Kia has really stepped it up. I'm a Toyota guy but I must say this is a nice little car.

Passenger perspective was a really good idea, you may have a thing here, nobody really covers that in reviews.

This car is probably the best option in the compact sedan market. 1. Its a good looking car 2. Yes it has a CVT but it’s different from other cvt’s in market mimics automatic which is a nice thing 3. Heated seat, steering wheel & 8” display as standard with ACP & AA. 4. Kia has one of the best warranty in the market better than honda n toyota 5. Price is competitive it’s more value for money specially EX gives so much features 7. Fuel economy is better than previous automatic version These things are enough may be they put independent suspension on the higher trim as kia listen to customers. These things i miss in honda n toyota.

Your review for the Forte is great. It helped me to make a purchase decision and I love the car for what it was intended for. I also have an E46 M3 so I’m not looking for the Forte to be my sports car. The handling is actually very good, it’s excellent on gas and it just feels and looks like a car that isn’t cheap. Perfect for a daily driver and fits the whole Family with room to spare. I subscribed and have watched your other videos.

Now that Kia has put out the Forte GT, a lot of your complaints have been addressed. It's got an option for manual or automatic with paddle shifters, and it's turbo charged. Would love to see you guys tackle a review on that one.

For a long time I was a Nissan buyer. I loved the feel and quality of the cars, but I was given a Kia Rio, (I guess my parents really didn't like my motorbike), and this year I bought my 4th. I don't see any point in spending money for things in a car when they are standard in a Kia. The quality is great, the drive is great for me, I am not an 'expert' on cars, I just know what I like and what I don't. The main thing I like about the Kia is definitely the price. I looked at one make with a price tag of 'FROM $16.990.00', but after talking to the salesman, what I wanted was about $5000.00 from it. What was extras on that, was standard on my Kia. As someone who does an average amount of driving, I will stick with Kia.

In Australia the Forte (Cerato) still has the older 6spd Auto, (YES NO CVT!)

They have a turbo charged model with independent rear suspension! IT is the GT (In Australia at least). Not sure about that DSG transmission though

You should do a review of the 2021 Forte5 GT Manual! There's no videos or reviews out there but most of the reviews for the 2020 model had the lack of manual transmission as the main negative point.

I drive in a LOT of traffic. 5 days a week half hour drive to work and back. Thinking about getting the GT. Would the DCT not be a good choice for me? I've heard the dct transmissions aren't a fan of slow driving in traffic.

You should review the 2020 Kia Forte GT, bought one recently and its pretty surprising.

Other than leather seats, and the heated steering wheel, and adaptive cruise, my 2018 has all this and illuminated door handles! It’s a great car and Is definitely feature packed.

I was very impressed by the looks of it when I saw one for the first time, but my next car has got to be decently sound-proofed. Maybe it's age, but that drone on the highway gets to me.

The driving modes are great, especially the smart option too. I do wish the car had Custom Mode which allows you to change the steering, engine & transmission separately like the Kia Stinger. Adaptive suspension would be amazing. The engine is MPFI and not GDI, so reliability should be pretty good. You will not find much of this technology in Japanese compact cars & most midsize sedans. I believe Kia & Hyundai give drivers more control over driving dynamics in their vehicles than most other cars under 30K.

It's based on the 2017 Elantra, but with the new IVT transmission. I had a 2018 Elantra and loved it. He's pretty spot-on with his assessment. It's a very pleasant car and feels a class above for what it is. Great built quality. Comfortable. Handles well. Quiet. For an affordable economy car, the power is more than adequate. It's not fast, but it feels zippy.

Test drove a 2021 EX yesterday. Flooring it to get on the freeway the engine sounded quite smooth and not loud given the class. The ride was also fairly quiet for a compact. I got it up to 85 MPH and it didn't seem unduly loud. Seriously, it seemed like a nice, refined small car. The car I have now is a 2021 Subaru Legacy Touring XT which is probably the quietest and nicest riding midsize car. I didn't really notice the Forte being that much worse. Of course it wasn't as good as my Subaru, but I didn't feel like it was a punishment box by any stretch. I enjoyed driving it around my town.

At least the 3 still has Mazda's excellent 6spd auto transmission or a proper 6 spd manual though. If reviews are positive, then I might be willing to give the 3 a pass. It looks that good and that skyactive x engine sounds very interesting.

My brand new leased 2019 Kia Forte EX sedan with CVT transmission lasted a total of 3 months just under 4,000 kms on the odometer and transmission totally "died" - currently at the dealership waiting for back-ordered new transmission scheduled to arrive in next 4-6 weeks to be replaced by warranty.

I really do like the styling and consistency with the other cars in their fleet, but no SX in the sedan just seems like a missed opportunity to me. The suspension is my biggest knock on my 2011 sx (6sp), but that was a fun car to drive (once you get over the rev hang, throttle dead spot and sprung clutch). It just seems like Hyundai fixed all those things and more in the same general price point with the Elantra sport, GT, and even the Veloster Turbo. Sup Kia?

I like the windows down myself, so quiet is a non-factor.

The older you get the more risk averse you become. And for parents (like me) who are buying a first car for a kid it's a major priority. () Premium and accommodating interior. Check. Trips to and from college are easier when you can stuff a Forte full to the brim. In addition to all of those factors, the Forte plays another important role for KIA. Brand loyalty isn't what it used to be but manufacturers recognize the value of capturing a first time owner's purchase. If that experience is a good one the same buyer is more likely to consider the brand when they upgrade or when their needs change. In short KIA can afford to forego a significant portion of their profit on a Forte if the next purchase is an Optima or a Sportage and the purchase after that is a Sorento, a Cadenza, a Stinger or whatever else KIA comes up with by that time.

Driving experience of this vs the new Jetta?

I bought mine and the next morning the check engine light was on. The cylinder was messed up.

In 2022 our 2019 Kia Rio began to bellow white smoke that reeked of gasoline. After a little research I found that it had a fuel pump mounted to the valve train. Took car to dealer, and dealer said that warrenty was exceeded by mileage, and part not part of drive train, and not covered by drivetrain warrenty. New pump was going to be $1200.00 installed, and part backorder was going to be five weeks minimum. I asked if spun bearings due to gasoline in crankcase, and burning car were covered under drive train warrenty, and they hung up on me. Called corporate and they advised part was covered under drivetrain warrenty because contract is in owners manual which has no fine print whatsoever. For the sake of expediency I bought brand new pump from another manufacturer, for $150.00 which arrived in three days, and then spent ten minutes replacing pump. It has run fine until recently when Rio was stolen, and severely damaged when run over a curb whicvh broke engine from transmission plus window broken, column trashed, and wipers broken off because thief accidentally started wipers when breaking column to steal. Kia denied ever hearing of theft problem. Kia wqanted two hours troubleshooting to give estimate for repair. I said I already know what is wrong with car so just fix it. Then Kia at insisted we prepay repair bill before work began. I asked how they could possibly know what was wrong with car ahead of time, and that must be a new thiung where dealer wont fix car unless you prepay. Told wife to leave car at Kia dealer. Kia said they would have it towed away for being parked illegally. I called corporate who has brand new stolen Kia runaround line dedicated to irritating customers who have had their Kias stolen already, and they hung up on me. I called the Bureau of automotive repair filed complaint then they had me call the federal trade comission where I also filed complaint. Since my wife is Thai I called a local Los Angelus Thai language newspaper to see if they would do a survey of their Thai community who owned Kia cars, and they agreed (my wife knows the owner of the paper). Accidentally recieved phone call from Kia corporate in which they accidentally gave me a direct line right back to the woman who hung up on me. I called, and informed her of my actiopns. She said the whole thing is a misunderstanding on their part if I already had the insurance check in my hand, and NOW the dealership WOULD look at theft damaged car but my wife had to go in and sign a permission slip. Keep in mind Kia is required by a class action lawsuit to repair these cars, and pay all related expenses. My insurance company shouild not have to pay anything to anyone as Kia has been found responsible for fasiling to protect these cars from theft properly. My wife is making monthly payments on this car, and it has been damaged, and undriveable for three months as I write this causing us to buy another car. Considered renting one and backcharging Kia, but I am not an ass looking to make the reimbursement as expensive as possible for Kia, I just want them to fix it. They are dragging their feet at the customers expense, and are downright rude about it once you get them to stop lying. I have purchased two new Kia products lifetime, and will NEVER EVER buy another

I have a 2017 base trim in manual. It has been a reliable good car with 67k miles. However, it is such a slow ass car lol. I'm ready for a new and faster car in 2024.

I have a 173 horsepower EX, thing moves quite well. Now they rate the same motor for 147, AND a CVT? No thanks. They lost me. Dropping the Optima from 274 to 245 was also a no go. They're literally shoving me over to Honda and Mazda at this point.

Forget a turbo charger, these motors are catching fire, Kia just needs to make more reliable motors, instead think of a nice 2.5L DOHC VVT equivalent tuned to about 250 to 300HP. Maybe reverse engineer Honda or Toyota motors but not copy, just build on the engine designs. Offer more standard transmission vehicles as they are more fun to drive and for those of us that don't want a CVT transmission that will likely fail within 100k miles. Just some thoughts Kia if you're listening.

Have it as a rental 1 day so far.The steering wheel could come down more.Suspension is not as good as the Corolla Hatch,which I drove last night.It is quieter on hard acceleration than the Toyota.The Toyota was a nicer car over all.

I have a 2017 LX 6mT. About the same wheelbase, power and weight (Civic LX about 80lb less). The well equipped Civic would freaking driver circles around this Forte. And unlike most other engines that sedately rev-out to redline, it's a balancing act with the Civic (which you'd expect in a sports car), shift it too soon and you chirp the tires (which will lose momentum) or risk having the rev-limiter cut power. It takes some fast shifting to get it right. Forte would have to be king of the toilet bowl to get any driving cred. Unfortunately, for some unknown reason, Honda has assigned its base Civic LX (with detuned 2.0L K-Series engine and same chassis as Type-R) to the toil-bowl arena and while in there, the competitions are screwed.

Forte5 (hatch) with 1.6T, independent rear suspension and 7 speed DCT would be a perfect warm hatch daily driver! They already do it with the Elantra GT (i just don't like its interior) so I don't see why they wouldn't with Kia. The 2018 Forte5 turbo is around 31k so it's not even that expensive, much better than a stripped down Golf GTI

This is a move backwards for Kia. They tried to copy what the Jetta did and focus nothing on the driving experience and just overload it with tech. Torsion beam rear suspension, same slow engine from priior gen, and a CVT. Hard pass. At Least the Jetta has a geared automatic. The Forte is definelty going to compete with Nissan in the rental fleets
