I had the first one registered and on the road in the UK, 2017. I had been looking to change from my 750 Honda shadow to something lighter. My partner new this might be suitable for me. The Rebel hit the showrooms on the Friday I bought mine on the Saturday morning. Love it ..changed the exhaust put some handlebar risers on to help with the reach added a couple of other bits. Taken it around the country done nearly 14, 000 miles, it's not missed a beat 😉 Great review love the fact you took on the motorway 😉

No way does this bike get 90 mpg… I own one, and the best I get is 60. I do live in the mountains so that cuts down on my fuel efficiency somewhat. But nobody gets 90 miles per gallon in real world riding. Having said that, I love my rebel 500 and it is a great bike and compared to other mid weight bikes, it is very fuel efficient, very reliable, and lots of fun!

Thanks for the detailed review. The idea of buying this bike (would be my first motorcycle) is tickling the back of my mind though it yet remains a velleity. I don't plan any long rides, so I'm trying to decide between 300 and 500. I would definitely take a safety course and buy all the safety gear. Other random observations: interesting how your units are a mix of standard and metric. Those hedgerows and trees are so close to the road! Not allowed here in the states for driving safety. Beautiful scenic roads and byways. stay safe

Another great review! I instinctively feel that thus far this bike has been underrated by the mainstream motorcycle media so thanks for reviewing it from the point of view of the average rider. That exhaust is the icing on the cake and an affordable addition given the low base price for the Rebel. So cards on the table, Mark, which of the four 500cc Honda bikes would you buy having tested them all now?
@markpulling123 жыл бұрын

mark pulling No worries mate. I’m a huge computer nerd so if you need any advice let me know. If your laptop is as old as you say though then you are most likely right about it being the CPU. My friend let me ride his cmx500 last week. We went on a little road trip North Manila. Definitely a fun little bike to ride. I would say a great starter bike for those getting into bigger bikes for the first time. Being such a low rider I found it was very stable at lower speeds, super easy to turn. The lack of RPM counter made me realize how much I usually check mine. The panel is hard to read in sunlight, which is a big factor out here in the Philippines. It would bother me in the long run if I owned this bike. I found the seat and riding position excruciating. I couldn't ride it for more than 2 hours at a time, especially for the knees. (I am 5'10) I found the saddle to be uncomfortable for the crotch area and the gearbox to be protruding a bit too much. It would be a very nice bike for a woman I think. It's got loads of character and a real joy to ride. I totally agree that this bike is happy around 60-65mph not really meant to ride faster than that I don't think.

@jamesscicluna47583 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with this video and funnily enough you mentioned everything I felt as I went for various rides......I got this exact same model.....I 'm 5'8" and it has a very comfortable ride....471cc engine very reliable, slipper clutch works beautifully and gear shifting is smooth as silk. The exhaust as standard is hideously ugly but I will change it to a twin exhaust as the finances get better. Seat is not that comfortable for long 3hr journeys but that as well can be increased with extra padding....

A bit low for me, but the low-down grunt would be great for the city. Much improved back light which was the worse thing about the last model. If the seat was a bit higher and the pegs slightly further back, I may be tempted. They are quite cheap in Thailand. Even with a bad exchange rate, they are only about 5,500 GBP. My favourite of the Honda 500 series. I just wish they'd stick this engine in a CB500R. Very thorough review.

Hello Mark! I started watching this video at 480p, then 720p, and also 1080 just to try it out... I could not handle the bloody video! It's full of framedrop, massive pixelization (specially in the motion footage), even watching it at top quality resolution (1080p). When rendering a video, if you do it with a low "bps", it does not matter if the end result is Full HD or 4K, the lack of quality frames will render a video with really bad image quality, that gives us headaches thrying to focus the image in our heads 🤢 while (i suspect) you keep a small sized file in your HDD. For instance, the "★ 2020 KAWASAKI VULCAN S REVIEW ★" has better frame rate and image quality than this video, and this one (★ 2020 HONDA CMX500 REBEL REVIEW ★) is more recent. That's odd. Here's a secret, similar to what happens in facebook, everytime you upload a video into your channel, the yt server will cut a bit the image quality in order to make it occupy the less HDD space possible when storing it. That's why, if you download your own video from youtube in the best resolution, you get a video with way lesser quality than the original you have at home. So, what's the solution? - Render your videos with much quality as possible, so the service server won't make your motion videos horrible to watch. At least the sound was not that much affected, but it also gets quality decreased once it gets in the server. Since i could only hear you properly, i put it at 144p. Thank's for that great review! I like the Vulcan as well, specially its looks, but i rather a bike something more pragmatic and more economic for commuting and travelling across the country. It made my mind about this bike. I'm gonna buy the Special Edition, like that one with a headlight cowl.😎 Keep your social distance by riding your bike! Stay safe, mate! Cheers from Barnet! 😉

Hi thanks for the brilliant explanation.....what happened for me here was this ....up to the rebel video all my reviews were on my trusty hero 2 ,inc the Vulcan one you mentioned ...I bought a new hero 7....and the rebel video was my first time I used it for filming a review ...I rendered it in the usual way using my power director...and at the end when you get the choice of what format I chose the same as I always do which was windows ...once the video was produced I always watch the first few minutes to make sure it's ok ....in watching the non riding moving section all looked ok to me so I went ahead and uploaded it to KZfaq...it wasn't until someone commented about the laggy frame rate etc then I watched the riding section and saw the issue...I was going to delete it but as it happens it's had thousands of views and lots of mainly good comments hence why I left it on ! Lol So .....from now on with a lot of research I realized I should have used the h264 format for my new GoPro 7 which is what I use now for all my recent videos and all is good now Anyway thanks for the info Regards mark

I think Honda have a better styling philosophy than Yamaha. Yes, Yamaha's cross plane engine is superior, but the rest is lacking IMO.
