2017 WRX Skid Plate Install (TBW Performance)

I installed the TBW skid plate and this thing looks sweet. The install was a bit tricky with getting the pieces lines up, but straightforward on what goes where. I hope this video helps others who purchase this plate or whoever is just interested in how it looks.

I still have it. It does a great job. It saved me from a big chunk of ice that probably would have ripped out my old plastic tray.

You should probably secure the front plate with the bolts if you had enough. As soon as something hits that front plate those pop clips won't hold up

Good idea. It would probably break free though from the bumper. With the bolts it may break the whole bottom part of the bumper.

What size are the bolts on the arms that thread into the car

I'm not sure the size. Anything that threads back into the car are the oem parts.

think i could run the plastic undertray PLUS the TBW?

I'm sure you could but it would require a lot of cutting and drilling. My opinion is to either do one or the other.

@@WRXSNOWBOARDER what if i try to put the TBW over the plastic? what would be the fitment problems with that u think?

@@thomashakim4861 I think it would cram the plastic up toward your headers. And you would have to drill some holes and trim the plastic to get the mounting holes to fit correctly. I spent a little time thinking of a similar plan but decided it wouldnt work correctly for me. You may be better off buying a thick piece of plastic and making your own. I honestly cant speak too much on this though since I didnt experiment with it.

Any issues with water getting in through the openings? Or if it even matters?

It doesnt matter either way. I wasnt too sure about it either when I bought it but there's been no difference. The strength this skid plate has vs the plastic is worth it to me.

Do the bolts that hold the bars on also hold the plate on?

Yes. The bolts hold the plate and the bars.

@@ect301fps I'm not sure why it would be giving you an issue. Make sure you pushing with some force to get the bolts to thread.

Sorry man. It's really easy to figure out. Just take out the push clips (one in each fender well) then remove the two 12mm bolts.

It's still on there. It's really sturdy as well. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to get rid of the plastic. That's just from my experience with it.
