I have a confession. I saw the new C8 Corvette from a different light today. I usually have to grow into liking a car, but this time I grew out of liking a car, given that I liked it right off the bat. Sometimes down the line, maybe 3-5 years later I ask myself how I could have liked a car. Today, I did that with the Corvette. The Ferrari has a nice shape, the lambo has a nice shape. This car looks like someone designed the front and someone else designed the boxy back. The boxy back takes a lot away for the asthetic. Even though the sales will be great, because there are so many people excited about the redesign and all the power, lots of people will have the same negative feeling about the car. It looks like a 2000 concept Corvette, that already aged. I think it's the boxy back of the car that makes it look that way. Don't get me wrong, it's gonna sell like crazy.

One of the major benefits of the mag shocks is that they greatly improve the ride of the Z51 to almost as good as the base suspension so unless you want to track the car there is no reason to opt for the Z51 as the standard suspension rides even better (this is per Corvette Consierge) . I think it is the Performance Exhaust, not the Z51 package that adds the 5 hp so you can spend $1200 and get the extra hp on the base car. The C8 looks much better without the ugly spoiler so that is another reason to save money and not go with the Z51.

@Dan Wipper I would absolutely spend on the convertible vs the Z51but do you think you will actually put top down that much. Have had a lot of convertibles over many years but even in San Diego where the weather is about as good as it gets I rarely put the top down. The nice thing about the C8 is that when the top is up it is 100% a closed coupe with all the advantages and security and you can drop/put up the top in 16 sec at up to 30 mph so it is really the best of both worlds.

I find it interesting that, with the threat of climate change hanging over our heads, we are still opting for V-8s that are mostly good for waking up the neighbors on Sunday morning. A turbo 6 cylinder will press you back into your Recaro seats and make you feel like a king of the road. I have a turbo 4 that produces a mere 245 HP and it allows me to pass quickly and cruise comfortably at 70mph at 2000 rpm. I genuinely didn`t like it to a point if I were to have it I`ll add Z51 parts to make it look better. You and many people in the comment section hates the C8 wheels but they look good enough to me. I do wish more aggressively designed options were available, but I think it`s good enough to make it look like a supercar. You'll be waiting a long time. But you might find an old high mileage C-7 for that much
@jagpilotohio4 жыл бұрын
Sure. You could definitely do that. They’ll likely depreciate about $5000-$6000 a year and the average car with a few options will cost $70,000, so you’ll be waiting about 6-7 years.

@@767stick I do agree I don't think anyone usually get tired of Corvettes anyway. Most of them have clubs and other things that they're interested in where they could show what their purchase with other people who like the same thing. So I probably wouldn't look into that as much. However there are people that work at the Chevrolet dealer that test drive these cars all the time and sell them for a lot less than you think. That one could be a good choice

I like to mod my cars, so I am thinking of getting the base model and work from there. Plan is to build a track monster not just a track capable car. It already has the horsepower, so all I need to do is upgrade the brakes and suspension. Horsepower can always be added later.
@samualwhittemore2284 жыл бұрын
The Z51 package has serious cooling upgrades needed for the track. Additional radiator, oil cooler etc.. You might want to check out the details on that package.

The basic black interior would have made Henry Ford happy if it was one of his cars. Henry in the beginning would sell you a car any color as long as it was black all over, model T!

Campagna t-rex pretty sweet as well. When one wheel putting the power down it's 0-60 time is pretty impressive. Better power to weight ratio as well with it. Yes it's classified as a motorcycle though but in all honesty it's much more of a car than a motorcycle. New corvette though is pretty nice.

You will very rarely ever see a manual in modern sports cars they are all getting away from them...these cars are just too technically advanced and powerful for manual transmissions...and with modern automatics a human physically can't out shift them anymore

Good video. I have not yet decided on 1 or 2LT. Couple things you didn't mention that lean me to 2LT are the blind spot detection and video recording capability. Two huge safety considerations. Nice job on the video ... MORE!

Has everyone forgotten that this is supposed to be a Sports Car? When the upgrades only get you a fraction faster, oh but you can have this wonderful stitching and all this other heavy stuff you don't really want or need. Don't get me wrong. It is a total rethinking by Chevrolet to have a rear engine Corvette and as with most other cars the first production year offers less as far as engine or hp upgrades go but this car has waaaay too many fuzzy dice and butt warmers for a supposedly new model line. Better get the Turbo model on the way by July GM!
@mesudkeskic75314 жыл бұрын
I agree, the base model would do me just fine. In red. Just a mattar of when, it takes a bit longer to arrive here down under. Safe driving to all.
@senpai42024 жыл бұрын
Plot twist, wheels were one of the last thing to be considered while they spent a long time putting the rest of the car for price reasons. Maybe they just figured there'd be so much popularity for it, aftermarket wheels would be available all over the place.

Like you said, there isn't a big enough leap of performance for the Z51 trim over the base to warrant the price difference. That being said the best bet would be to get a base model to review and put through its paces while waiting for a higher tier performance model like the Z06 or ZR-1.

I'll probably wait two or three years for Corvette to work out all the bugs. Everyone knows first year production cars always have some bug to work out, so I'll wait. I'll probably be paying a bunch more in 2023 but if they get it right, then it's worth the wait.

I don’t think any new car comes close to the value of the c8.. I would say things like the rs5, m4, rcf, q60 red sport might b more desirable to SOME*, but damn that c8 is something else

It does seem like the best option in the 60k range. We need tests of this vs the current top cars in the 60-80k price range. Cayman S, Alpine, M2, Supra (tuned, if the other cars are high spec, that engine makes about 450hp with a pretty cheap ecu remap). Then add something exotic (not latest gen) to the mix, like a 458 or GT3
