i really liked this video over some others because it was more point blank. I own a X590 JD an this X580 is exactly the same. just wished there was some type of screen over the transaxle FAN. It collects more stuff than you can imagine.

Your video was very helpful. I just did my 200 hr maintenance on my X590, which includes a transmission service. I found that jacking up the rear end of the X590 and putting the rear tires on some thick wooden blocks made access to the drain bolts and the transmission filter much easier. The whole maintenance process only took about 2 hrs, of which most was spent waiting for either the engine oil or transmission fluid to fully drain. The most difficult part was refilling the transmission fluid from the 1 gallon JD jug. My plastic hose was too short (I paid attention to your suggestion but still got an "F" in class LOL). Had to get my wife to pour from the jug into a funnel connected to the hose while I held the other end of the hose at the opening to the refill.

I just did the 50 hour service on my x590 and it took 4-1/2 quarts. I guess there is some left in the system. I drilled a 1-1/2 hole in the body just behind the gas tank and installed a rubber gromet. Makes it way easer to fill with oil!

Thanks for the video! How do you like the snowblower? I'm looking into getting one of these but the 500 series hydraulics don't push down, just lift and float. So do you have issues with the snowblower auger 'climbing' as you're trying to push it into heavy snow?

Question: Did you find the single gallon of oil added was enough, or did you find you needed more after running the machine for a bit?

How much fluid did you use?

was this done at your work? or do u have a 580 and a 738?

Can you do this with the mower attached?
