@@Lucky8s Rev hang wouldn't keep the turbo spooled. Turbo is spooled from exhaust pressure during acceleration, when switching gears, gas pedal is released thus turbo loses pressure. Rev hang is implemented for lower emissions

It sounds like it's broken. I had a 2007 Civic manual, it did this too. Utter garbage, I traded it in after six months it was such a pile. Only time I ever traded in a vehicle, I just wanted it gone.

I test drove a brand new 2020 Si wanting to love it. I think it looks great, the chassis is amazing for what it is and the interior is so well put together and purposeful. The rev hang alone is keeping me out of this car. You literally have to wait 2.5-3.5 seconds between each gear. To drive smoothly on a twisty road like this you’re best bet is to just leave it in a single gear and pretend it’s not a 6 speed manual anymore.

@@bgo619 there were plenty of moments throughout the video where he could’ve up-shifted, lets say from 2nd to 3rd gear, but he refused to do so resulting on an extreme high rev to the point where the car itself is pretty much screaming at you for an up-shift.

Simple to get around, you just press the clutch and hold it in for 2 seconds, then shift. Enjoy your "performance" car.

when turning left you always shufel the wheel but not when turning right, you might have problems when you visit a track, just pointing it out i dont want to be rude or anything. ty for the video

s1rk0rcracer i just noticed that. When turning right apparently his body language are somewhat being defensive towards the oncoming traffic that he couldn't see but when turning left he is more relaxed because he can see the traffic better.

When an engine goes from high revolutions to a sudden drop in RPM , the engine runs rich momentarily. This causes an increase in oxides of nitrogen, it’s mitigated by rev hang.

Why is the rpm not coming down when he tries to press the clutch and shift? There is a lurch forward after every shift up. Something is stuck. Not fully letting go of the throttle?

Rev hang. The rpm's are hanging for a second or two before slowly dropping down. My car had it bad before I disabled it. Nearly impossible to drive the car smoothly with the rev hang. Kills the driving experience and makes the car so goddamn annoying to drive. You will need to disable it if you buy an Si.

When you watch the video, pay attention to when he shifts gears. The engine stays at a high rev for a few moments before it shifts the gears. Its hard to put in words.

When you rev the car up and put the clutch in and the rpm's hang there for a second or two before slowly dropping down. Makes the car beyond annoying to drive. I bought a Hondata FlashPro just to disable it in my car. Car drove so goddamn rough and was so jerky before I got it disabled.

Have you owned other Civics? What do did you buy? I own an 18 SI. I enjoy the car but more power would be welcome. I don't think I will buy another one unless Honda ups the horsepower?

Took this car for a test drive, was horrendous. So sad how the Si was a great fun budget car (8th + 9th gen) now it has no personality.. And the rev hang is a deal breaker for sure.

That limited slip, stiff steering, and adaptive suspension is great ... the 10th gen beat the 9th gen si on the track by a lot. Rev hang is the only issue base tune will help with that

Sadly they left the rev hang for fuel efficiency since they want this to be a fun car around corners and to be daily driven. I believe the type r launching in america ruined what this car could have been without rev hang.

The rev hang deal tends to be with newer cars so the 90's engine comment makes no sense to me. It is programmed into the ECM by manufactures these days to lower emissions so they can meet Government requirements. Typically you can get it tuned out of most cars but then you void your warranty.

These are a lot cheaper than GTI though in GTI is in the 30k+ price range. They're the most luxurious of the Eco cars both in price and function. Your looking at 25k for this, which isn't bad.

I can see you must accomplish some learning driving manual transmissions. That was painful. The whole road could’ve be done in 3rd even 4th gear and downshifting when needed. Not the opposite. This could’ve been a fun video.

Joseph De Guzman I own this exact same car in a coupe form and you cannot shift smooth at all. The revs hang forever. I daily drive mine and can’t ever get a smooth shift. I can wait as long as I want to shift, the car will still jolt and it’s a pesky thing Honda did. It’s very annoying. Whether you’re going stoplight you stoplight or hard in the curves, you’re never gonna get shifting down to a T in this new gen SI’s. Not unless you spend $650 for a tune and even then that eliminates your warranty on a car with a shotty clutch. These clutches are known to be hit or miss and for this reason right here, you can’t ever shift smoothly

@@ATA_Blake Just got the coupe myself, shifting can definitely be hit or miss. The one I test drove seemed to shift smoother than the one I bought😅, but still shifting smoothly is possible, just not easy. Seems to be simpler in the lower rpms, but once you send it, it takes a small miracle to have a nice shift. Still enjoying the car, but not much you can do with the emissions standards.
