Met Bill at the DGA-W 57th - an internship I was then doing for Nancy Littlefield. -unbelievable kindness towards me. Bought me up to his office, intro'd me around - etc. Me I was so intimidated I could barely speak - it wasn't planned - just kind of organically happened. .

Aykroyd was and ALWAYS be the king of SNL. He cherishes the time he spent on that show and truly understands what that show and that comedy has meant to the world. There are plenty of people out there who became huge who kinda shrug off where they got their start, like Eddie Murphy for example.

Martin was a uniquely gifted talent. A hero of comedy back when I was in high school... it's hard to believe he's pushing 80 now. There were other 'funny guys', and all of them good. But Martin was different. He was the first comic that I can remember filling Huge auditoriums, like a rock star. He wasn't mocking politicians, or saying "My wife's cooking is so bad... " he was Fresh.. Original.. and damn funny, without being graphic. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, but some use it as a crutch.) If there's a Mt. Rushmore of comedy.. he ought to be on it.

You didn't spell grammar correctly either. It's spelled "G-R-A-M-M-A-R" not "G-R-A-M-M-E-R". You need to put a second "l" in the word "spelling" and where the hell did you come up with "doodly"? That's not even a word! Replace it with "nothing" because it sounds more mature. Then finally, "highway" is spelled "H-I-G-H-W-A-Y" and not "H-I-W-A-Y". Fix your comment! They knew they had it from the jump. Knew it was the right show at the right time. Show just oozed with Swag and Confidence. Drawing all the then college kids from across the East Coast. Who'd never before even CONSIDERED a job writing comedy. SNL an Arnold and a Sly in its' own right. A philosophy. A religion. Comedy is a Religion.

I honestly didn't know how many were still alive. What a delight to see them all still with us and what a well deserved induction. Many of us were a part of their time frame and kept us laughing on Saturday Night Live then the movies and TV appearances and comedy shows. Each of their Hall of Fame speeches still contain the humor and Class they are known for! I'm sure the Organizers had their criteria but you can feel the pain in the honest speech of Bill Murray. Thank you All and the late John Belluci and Gilda Radner for bringing laughter to our teen and young adult lives 🤣😁😊👍🏼

....and he was a GREAT singer. Any bits where he had to sing - including, and especially, opera - were great. He was great at nailing the idioms of any style, and in a comedic way. I just rewatched the first four seasons. There's a bit where he's doing a show tune based on Charles Manson's obsession with The White Album, specifically Revolution #9, it's so hilarious I can't even tell you, I crack up just THINKING about that bit. And the song is IN 9/4. He's singing in an odd time signature, and nailing it.

That was the perfect time to grow up. I couldn't ask for a better time in history. We had SNL , and Rock Concerts . There's no other time in history or since like the 60's 70's and 80's. And there's never been a better cast than the original with Bill Murray. I didn't think I would ever get to 18 years old, then the last 40 years is a blur that I feel like I was in suspended animation. Whoosh. Seems like yesterday the show would come on and Chevy Chase would be behind the news desk talking dirty with a girl on the phone unaware the news had went live and he's famous words I'm Chevy Chase and you're not.

Thanks for the memories. Saturday Night Live was an integral part of my newlywed year and as things were bustling going forward. I remember showing my daughter a cartoon caricature of Chevy Chase which appeared in a National Lampoon magazine in that era and she, being perhaps fourteen months old, opened her mouth wide to mimic the image. My wife saw it too and we just stood there in amazement.

1975....I was in 4th or 5th grade and NOT allowed to stay up or watch SNL. I remember one night, I heard from my room that SNL was on. I snuck down quietly downstairs, ,sat down without anyone seeing me, and caught a snippet of the show. I thought I was so cool to have seen that. I have enjoyed SNL through the years. Some more, some not. I am impressed with the current cast. Everyone has a special talent, and I am glad the show is still airing.

It’s true that John and Gilda brought the danger to the show with what they were willing to do. It’s a shame what they suffered with. I wish they were both here today. So glad this cast was given this honor. They had to take their humble experience of improv and the influence of Monty Python and Laugh-In, and create a whole new experience…on live TV!!

Society was less diverse back then so you could sense what was funny and people would laugh. Today, different people have different opinions, so it's much harder to know what's funny to everyone. It's harder to make a diverse audience laugh. Let's all cry and blame it on millenials and the political party that we don't like.
