@rotor134 жыл бұрын
Of course you can. It will just take a long time. I’m in the middle of a similar process of restoring a beat to shit FD RX-7 with a 3-rotor setup. The pain in the ass part I’m stuck at, is removing the front radiator support to make room for a better cooling system, but still be able to mount the OEM number without actually extending the from end. There isn’t an off-the-shelf setup I like so I’m ended up buying a totaled FD so I can hack up the front end metal to make my cuts and test fit everything before committing it to the actual car. I’m going V-mount setup in this case. But the mounting areas aren’t to my liking, considering I want to keep a/c, and all relays in the same position, and need to make some room for mounting Twin oil coolers and such. It’s a challenge. I’ve been working at this for about a year so far. Hopefully once I get everything fitted and finalized, I can work on making sure the entire engine bay is where I want it and can get the 3-rotor fired up and playing nice with everything by Spring of next year, so that I can be able to at least drive it to work out any bugs with the drivetrain before ripping it all out for body work. Mind you, I’m doing this all by myself in my spare time. With occasional help from friends when I need an extra set of hands. I practically have no social life and won’t have one until I finish this build. But I do take breaks from it when I need wait for parts to be delivered.

He runs a factory backed team, He gets most of this stuff for free plus he has a budget from Toyota and AEM I believe. If I were to put a number on how much of his budget he has spent (not including tools he has in his shop) I would put it at about 80-100k out of pocket. However If we factored in MSRP into the build assuming he paid for everything, It would be probably around the $350-500k mark.

Same here, if the initial vehicle is sponsored, the car may only cost ~50K in parts to create, but the total team budget for the season is ~1M.

If you print it in ABS plastic, suspend it in a container filled with acetone without submerging it, and boil the acetone, then the vapors will settle onto the part and reseal the surface. This fuses all of the layers together and makes the part several times stronger. I do with all of my ABS parts. It makes them damn near indestructible. Lmao I hope he reads this, it's a very useful technique.
@y__h4 жыл бұрын
@@TheDeathskull37 Does that work for the internal structure or just the surface?
