I have the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9” and would not consider anything but the Pro. It is the most wonderful device. I use mine more than 10 hours most days for everything from work to video viewing to playing music. After 2-years use I still love it!

Thanks for this video. I was actually look at a 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch vs iPad Air 4 vs iPad Pro 11 inch m1. I found a really good deal on an open box 2020 iPad Pro 11 inch at Best Buy and decided to go with that. I had been using a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 inch. I use the iPad a lot for work, for travel, and for zoom meetings too. I really like your videos a lot. They are very helpful.

This is exactly what I needed! They were both the same price so I went with the Air 4 at the last minute. I couldn't justify spending $600 on something almost 3 years old. I was also worried about the battery after 2 to 3 years of owning it, the battery would be 5 to 6 years old. I feel like I would be chained to the power outlet. I'm also not a power user, just media and web surfing.

This was the best comparison I have seen so far. I feel much better about buying a 2018 Pro now!

I haven't had an iPad since it first came out. But the Air 4 is a gorgeous piece of technology. The A14 is the latest and greatest that will last for years to come. Gaming is smooth as butter. Carrying it around feels like a feather. Holding the flat edges feels like an expensive portal to the internet world.

I have the 2015 iPad Pro and the 2018 iPad Pro. My wife’s old iPad recently died and she decided to get the 2020 iPad Pro. She considered an iPad Air but wanted the additional memory available with the Pro, the 4 speakers with the Pro, the screen refresh rate with the Pro, the slightly greater screen brightness with the Pro, and the face recognition on the Pro.

I completely lucked out this August and got a brand new IPad Pro 11 2018 64GB from Best Buy Canada. It also came with a Speck Folio case and Toucan Glass screen protector. Aside from using a leftover BestBuy gift card.the price was $799CDN, plus tax, which is like $6 US😬 This review confirms, that on par, the 2018 is better than the Air 4 save, perhaps future iPad OS support, and some raw single processor tasks (A14 vs A12X)

My take on this is if you like the colors and want an extra year of support go for the Air, otherwise, pick up the 2018 iPad Pro, it's a much better value even though it's used but the Air is not that bad either. If you have a lower budget I would choose something like the iPad 8th generation or the iPad Air 3 from last year.

Would buying a refurbished iPad Pro as opposed to a used one make any difference when debating whether to buy the Pro or the Air 4? (The refurbished pro is cheaper than a brand new Air 4)

Pro - 120hz screen, flash (if u even care about that), slight graphical improvement, Face ID, better speakers Air - possibly longer support from Apple (iPadOS updates), different colors, worse display (although still great), Honestly I say the pro is a better choice as u can find them for similar prices

Great video! Noah, Really having a hard time deciding between an iPad Air (4) 64gb with the magic keyboard and pencil or the new Pro 11” and wait/save for the extras. Wait for it to ship and wait for the pencil and keyboard as I save for a few months to get those accessories. Or get the 64 air. My budget is very tight, but I’ll get the education discount. The difference between the 256 air and 128 pro is like $50. But the 64 air would give me room for those necessary accessories and no waiting. I sold my MacBook Air laptop to make this happen. I have a desktop iMac I rarely use. Main use for iPad will be writing papers, web browsing, email, bit of zoom, media consumption and streaming, reading, editing photos, note taking and light drawing. Playing some games. It will be my first iPad in many years and I’m really excited. What would you do? Is 64gb enough? I should also mention I have a ton of iCloud storage. 1 terabyte.

Just bought an Apple certified refurbished 2018 iPad Pro 12.9. It was less than a new iPad Air with same configuration. AppleCare still applies too

The flash light is actually more useful than the back facing camera for my usage.

Very tough choice indeed between the two, but if you managed to find a well used 2018 pro definitely go for that. Although bare in mind that over 1000 days of usage is bound to have some wear and tear in the parts and component, battery capacity, switches, buttons, face ID not working etc.

so now you can decide which will you get if you want new go to 2020 or if you want old one alternative to new go to 2018 and theres are a lot of different between on a budget but im sayin not as as old as new it you bought its brand new seald fresh from apple

I got the first iPad pro and for 5 years ir tan like a beast, I sold it because battery was not preforming as well and it was becoming an older device, but not because it went slow or obsolete. Apple makes quality products. A refurbished 2018 pro should last a while.

Noah, would you make the same recommendations for these two devices in Mar 2023? I'm looking to buy an iPad used and am considering the iPad 9, ipad air 4, and the Pro 1st gen. I see them in good condition going for about 4-450 usd. I'm living outside of the US so pricing is much higher here as second hand devices are harder to come by. The 9th is basically new (still has apple guarantee 8mths) and I think the air 4 is about a year old.
