Sorry for the lateness of this reply but yes it is being Physx accelerated with the AMD card being the output, the easy way to tell is the paper flying about and getting caught on things. Unfortunately a GT 730 will not be powerful enough and will bottleneck the main GPU, something closer in spec to a GT 1030 will do the job (ie closer to or above 384 CUDA cores).

but this video showed me the exact opposite thing: the 1030, which is surely not capable to show such high fps in this game, calculates only physics here, so it is not involved in main graphic calculations, so it doesn't bottleneck the game in any way. thats why I assumed the nvidia card in this setup can be any card that has hardware physX. or please argument why exactly 1030 is not a bottleneck, but 8800 should be a bottleneck? because as long as they calculating only physics I see no difference which nvidia card to use.

Hi! Yep Run 1 is Physx on CPU, Run 2 is Physx on GPU, Run 3 is Physx off. Doing GPU accelerated Physx on the CPU you'd need much more base performance to overcome the hit so I wouldn't generally recommend it. The list of Physx games is very small and the list that is actually accelerated by a second card is even smaller, for instance while the Borderlands series has GPU Physx it is not accelerated by the second card. A lot of games do have a CPU-only Physx implementation, ArmA 3 uses it for things like tyres for example, this version cannot be GPU accelerated however so having an Nvidia GPU or dedicated accelerator does nothing unfortunately as it already performs optimally. I don't think a GT 1030 or similar spec card (newer or older) would bottleneck any current main card, Physx in general is a performance hit though. I don't have Metro Exodus at the moment, hopefully sometime in the future, I have no idea however if Exodus would be able to use a second card. Newer games with 'Physx' have it as part of GameWorks which can work differently, in Batman Arkham Knight I can accelerate everything with the dedicated Physx card except smoke, luckily for that game the effects are individually toggled. It's cool to have the dedicated Physx card but as with any dual GPU systems there are often headaches associated running the config daily, it is pretty great having the option to do it though.

That is correct and I can confirm it works with all the Arkham series (Smoke isn't accelerated in Knight but the other toggles like Cloth are). It will work with all games that use Physx just like a dual Nvidia setup except for games that assume the presence of an AMD card disable it. Unfortunately Warfame does this but GPU Physx is being phased out of it so it isn't as big of a deal in the end.

currently im running on xfire rx480, im not sure which nvidia card that can handle the physx. i do have gt 740 as my prevs gpu but i sold it :/ i'll try to test later with my friends gpu since he has GT 4xx i cant remember. any tutorial out there mate?

Yep so CUDA and Core Frequency matter the most for a dedicated Physx PPU but you don't have to go crazy. Something like the GT 1030 with 384 CUDA Cores is good, but what in my opinion makes it probably the best all-round option is the price ($80-$100AUD brand new) and that you can get fanless versions that require no extra power making them very easy to install, usable in something else later on and by being brand new have better support now and in the future. Any Nvidia card of similar spec will also run Physx well but are generally older, bigger, hotter and hungrier; if that's what you can get for free though it's not a bad option. Probably the most easily accessible and understandable video on dedicated Physx is LTTs "PhysX Cards - 10 years later do they still suck??" which is linked in the video description.

Yep it most definitely works. I changed my setup slightly recently however which necessitated changing the GTX 1030's DVI to the same monitor as the RX 480 instead of driving it's own monitor. This allowed it to still function, however I get catastrophic system crashes making it unusable. I will try an EDID Emulator in the near future to see it that works the same as a second monitor, but until then actually using it for a second monitor works well.

@@davedtine I know this is an old comment, but this is not a mod. This is running an AMD card with a Geforce card at the same time. The Geforce cards runs Physx, instead of the CPU.
