I had a choice of getting the is200t or is200t f sport. I end up getting thr 2017 Is200t non fsport. I just like the non moving dash board better. It look more lexury but yet sporty.

That's an awesome deal for a lexus with ony 15K miles, I think. How do you like the turbo engine? Can you compare it to the IS300? Is it V6? The Camry XSE V6 was top of the line too, and you liked the IS200 better? I am planning to get a IS300 but it's more expensive. Which one would you recommend? Thank you.

@@khoiquach The turbo is a good engine with more than enough power for most people. I actually just replaced the car with a 2016 GS350 F-Sport, partly cause I wanted to go back to a V6 which sounds far better than the turbo & is much better suited for a luxury car. The cupholders are in a poor location in the IS & are small, but much better in the GS which was my only major complaint about the car. I also wanted to go back to a midsize sedan. It's white on red, has 41k miles & I paid $28k. It still has the original window sticker & shows it was $58k when it was new. Looks & feels a lot more expensive than what I actually paid for it & has over 30 more features that my IS didn't have.

@@DisneyMusicVideos I bought a 2016 GS350 and had to return it since the steering wheel feel heavy to me, coming from a RX350 which steering is very light. I love its 311 hp powerful engine and the look but had to replace it with an ES350 which is very smooth and light steering. I had a 2020 GS350 for a loaner for a day and don't like it so much. I love the smoother ride of an RX or ES, GS tire is thin sport tire so it's not as smooth. I guess I'm old then...LOL The only thing I regret not to have is the Mark Levinson on both of my cars, the premium audio in my RX is okay, the base stereo in my ES is crappy. ML is awesome in the loaner I had.

@@khoiquach Yea, mine has the ML which I wanted for a long time & it sounds amazing. My grandma has a 2012 ES350 & the ride is more cushy in her car. The ride in my GS is on the firm side, but still rides smoother than my IS did.

Kevin Thant get that with low mileage if you can. Repair cost for 320i is far cheaper than other models.

elusivellama The 4th gen IS won't be out till the next generation GS gets introduced. (Likely MY 2020 or 2021 for next IS) The IS follows the GS platform. Second thing is - the new IS won't get the TNGA platform because it was just introduced to the New N platform. Strictly talking business, it won't be smart for Toyota/Lexus to jump the platform after only one generation of use. Its likely Toyota/Lexus won't give the IS and GS the TNGA platform anytime soon. Or if ever, if Toyota/Lexus decides the New N Platform is where the IS/GS/RC stays because not every car shares the same platform. Next thing - I don't think Lexus will introduce a detuned TT V6 to the IS350 anytime soon. It was just introduced into the LS, which is their flagship. Again, business speaking again, Toyota/Lexus would want to ride the LS500 hype of it being its first TT V6 to draw attention first. Once the LS500 is a few years in, Lexus will likely then introduce the detuned engine into its lower tier cars. IE: GS/IS. Most likely the GS will get it first as its top tier engine before the IS. Get the Camry's "new" 8 speed DirectShift transmission? You do know the Lexus IS (all models) has the the 8 speed directshift transmission already right? Its likely the Lexus IS transmission is better and geared more aggressively since the Camry is just an average joe family sedan. Hence: the Lexus IS 8 speed transmission is the Sport DirectShift. I personally think Apple Carplay/Android Auto is not something that will make Lexus a serious threat because the average consumer doesn't use Apple Carplay and Android auto as a deal breaker. You have to look at the demographics of the people that usually buy Germans or Lexus. This is why Toyota has Apple Carplay because majority of people that buy Toyota will likely care about it. However, its not likely Lexus buyers will care a whole lot. Besides, Lexus is trying to push their App Suite instead of doing a partnerships.

Me and many others obviously would want a new platform on the Lexus IS. *Who doesn't like new things?* But, the Lexus IS was just introduced onto the New N Platform as of 2014, right after the GS was introduced to it in 2013. Strictly business speaking, it won't be smart for Toyota/Lexus to throw the Lexus IS off the New N Platform after only using it for 1 generation. (That would be a waste of money.) Previously, the Lexus IS was on the N Platform for 2 generations before jumping to the New N platform this generation. So, in theory, the Lexus IS *could* get the TNGA but the GS would have to get it first. My best guess is the Lexus IS will get it 5th generation - if it does get it. Its complex because the Lexus IS follows the GS in terms of platform. So, if the GS changes, the IS will. But the RC, is the basically the Coupe IS. So, if the GS changes, the IS and RC will both change too. This is why money is a big factor in how long they will use a platform. The Lexus IS 8Speed DirectShift Auto was introduced in 2014. Its a more aggressively geared automatic transmission than the Camry's version because Lexus markets the IS as their "Sports Sedan." The Camry's version is geared to be more eco-friendly and comfortable due to the demographics of buyers within its segment. *Cars is just business. A aggressive and jerky 8 speed sport auto in a Camry won't sell well because majority of the people that buy Camrys won't like that.*

Tyrone Long both are reliable. The Q50 will get you more power with their 3.0TT. I’d say it comes down to performance and styling.

The tires that are put on the car from the factory are absolutely garbage. Honestly, it's still a bit quieter in terms of wind noise, etc. than most other cars, but the tire roar is really pretty bad.

Acrux We’ve been asking Lexus for a rear drive IS 350 F-Sport for years now. They just seem to always have the AWD models in our DC area due to the weather conditions.

I think It was a marketing tactic "bringing back" the is300 to appeal to brand loyal Lexus owners but it would be cool if they stuffed twin turbo's in it like the new LS or a "3JZ" but they just made another midrange car

Luke We just never liked the IS 250 and IS 300 in this generation. We feel they’re too underpowered for the class. Especially when the new Camry and Accord top engines will smoke this in a straight line. We actually had a chance to drive the IS 200t or IS 350 RWD yet and the latter is the one we’d like to test out the most.

Sofyan did you ever get to actually drive this on a decent road? Most of your reviews, you go to back roads and such, but this appears to just be the freeways. In addition, you say it feels slow, but I didn't see any acceleration runs.

Probably the ECO light, to tell you if you're driving ECO-friendly. It can be turned off (which I recommend).

I had my is350 in the shop for a replacement dash (Lexus did it for free :D)...They gave me a loaner 2017 RX 350, and tbh...I was DYING To get my car back.

IS300 is AWD only. IS350 comes option of either RWD or AWD. Same engines but 300 is detuned so less power than 350.

For the 2018 - Lexus IS300 RWD (Turbo Engine), Lexus IS300 AWD (V6), Lexus IS350 (V6).

Nah AWD is good for the winter but I live in a place that never snows so I will take RWD over AWD all day any day.

elusivellama I don't think he really reviews them. He reads the brochure and pretends he knows about the car from it and he listens/views/reads other reviewers opinion about cars and he just repeats them or just add little bit here and there. If you notice, he just talks and talks... almost nonstop. Case in point, he said the F Sport package in the IS 300 is not needed because it only firms up the suspension. He ignored the fact that if you leave the drive mode to Eco or Normal, the ride itself is smooth... as it is in all Lexus cars. The F Sport package is pretty much the same as the standard suspension package except for the Sports S+ and Custom mode.

Absolutely. It's only limited by the ECU. RR Racing has a tune for this that essentially makes the output equivalent to that of the 350.

Jon Mario I test drove a couple lexuses and although they drive smooth, I feel no difference between a Lexus and a Civic, etc. Definitely not 50-80 thousand worth. I'll stick with my si every four-five years.

It offers Cooled Seats where the Q50 strangely doesn't. Q50 has a 7-speed auto, IS RWD has a 8-Speed. IS likely to be more reliable & have better resale value.

Trades46 its naturally aspirated so feels more lively than turbo, is more powerful when taking off.

No it is not; it feels like that likely for a second due to turbo lag, but the IS 200t makes peak 258lb/ft @ 1650rpm while the IS 300 only manages 236lb/ft @ 2000rpm. So not only the peak torque arrives earlier, but the I4 turbo actually more powerful taking off than the neutered V6. Again, if I wanted the IS with the V6, I skip the options and go for the IS 350 instead.

I drove an NX 200t not too long ago as a loaner, and the engine in that was pretty responsive. I would definitely keep my V6 though, even if it's detuned. No turbo lag and much better sound.

I driven the NX200t and the engine felt good. Not as powerful or lag free as Audi or BMW 2.0L turbos but it gets good MPG and still has decent power. The problem I have is the IS 300 V6 is really inefficient & artificially limited in power while retaining the fuel consumption of the significantly stronger IS 350.

NS well they had that same darn motor since 2006 and I’m saying this as Lexus owner. Toyota needs to copy MB playbook and return to the Inline 6.

The 2nd Gen IS350 was pretty quick and could keep up with a E90 335i. It’s just that Lexus didn’t update the engine for the 3rd gen that it can’t keep up with BMW now.

Samuel Wu exactly it’s just down right silly for Toyota to not even upgrade the 2GRFSE or throw an FI Turbo or Supercharger at least. Hence why the IS is overpriced for what its worth might as well saved thousands by getting a 2 Gen IS350. Toyota/Lexus has just gotten too lazy to take risks on powertrains.

There's barely any difference between the 17 and 18. The 18 has 5 more horsepower and all the safety equipment standard.

The 2018 model allows you to get memory seats with the F Sport package. For the 2018 year, they dropped the IS 200t name and it comes as: IS 300 RWD (2.0L 4 cylinder turbo charged engine), the IS 300 AWD (3.5L de tuned V6) and the IS 350 AWD and RWD (3.5L V6).

Almost 50k for This? You can get a q50 red sport for like 2k more with 400 hp
