Max, I think you’re not excited because you already have an iPad Pro which is somewhat better than the Air, but for those who can’t afford the Pro, I think it’s great news that we can have a similar experience like the Pro without breaking the bank.

Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.

If iPad air 4 started with 128 GB it'd been a better deal.

Let me break my opinion down: If you are 100% fine with 64 GB of storage, get the iPad Air because it is significantly cheaper than the pro. However, if you are not fine with 64 and need more, the Air comes with 256 GB of storage but then for that price, it is only $50 cheaper than the 128GB pro. If it was me, I would pay $50 more for 120 Hz, better mic, Lidar sensor, better camera, 8 cores and more RAM.

Finally, a proper Max-style comparison. Yes, that's what I want!

I went with iPad Air 4. I think for college note taking it is going to be more than enough. Also the setup I wanted for the Pro was more than $1000 (256gb, Apple Pencil) and I can't justify that price when its going to get outdated in like three months.

I was in a position looking for an iPad upgrade several months ago. I made the decision to scope around for resale iPad Pro 2018 models. Found a 2018 12.9” model for around $750. Never regretted that decision. If you’re in doubt, don’t rule out buying a resale 2018 iPad Pro if you can find it. It’s remarkable.

I have recently bought a 11 inch iPad Pro for myself and a iPad 8 for my daughter. The 50 bucks price difference is giving you so much for that amount. So, I didn’t even hesitate when buying the Pro instead of the Air.

I keep hearing reviews by non-artists suggest that the 120hz display makes a big difference for Apple Pencil work. IT DOES NOT. The actual latency has a lot more to do with the pencil itself and the software. The higher refresh is purely an aesthetic thing and possibly something which might have value in some games which can run at 120 fps and require ultra fast reflexes. I draw and write A LOT on my iPad and the 60hz vs 120hz doesn't affect the performance in the slightest. I've tried them side by side and there's just and I just can't see any way it effects the drawing/writing experience. Even when you saw Max scribbling super fast from one end of the screen to the other, it required slow motion to see any difference. We don't write or draw like this. All that you'll really notice is how SMOOTH the line updates (and even that is most noticeable in things like scrolling rather than writing). I understand why visually something like 120hz makes a device feel more premium but it really doesn't effect the functionality.

Watching this on the 2020 iPad Pro 11”- I honestly truly wanted the new Air and was actually wanting an iPad for school weeks before i learned of it’s release. Once I watched Apple’s event releasing the new Air, I wanted one IMMEDIATELY, but unfortunately they weren’t gonna be released until late October and I was already a month into school as it was :( the only reasons why I wanted the Pro model was because of the 2nd gen Apple Pencil and the USB-C port, so the Air was gonna be a great medium; however, once I learned that the 256gb Air model was basically just as much as the Pro base model, I settled on the Pro instead and got it within three days of ordering. Don’t regret ordering it at all :) sometimes I feel like it has way more than enough power for what I use it for but it’s an amazing device. Also, LOVE this channel, guys! Keep up the good work and take care!

I was really going to get the air but once you get used to the “Pro” trim you can’t go lower than it, so I just got my pro and I love it.

You really like "where we started"? I really love this song. You always use it to demonstrate the audio quality for any device.

So, here's my opinion: The iPad Pro has ProMotion, much better speakers, the ultrawide lens (yes, I do take photos with it, because sometimes I need to take photos/videos and submit it to my teacher, which makes an iPad perfect in this case), and the better microphones. These are worth the $200 for me. For the storage, I don't think it's a big deal since the USB-C can connect to external drives (yes, file management is possible in iPadOS), and I never noticed issues with 4GB of RAM.

There is another option to choose between this 2. Wait 5 months for the next iteration of iPad Pro with A14X and maybe mini led display. This can be a massive difference just for some months of waiting at home because the pandemic.

JUST GOT MY AIR IN YESTERDAY AND LOVE IT! Majority people only buy the pro just to say they got a pro and won’t even use the couple features it has over the air lol, heck for me the base model iPad is good enough for me which is the model I had before this one and it served me well, never had a issue….64GB is plenty for me I don’t plan on installing a ton of apps and pix so I’m good…mines is mostly for watching videos,movies,games etc etc

Reasons I chose the pro: -higher refresh rate makes note taking more enjoyable -the base storage option is really bad in the air. 64 gb is not enough if you plan on holding on to this device for many years -the price is still expensive with the air. If you buy the magic keyboard and the pencil its in no way a budget product. And without those accessories i feel the experience lacks. Either way apple is a luxury brand.

I just bought the iPad air 4 yesterday as a replacement for my iPad mini retina from 2013. From my point of view, it has everything I need. I mainly use it for browsing the web, gaming and watching Netflix. There is no need to have the better camera that the pro offers. Nor do I need the 4 speakers as I mostly use my air pods to listen to music 🙂 Overall I am very satisfied with my new iPad. Nice review by the way for those that are still struggling to find out which device to buy!

I just ordered the air (with the 256gb ). Wish I’d watched this first! This was the best comparison video I’ve seen. Still the air should be fine for me- it’s just the other videos seemed to say the air was virtually the same and your video showed clearly they are not the same. The pro is clearly better in a number of areas. The audio and mic are much better on the pro.

Agreed, at128 storage pricing, the better mics, speakers and 120 refresh make the pro a much better buy. Thanks for highlighting the mics and speakers, which almost every other reviewer didn’t spend much or any time on. For most users, those features will matter a lot more than chip performance.

Just because I was on a budget, and I honestly do not use a portable device that much, I decided on the iPad Pro air 4...so far I love it, I use it to go to my parents house to be able to surf the web and watch videos, so its really nice. Great comparison! I purchased the 256 gig Pro a week ago since Amazon was offering a $50 discount and, importantly, one day delivery. I prefer the speakers greatly on the Pro due to watching lots of video content and listening to music. Quad speakers are superior. The ultra-wide lens will be used by me since I do use the camera on my iPads for scenic photography and videos. The extra wide angle will be great for panorama shots and mountain scenery of the Rockies in Colorado, where I live. The flash is useful both indoors and as a flashlight late at night when lights are out. No reason to sacrifice all the little extras to save a few bucks a year for the five years I expect this iPad to last.

I’m watching this on my 6 year old perfect condition iPadair first gen, and the storage is only 16Gb, so I don’t even need to decided on storage, either will work 😂

Ipad air 4 is way better than I was expecting, of course you can compare it with the pro, it's more expensive and having 4 speakers. For most users this is more than enough for their intended use unless you need those extra features like the LIDAR.

Fantastic review. I think if you already own the Pro, then you will be dissatisfied with the Air. If you were creating professional content then the Pro would do a great job, but then again that's what my 16" MacBook Pro is for. Coming from any other iPad you will likely be content. I went with the Air 256GB because the extra space (twice the iPad Pro) will be future proof for me. I mostly wanted the capabilities of the new iPad OS and  pencil 2. I haven't thought about buying an iPad since my first iPad Air...

The Air makes more sense for me. 256GB is the minimum storage I’d want, I have AirPod Pros so I’m not worried about the speakers, and Touch ID works with a mask so that’s better for me for the foreseeable future. The 120Hz screen would be nice tho.

For me the iPad Pro is worth the extra for Pro-motion, quad speakers, better microphone, greater brightness, flash, more storage and Face ID. I guess people moving from a regular iPad will be satisfied, but once you have used a iPad Pro, even the older 2017 10.5”, you will not be satisfied with the iPad Air. That sound difference from speakers and microphones was huge

You are the only channel that acknowledges the problem with the 64gb. That is probably the game-breaker with the Air, and I'm sure Apple knows it to prevent fewer sales on their Pro model. I have128gb on my iPhone and already have 40gb used. On an Ipad, the storage is even more important. Bought my IPad Pro with student price and the free AirPods. Sold the AirPods to a cousin. Pretty happy with my IPad Pro at the same price as the Air 64gb (at least in my country). When I saw the launch of the iPad air I got sad until I saw it began with 64gb. Not worth it.

I'm struggling to choose. I want a device that will be good for: making notes for studies, storing and playing music, films and other shows, along with potential use for recording and editing videos - but basic ones. I currently have a 1st generation iPad Mini from 2012, and despite being good for the tasks that I was using it for up till now, I definitely need an updated device. AT this moment, Apple is offering a deal on the Ipad Pro where you get the Airpod Pro's for £90 on the purchase. The base storage size of 128gb definitely seems more appetising compared to the 64gb of the Ipad Air, with the 256gb of the Ipad Air being a little too much required storage, along with too much of a price increase to not justify just moving to the Ipad Pro. It's a shame that there isn't a 128gb model of the Ipad Air, because I would've been inclined to purchase that, however I was always going to purchase a pair of Airpod Pros anyway, so the deal that is currently available seems too good to pass up. I suppose it seems obvious - just purchase the Ipad Pro, but will I be making full use of it, will it last me years to come, and will it act as an efficient device for me to do all that I mentioned above.

I ordered a new green iPad Air to replace my 2018 iPad Pro 11". Wanted a nice green iPad to go with my new green iPhone 12 :P Quickly cancelled the iPad Air order after testing it out in a store and seeing the difference 60Hz makes. It felt really sluggish compared to what I was used to.

This is the exact review/comparison I wanted to see.... I am amazed how many people just did an unbox/first thought without doing this comparison. I have the ipad pro 11 and still within return policy and wanted to see what I would lose or gain if I exchanged it for the air. I am a huge pro motion advocate so I am keeping my pro. I am very impressed with the air however. Something about that silky smooth ui with the pro i just cant go back. It is just so responsive its amazing

Didn't expect the speakers and microphones to be so mediocre on the ipad air compared to the ipad pro. That alone plus the pro motion display makes the ipad pro a better option cause the 64gb on the base ipad air is just not enough.

One key point that is either understated or downright ignored in these comparison videos is the weight. Presumably, when people are considering which tablet to buy, portability is an important factor.
