2020 YZ250X // How I set up my bike for HARD ENDURO!

This is a fairly detailed breakdown of everything I have done to my 2020 Yamaha YZ250X. I ride a big range of conditions, everything from hitting big jumps to Hard Enduro and have set up my bike to work pretty well for all of it. Let me know if you have any questions or have other questions! I will do my best to answer those in the comments!
If you came here for jetting advice... I don't go over jetting in the video, I have it set with specs that the guys at Apex Technical Innovations gave me when installing their head... I'm bad at jetting and don't know enough to help you out. I'm sorry!

nice video mate, I ride a yz250x a few weeks ago. I like hard enduro and I also noticed that the original 14/50 transmission is very fast for trail riders, maybe it's better for mx, so I rode 13/50 and it rides calmer, with better lowering. greetings from Chile. 08-28-2022

@@carlatamanczyk3891 I watched a really good rider lose control and his arm slipped through the wrap around as he slipped off the handle gripe, then totally lost control and could not get his body or arm out of the wrap around, ended up crashing big time and broke a bunch of bones. 14:20 I bought a 2018 250X new just after the launch in SA in 2017, wanted to fit a fan, our Yamaha dealer quoted me about R8k excl labour (about $400-$500) for the stator, battery, aftermarket electric starter and aftermarket fan and also an additional option for the WR headlight. It would make my bike almost 10kg heavier and with our harescramble and cross country races containing a bit of mx and endurocross type of stuff I kept it standard to keep the weight down, when we had tight and slow terrain I made sure to mix my 2 stroke 1:20 and 96% concentrate coolant, but when exiting the heavy stuff I had to rev the motor up to burn the 2stroke off the plug as I lost power on the straights when exiting the heavy terrain, but with the correct jetting and few fine tunes to the motor my bike kept up with the 450’s and 500’s with 6 speed gearboxes.

Been riding YZ's since 02. Smart carb eliminates all the carb issues; sorry for you that haven't compared back to back but its better than an electron. Never run a Pro-circuit pipe off-road unless you want to kill all the torque from idle to top end but add 2 hp at peak RPM. Fatty or Gnarly are both great. I changed jetting kit to 175/45, im using motul coolant and works fine (we are winter right now so i'll see what happen in summer), changed mi chain guide for an acerbis plastic one, basic metal pipe cover, acerbis engine guards. Jason, all your videos including this one are great content!! i am getting the itch more and more for one of these bikes now, but i just have a question or two... if you could only choose 3 of the mods you went over in this video, what would they be? i'm only wondering because one of the biggest draws to this bike is the affordability, so buying new and keeping as close to stock as possible would be ideal in terms of saving $$... just wondering if you think an average joe trail rider could get by riding this bike more or less stock with minor mods, to keep the cost down and accepting the fact that i'm not that fast or skilled anyway lol

I’m not being a jerk so please don’t take offense , go to the mako 360 instead of the flexx bars . They will break on you , if you look under the bar you can see where they drill and pin the bar in . In a crash or tip over it will break right there where pin is . I’ve had it happen a few times and so have a few of my friends. The mako 360 won’t ever break can go from bike to bike and works better. Again not being a jerk just trying to help , I broke mine riding hard enduro and getting out of the mountains with one hand is a bummer for entire group .

Does your bike foul plugs when you are lugging it low
@JasonHamborg
@JasonHamborg 3 жыл бұрын
I actually have only ever fouled one plug (on my 2017 YZ250)... I hear of people who struggle with the issue, but I never have. One thing I always try to do is minimize idling for long periods of time, and if we ride a section that is super slow I will rev the bike out from time to time (in neutral) to try to avoid it getting plugged up.
