Left it parked for a little while. Could not get it to start. Tried at least 15 times. All else worked fine. Radio, power everything, lights etc Worked. Truck Would not Crank at all.

I just went theough the same nightmare with my wife's 2016 GMC Yukon. Sam÷ problem. Starter. They don't make them like they used to. Glad we are rolling again. Great video.

Oh my God dude spit it out lol. Appreciate the message after you ran in circles with your thought processes for 10 minutes 😂 but you have helped confirm my suspicions. My truck is doing this currently. It's happened twice now where I've had to turn the key 10-15 times until it finally engages and starts the truck. Glad mine finally started bc Im 2 hours from the house but I'll be replacing the starter ASAP. Thanks 👍

Im sure its an engine fround point. My 2017 is doing it. The other day we just grounded the engine to the neg of the bat with booster cables and first try cranked. Now i just have to take ghe grounds and clean the surfaces grease up and put back together... prob going to join it with a direct ground to the bat. Should work!

Longer than it needed to be but was really helpful. I’m Having same issue with same year GMC Sierra. I tried everything you did. Had I searched this video right away, I would have been spared a lot of aggravation and 5 hours of my life stranded, while attempting everything including dealing with AAA. Thank you for posting. Hey bro one question was nothing happening and nothing coming on whenever you were doing your key forward because my truck got a fully charged battery and as soon as I put the key in nothing happens no lights no nothing when I try turning it on it just makes a clicking noise and that's it

@@peterl6095 okay thanks I will check that out no nothing happens the only thing when I take off the key my radio music comes on not the radio screen or nothing just the music and the left headlight then it turns off after 10 minutes

@@putradjaja8196 I replace the battery fuse it's a little black square box that's connected to your positive and it has like 3 wires that screw on I replaced it and haven't had a problem since

My truck does that around 3 times a year . Unplugging the hot wire for 5 mins always fixed it . Today it done it and it didnt work. 1 click no start . Got it towed . Anybody know whats up 2015 gmc sierra hd.

I'm in the same boat with my 2013 GMC Yukon, starts up fine 95% of the time, then randomly wont start, just a click. I replaced the starter twice now. I find that odd.

I have the 2018 100 year addition truck went to start it just clicked called roadside assistance guy came put the booster pack on and said it's not your battery it's the starter he had a long crowbar and banged the starter and away it went and told me it needs a new starter so I go home . The Monday I called the dealer and told them what happened they informed me the truck was out of basic warranty by one month and that the truck needed a new starter , very expensive to replace and no warranty so I called gm customer care thinking this is bullshit less than 30k on my truck called the dealer back asking for some good will but nope your trucks out of warranty and it needs a starter so I tell him that I called gm customer care the things change I get the third degree from him saying why did you call gm you should have talk to me I can offer 75 percent gm and 25 percent customer so I said to him a minute ago you told me no warranty and now you offer this now I'm pissed and the fight continues

Same for me ! Im on my secobd stater change! First was on warranty.. its a silverado 2017 … changed the first starter in 09/19.. and yesterday its already dead! But no more warranty! Im pissed! 2 starter in 3 years… wtf GM?????

I knew that when you bought a rebuild starter that they only fixed what was wore out on it and just cleaned it up and resold it . And a brand new is what it is brand new , what's bad is if you pay someone the labor cost for installing a remanufactured/rebuilt starter and it goes out your out another labor bill . I us too do my own labor when I was younger , I ran upon a problem with OREILLYS - I bought rebuild starter and it lasted two or three weeks and I started having the battery go died and I took it back and they checked it on the truck and said I had a short . Well I told them I'd bought the little Nissan truck new and it didn't have a short , too either give my old starter back or my money . Well they said my old starter was gone to be rebuild , I was mad so I said give me another starter . They said again that it had a died short , I said again just give me another rebuild starter , well they did and guess what my short problem went away . So remember if you know your vehicle , don't let them fool you ......

independant shops who have commercial accounts with autozone, napa etc, u get whatever warranty they offer generally and either napa or autozone pays the independant shop half for the work basically

I have a 2019 3500 and it does the same thing. I figured that I could the be the key or fob. I still have pinned down the answer but I think it’s the key.

I also have a 2019, 3500 with a 6 liter. The same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago! I did everything. Checked cables,, hit starter with a hammer, checked fuses, checked alternator and cursed allot. Walked home, got the neighbors Audi for a jump and when we got back,, I tried it again just for the hell of it,,,,, and it started like a champ even at - 20. 4 days later,,, the same thing. This time I had the wife come with the Subaru :o) (this would have made a great commercial) A Subaru Forester jumpstarting a GMC, 1 tone, crew cab, 4x4, long bed!!! It made allot of people laugh at the grocery store where we were. Waited about 5 minutes with cables and then it started. I got a tester the following day and the battery, starter and alternator, are all good?!?! I didn't believe the Subaru helped to start it. I don't have a fob but there is a chip of some sorts in the key itself. I will switch keys for a while and see what happens. There is something about getting stuck with a truck that doesn't even have 40 thousand miles yet in Canada in the winter!

For me, it was the wire that snaps on the starter. It was broken about 6 inches back from the starter. Heard it's a very common problem on the Silverados and GMC. .
