Happy to help. Keep in mind most S1000s have now the Nissin caliper, which is slightly different then the one in this video which is Hayes caliper of the 2020 model.

Helpful video Armin! question- do you rely on “automatic” linked brakes, or do you actually reach for the rear pedal ? on my ‘18, the pedal is so far down, that it’s just painful and inconvenient to reach for it :(, stock controls..

Happy it was useful ! For the track I don't use any rear and yes the integral or linked braking system takes care of using some pressure on the rear. I only use the rear when stopping or off-roading. On a sportbike 96%+ comes from the front brake, so most trackday riders just ignore the rear .

I like your explanation for initial bite/feel. Don’t know if its true but sounds very logical. Under heavier breaking the system should normalise. Are the carbon front calibre air cowls any goos? Would you recommend them? Thanks for sharing break pad replacement and clean.

Well I don't design brake calipers, so my explanation is probably not 100% technical correct :) The Carbon cooler ducts do reduce the temperature of the calipers and pads . If you have your system overheat on track then, yes they are helpful for you. If you don't ride track don't bother with them :)

@@MonoMoto thanks for your reply. Yes using on track. Just bought a new S1000RR and planning on getting in a few track days in 2022. Upgrading from a s1000r where I experienced brake fade on track (I upgraded to a Brembo 19 master cylinder - best add on I bought for that bike). I will try with Brembo master cylinder and carbon brakes before I invest. Thanks again.

@@chrisgoes9610 the Brembo MC makes a huge difference. I wouldn’t got for carbon pads but racing brake pads either from Brembo z04 (very pricey) or alpha racing pads (medium pricey)

@@MonoMoto Thanks man. I will look into these options. I have previously used a carbon composite (bought track side when caught off guard with worn out stock pads), they were excellent but do take a moment to get heat into them to be effective (a bit dangerous on the road, actually lethal in the cold and rain). SBS dual carbon was recommended by a well know UK Moto journalist but i will explore with cost vs performance. Thanks again for your feedback. (Can’t wait to get on track and see what this weapon can do).

Could you please do a rear brake pad change too?

I will if I ever wear a rear pad out. But so far I owned 5 RRs and not once wore a rear pad out. Front goes once per year though :)

Have you since tried these pads on the alpha rotors? I'm looking to buy that package from them, these pads with the 6mm rotors. My bike is track only btw
@MonoMoto
@MonoMoto Жыл бұрын
Yes tried them for the track and they are awesome - just don’t use them on the road , they destroy rotors at low temps .
Magic trick 🪄😁
