@@XanhDT89 i had solved that problem as well. i bought a led lights and made it legal. so now i have 4 led lights which is perfect. the only thing i noticed since i have the bike, is that the stock seat is really really hard. i have to change it . i cant stand on it more than 1 hour. honestly

Hey buddy, a great review. 👍 About the brakes: If the bike is new, the brakes will need considerable wearing in. This can be unnerving. My Forza, for the first 1500km or so, I had to physically get down and check to see that the brake disks and pads were not actually made of wood. The braking was terrible with no bite or feel. I mentioned this to the shop at the 1000km service, asking if a spacer may have been left in during cartage, or if there was an adjustment that could be made. Thankfully they came good, and now it brakes brilliantly. My bike has a very similar set up, if not exactly the same to this bike with callipers and disk sizes.

I bought my Rebel at 13,000kms and it still felt like that. Swapped the pads out for an EBC HH sintered set. Subsequently realised that my bike has the feature where it flashes the hazards on a hard brake which it had never been able to achieve before 😂

I have a 2018 Rebel and have loved it. It's a great platform for customisation and it's a really involving bike to ride. I've put some Viking bags on it and bar end mirrors and changed the headlight surround. If you want a rev counter you can get a speedo app for your phone and use the 4pin service cable adaptor and a Carista Bluetooth sender to quickly and cheaply show the Revs on your phone. I'll be keeping it for a while.

Lovely bike, great review! Really want to see more A2 specific bike reviews, it is such a niche subject at the moment, but it is a very important subject as the 19-24 year old market is a blooming one at the moment, people getting in to biking are gonna be looking at this bracket! There's a resurgence of young people looking into riding, A2 bikes are the height of the market I think

I wish there were more options in this range for cruisers and standards. As someone who is just out of the A2 range, I don't want to get a 650+ beefy machine to ride (I'm just starting out). I want something that can serve multiple road purposes outside of an in-town commuter.

@@brianosterman456 Try the Honda CB300R. It might only be a one cylinder 300cc but a really good all round motorbike and narrow with short wheel base and good turning circle for filtering and negotiating stopped traffic.

Finally, a decent review from MCN. Glad you kept the old guys away from this bike as it wouldn’t be powerful enough for their compensatory needs 😉 The weak front brake may be due to a low centre of gravity, a cruiser trait (so therefore “authentic”).

Pretty accurate review, I got this bike and I’m pretty tall, longest I rode was 4 hours (I stopped at a couple places) and for me at least it was comfortable. I do also recommend a test ride if you are tall. (It’s my first bike and I love it so much)

Thanks Dan, an articulate and accurate review. Unfortunately, I had to sell my Rebel 500 after 10 months as it gave me acute 'tennis elbow'. The geometry of the bike meant that the grip and twist position of my hands led to the injury. it's a shame as the bike is excellent and handles better than it should. Stay safe.
@grumpysquid
@grumpysquid 4 жыл бұрын
Wow never saw that injury coming. Was it a pre existing injury or condition? And did you feel the pain from merely riding around and holding the bars?
@robshaw2319

@@grumpysquid Hi Never had it before the bike. It took a month of constant riding to get it. It hurt on the bike and off. It took exercises from the doctor and 6 months to get over it. More annoying than debilitating. It might just be me! Dont overthink it. Got an NC750S now....Happy riding.

@@bonzo6787 5'9...but it was the wrist/hand position on the bars, I think. Twisting the throttle and pulling the clutch became painful. However, the new lighter clutch would reduce that and you could always swap the bars.

The brakes should get better with time. Brand new brake plates (even on a car) are tricky in the first few hundred miles. Thanx for the review.

Great review nice bike. He is right though about that sound. You do expect a good growl from a V twin. A cheap manageable practical classic which may be A2 compliant is Honda's CX500. I think with that you get the best of both worlds the comfort of a cruiser but race like machine performance. However bare in mind that the CX is an 80's bike.
