Love the comparison review, Sam, thank you, as I said, I went in & placed in a deposit for the RDX a/Spec blue exterior/red interior (FWD) Acura does not keep that colour combo on the lot. Should have it in about 13 days in my garage. Thank you once again for making it more comfortable with your inputs and fantastic cars/SUV's reviews, I just subscribed to your channel.

Great review Sam! Keep up the good work. The only thing you missed is that Q5 may be starting at 53K but you add similar options to RDX Aspec to it and it easily get ovwr 60K. I just did a cross shopping between the two and know it in details. You can get RDX for about 300$ biweekly tax-in versus similar Q5 will be at least 400$ biweekly. Q5 is 30% more expensive to start with, later on when warranty is up the maintenance and repair costs of Audi will be much much higher as well

@@omairsh8 Even though Acura has improved a lot, they still are nowhere near the Germans. They make FWD based cars that have barely better interiors than Hyundai. I might take the RDX over the Q5 but I would definetly get something like the Mercedes GLC over the RDX.

Sam great review! Two vehicles that are always closely shopped against each other. At the end of the day you cannot go wrong with either vehicle, it really comes down to personal preference. Perhaps if interior size and space is important the Acura is the winner, of fit and finish the German offering has an edge. You touched on initially the purchase price is higher with the Audi, how about overall operating costs? Premium fuel requirements and costs of services? Just curious. Thanks again Sam love your channel.

Thanks Chris, the fact the Audi is higher in price, maintenance will be definitely slightly higher. The fuel is recommended premium, but regular can be used.

I got the 2021 RDX Tech and I am truly in love. I used to have the Mazda CX-5. Haven't looked back yet...except for the premium gas $$ for the RDX. If you buy a vehicle like this, don't be concerned with gas costs. Everything about this car will be more expensive in the long run, but I don't care. Love the vehicle so far.

@ IDONTKNOW I owned the RX350 FSPORT and got rid of it. I now own an RDX ASpec. Both vehicles are attractive inside and out. However the RDX outperformed the Lexus in handling and speed. The seats are also more comfortable and sound system amazing. Reason I got rid of the Lexus was that the axle broke when I cornered at a high speed. Both brands are known for their reliability but maybe I got a lemon.

He is comparing RDX 2021 vs Q5 2020. I just got Q5 2021 and I love it. It’s an upgrade over 2020 especially with the touch screen and wireless car play. Plus they added all kinda of safety features in Premium Plus.It drives smooth and it looks amazing. I understand that there is a perception that Acura is more reliable but German cars are also reliable, just their parts a bit more expensive. if you get extended warranty on the Q5 you’re good for 8 years. But if you like the Acura go for it by all means. I’m thinking of getting an Acura as my second car. Cheers

The 2021 Audi Q5e 55 is awesome with that new hybrid technology. Honda is also awesome but my Audi SQ5 and Macan GTS as well as my Mercedes ML 400 has been reliable as well as fun to drive.

@@pjp7259 Agreed. The Audi is far more reliable than the RDX. So many issues with the Acuras these days. I want to go back to the days of the Integra GSR - simple, fun, reliable. Now they just break more than the Germans AND don’t drive as nice. Zero reason to buy one other than they do look better.

@@briantii acura still ranks much higher than audi on the reliability scale. Sure the first year or two of the 3rd gen rdx had issues, but I think they're fixed now. Even with those, audi is still far behind.

Love my new aspec Acura! traded in the Audi q5 which was also a great car to drive but simply just fell apart. Audi sunroof sunshade messed up and rolled up all wrong on itself. Folding side mirrors broke about a year in. Front Fold down sun shade hook broke twice. Car consumed oil bad and had to watch the oil more than the gas. Transmission is unserviceable as it’s “lifetime fluid “ as well as the Quattro clutch pack. Which means lasts as long as the warranty…Their designed obsolescence is obvious. Sucks we loved the Audi but didn’t hold up over time. Endless money pit

My personal vehicle is a 2021 RDX, my mom owns a 2020 Audi q5, Build quality is not even close siding with the q5, I get so much rattling in the cabin in cold temp in my RDX, drive quality is to each their own, I prefer my Rdx, but the q5 is just as good, reliability wise, Acura obviously , space wise Acura Rdx. MPg Audi q5

The Acura 10 Speed Automatic is strictly a Honda built transmission. In fact Honda / Acura does not have any GM integration when it comes to transmission. The 9 speed electronic transmission in the TLX and MDX is a ZF transmission (German made) and used in many Chrysler and BMW vehicles.

I'll take the AWD steering capability of the RDX A Spec and the RELIABILITY over the Q5 S Line. And I like the RDX steering feel. The ACURA is a better "unified" design than the AUDI but my new MAZDA CX-5 design blows both of them away.

Eric B Audi Q5 is graded much higher reliability wise compared to the RDX. Do your homework. Take a look at latest consumer reports. We aren’t in the early 2000s anymore. Audi dominates reliability. You must have been sleeping under a rock the past 10 Years.

I don’t know what the Audi fuel economy is like, but my 2022 RDX with the Technology package is very poor. Struggles to get 23 mpg on the highway driving easy with cruise at 70. My 2019 BMW X4 with a similar 2 liter turbo easily got 32-33 on the same drive. I like the RDX, but come on Honda/Acura, really, 10 mpg worse than a comparable BMW!

Yea but I think the base doesn't have BSM so you need to go a grade up but I wouldn't get the base if I were you since the tech gives you the els sound system which is pretty goated for the class it's in

From hearing your driving, i kind of sense that the Audi transmission is a lot smoother than the Acura one. One thing about the Acura is their transmission. I own two Acura in the past that have transmission problem and currently I have 2018 TLX that have iffy transmission.

Have u tried draining it and putting better trans oil in there than that gabage they give at the dealership lol u have the 8/9 speed which is old tech, the new ones have a 10 speed, but yea if you're feeling the shifts or it's giving u trouble every now and then, drain it and put amsoil trans oil, along with a replacement filter than come back and say how it feels, if u think getting it done by the dealer is going to make it feel better, it will for only a short time, that's how their trash oil works lmao

It seems to me that Audi just has that ability to be more dynamic in driving abilities than it should be. The Acura RDX looks good is easier to maintain, but it’s missing that “IT” factor. I’ve owned four Audi’s in my lifetime and what they do is give a definite idea of jack of all trade s feeling. You will definitely dig in your pocket more often for the Audi. But when I get up in the morning or the middle of the night, I just can’t stop grinning.

I'd take a Tesla But between Acura & Audi. Only stupid people buy an Audi. RDX all day, it's a Honda so it means you can work on it yourself, reliable and A-Spec looks so damn sexy.

Audis are a great car if you are leasing, otherwise they fall apart and are money pits after 40k, thats why the resale price on a used audi is incredibly low for a luxury automobile. They dont last. They become rolling piles of garbage.
