2019 Acura NSX Test Drive Review: The Future Is Here, Deal With It

5 жыл бұрынHaving first hit the market in 2017, the second-gen #Acura #NSX has been updated for 2019 with new colors, tires, minor tuning changes, and standard features. While it still features lackluster infotainment and a less-than-steller exhaust note, the NSX still has the most unique powertrain in the segment.
The 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 pairs with three electric motors to produce 573 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque going out to SH-AWD through a nine-speed dual-clutch automatic. 0-60 mph takes just 3.0 seconds and the top speed is a whopping 191 mph. No car in this segment handles quite like the NSX thanks to its front-mounted electric motors and few mid-engine supercars can match the NSX's level of comfort. It truly feels like a supercar you could drive every day.

@@furretthefuzzynoodle3896 The NSX is only legendary because it is old. No one really appreciated it when it was new, hence why hardly anyone bought one. This car is completely different but we think it moves the bar forward for sports cars just as the original did.

Future classic. It is stunning in every way, engineering, looks, performance, build, reliability and comfort. This is one of the cars that people who own it just love it. The press, well, if its not German, Italian or a Mac it does not get a look in. I know what I would have all day long, a NSX please.

I truly love this car with all the hybrid power, its a competitor to P1 and La Ferrari at a fraction of a price. Having that said, Honda should really consider making a non-hybrid model of this car, a true mid engine, real wheel drive.

Yeah, the way the hybrid system works is actually really neat. It captures usually wasted inertia during braking and uses that to charge the batteries. Ok, you can't realistically drive far with electric only, but you don't have to plug in your car for hours just to drive to the store. The fact that it isn't a plug-in hybrid is a major plus in my opinion.

I wanna see this pitted against the McLaren P650 er 700. Im hoping my project goes well enough for me to buy this as my treat. It seems like a great GT car in addition to a track weapon, but the infotainment SUX ACURA get your sh8t together and put a good system in there. Its out of the 2000's c'mon. Make a great HUD.

I just ran across this review and decided to watch it. A few comments...Indeed you can drive to your local grocery under electric power only! Simply turn the car to quiet mode and drive it away! The store I live near allows me to drive mine in complete stealth mode! I drive mine daily, that was the main reason I bought one! I wanted to "play" at times and this car absolutely fills all my juvenile desires even @ 60 years of age.

The engine will kick on if you go at any moderate speed. It doesn't have a "full" electric mode like a plug-in, is what we meant.

You want more quiet mode? Bigger batteries more weight and even less feeling of the road and motor than the hybrid technology already in it...I think that would be a mistake and might kill the car off. Just my opinion seeing as I own one. The only part of the hybrid tech that I like is the direct drive motors that will save so much wear and tear on your drive train and the increased safety and handling in corners and braking capabilities that are surpassed by no one in its class.

Manufacturer rebate 20,000 is in effect so it helps a bit. I read you can also negotiate another 10,000 off on top of that.

I hate when folks says that it doesn't sound like "something". Most of us aren't uneducated 10 year olds anymore. Act ike it. Funny when people pretending to be high tech, or at least tech-savvy, can't appreciate new engine technology. More than a bit hypocritical.

Maybe someone will come out with a plug-in conversion mod, similar to what people were doing to the Prius pre-2011. 8 to 10 kWh battery in the trunk space should give it 20 to 30 miles of range, under 35 mph.

The manual seats are for weight saving, that is probably why there are some people who have gotten a 2.8 second launch, I would also guess that heated seats are also missing on that version. I would hate a purely EV NSX. A hybrid system gives you a lot more freedom, and an actual engine sound that a pure EV can't manage. The NSX is branded as a super car, and a daily driver and pure EVs in my opinion aren't there yet. Also, the new NSX is a direct competitor to the Ferrari 458, and it's faster than the 458!

The NSX is my dream-car, a #1 on my list for when I hit the lottery. A great review, thank you, however I will disagree with you about the lack of a volume knob for the audio system... I have a 2016 Accord EX-L V6 that I purchased new and very much like adjusting the audio volume via the toggle on the steering wheel spoke - personally, I think that a knob on the dash would unnecessarily break up the styling

Honda is bringing back the volume knob, most consumers complained about it. But it's a small detail. There's always the adjustment on the wheel. Thanks for watching!

This guy is distracting in how he looks like he's talking to someone next to and behind the cameraperson. The camera angles are conceived for direct eye contact and then the guy talking doesn't give it that. Either look into the camera or the cameraperson has to use different angles.

@@lincolnsouzalopes4875 The NSX is more advanced because it came out years later. The GT-R is a bit easier to tune but this has that magic hybrid system. GT-R is stiffer and more raw.

Instead of laying down coin on this disaster I would get a good used 1st Gen NSX and put a supercharger kit on it with no more than 9 lbs of boost, for reliability and longevity.

Why do testers know nothing about the car and just know a spec sheet? The stuff under the hood isn’t electric motors open up a original nsx hood and you’ll find the same thing! It’s a radiator, battery and brake equipment. The electric motors are under the car.

this is the oddest car review i have ever seen. not a single shot of the car in motion or the instrumentation, not even for the launch control... lots of good info but where is the car in the car review? no start up no revs... not even a quiet moment to hear the engine with the windows down... plenty imaginative sound effects of that 9 speed... im not a hater or troll, i subscribed, but just saying...

Entertainment system in Honda is s**t. I have brand new Civic and is absolutely disaster. Laggy climate control, voice recognition hardy recognized anything, screen mirroring doesn't work etc. I spoke with Honda about it and Honda acknowledge the problem, but they won't do the update for entertainment system.

Enlarging those front batteries for the sake of setting it up as a daily hybrid makes no sense at this point. Adding weight to the front end on an already heavy car to add daily electric driving is just stupid. All the great things you said about filling the gap in throttle aka eliminating boost and the torque vectoring of the front end would be jeopardized. Imagine you just used the car on electric mode and hit the mountains and curvy roads. Oops no assist on steering on the front end. The brakes have not regenerated the front batteries yet. Doesn't it make more sense to let the batteries do just what they were placed in the car for. Go buy yourself a Tesla if you want electric.

the le ferrari took the old NSX styling cues and made it what it is today. the NSX path was suppose to look like the le ferrari. instead they chose an american women which i think was a mistake. not saying this car looks ugly but the looks didn't surpass expectations of what buyers were looking for.

Ugly. My $34K 370Z sport coupe looks much nicer, turns lots of heads and gets nice compliments. It's also a blast to drive.

I love the 370z as well but... this NSX is far from Ugly its a sexi beast.
