"Aventure" is french for adventure, probably because it's located in Brownsburg, Qc.. *Note: Primitive Racing offer product on all Gen Outback LP Aventure offer starting from Gen 4

All my LPA stuff has held up great on the OBW. I have had to straighten one side up after a nice hit. I do use their front armor also.

Currently looking at skid plates, I like LP cover the cat as well and more trans area, but it doesn’t have the cut out up front for the jack point , and it looks like it left gap for snow to plow in (primitive have the option to add a snow guard )

I am still absolutely amazed you did that to your primitive skid. I've smashed a few rocks with mine with practically no damage. I like my primitive skids though, LP doesn't make anything for the forester wilderness yet. Should have picked up the diff skid before the prices were raised though.

I am not :) It bends pretty easily. That said, it is certainly useful and it is better for the skid to bend than what it attaches to.

@@JDS-Dalton It really wasn't. It was more so the angle it hit at peeled it open and then it drug later and peeled it further.

skidplate style only matters for catalytic connoisseurs (I had to look up how to spell that).

I’ve eaten potato chips that are thicker than 2 mm. The only thing i can think that would be useful for is lessen the amount of air that get swirling around the underside of the car.

The Honda Insight is a hybrid meant to get the best MPG possible, so that’s exactly what that skid is for.

Like Danny said, it's for very minor pebbles and airflow. The factory panels commonly disintegrate over time. But it's still advertised as a 'skid plate' and I had it in the garage so thought it was worth mentioning.

laser cut edge can be a little rough sometimes, drag a deburr tool then measure

I'm measuring with a harbor freight plastic digital caliper and the wrong size battery. I wasn't trying to be super precise.

How is the clearance loss? With their front bar you loose about 1.5” of clearance.

One caveat is that the 'Full Armor' Primitive set (Front, Mid, and Rear Diff) cost me $495 (including the $47 shipping from Washington to VA), the Front LP skid plate alone is $495 plus another $215 for the rear which would bring the total to $860 with shipping (gets down to $825 with your 5% discount code). If you have the money to spare though it certainly seems like the better option, all comes down to how much better it would really perform which is unproven 'yet' by your expert testing but I'm sure it will get some good use soon!

Which vehicle? I priced the 2017 Outback and was seeing $495 + shipping for LP versus $479 + shipping for Primitive. I didn't look at the rears at all (I don't actually run them) I guess it comes down to how much shipping would be but I would basically call both of those "$500 plus shipping" And planning on testing the LP out soon!

@@bruceyyyyy '17 3.6R This was a year ago so the prices may have been raised, however they give a 15% discount for triple armor (front, mid, rear) and a 10% one for full armor (front and mid). Shipping for primitive was $47 and when I got it quoted from LP is was $150 I think. I have no doubt LP makes quality products and quite possibly the best however I've always felt they are overpriced for my liking. All that said I do have a set of their LP7 wheels lol.

@@RLB540 Ah, you're right about the discount. I hadn't thought about promos etc. So yeah I guess the LP is more $ but will say I'm still impressed with it. Makes me curious how it would have handled that bad angle. I'll find out soon!

@@bruceyyyyy lol now don't go purposely bashing that beautiful plate dangit! Every ding in my plates is a hopeful lesson learned on taking a better line or having more patience haha. Luckily for me I go wheeling with my buddy in his lifted 4Runner with steel plates so he can send it and let me and my other friend in a Forester judge the best line after the carnage unfolds.

@@RLB540 Ha! That's the job for my Suburban but when we did Canaan a few months back I lead hence mine got the most carnage. The burb just lost a cheezy side step which I wanted to remove anyway. I'm still overall pretty satisfied with primitive. I've had their plates on at least: My 2000 Outback, the wifes 06 Baja, my 13 XV, my 15 OB, and my 17 OB. Just wanted to try something new this time. I will no double modify the thing down the road. (:

I had a Green Citrus Insight with that 'skid plate' and now have an Outback. lol. Had the OEM Subaru skid plate and sold it. Hmm Primitive or LPA...?? I live in the snow belt...

That's all good until your lp aventure plate destroys your sub frame but i guess if you're negligent enough you can do that with any skid plate.

Fixing rattling skidplates? Went on a trail here in California. Pretty 'smooth' trail. I'm stock. The next day after, my plate starts rattling. I loosed it from 13 torque to 8 torque and the rattling is miminal, but I want to get rid of it fully. It seems to only happen in reverse. Do I need sound dampening stuff on the top of the plate?

It might not be the worse idea. It might also just be dirty. I've had some small gravel get stuck in the vents that mimic a rattle.

On my Crosstrek, some of the available skidplates mount to the radiator support. In that case, I would actually prefer a thinner metal that is more likely to bend, than one that is thick and rigid. There are many stories of radiators being damaged on impact. LP Aventure gets around this by mounting their plate to a bush bar, but you lose ground clearance and approach angle. I'm not sure if this is true for other Subaru models. Just a random thought.

The primitive was mounted to the radiator support and did bend some.

I dented both the radiator support and the center brace on the driver's side when I dropped onto a rock. The skid plate was barely damaged. I now have to run washers for spacers to keep the skid plate from hitting my headers.

I do not recommend the primitive racing skid plate. I ordered one and paid extra to have a hole drilled so that i could access the oil drain plug. The hole is way too small and does not allow proper access.
