@@NoWeyJose I'm quite sure it does, that's the only way they can sell them. The bottom line is, if it ever goes headlong into an F-250 or another immobile object, bad things will happen.. Four thumbs down? WHY? The man making this video has nothing but happiness in his narration and spreads only joy as nobody wants to listen to whining. Somehow there is four JEALOUS people who HATE themselves and their lives and get a sick jolly out of giving their thumbs down. Rusty they obviously are stuck on the hamster wheel and they just suck. Many people would do just fine with what you bought, it has heat, air conditioning and a radio while keeping you out of the elements. Today many buy things to impress people they don’t know and are up to their eyeballs in debt doing it. My brother in law has an $1100 monthly payment on a leased BMW, it’s insane.

My friend told me about your Spark. I'm on my third and love them. Timing chain not a belt to break, manual windows. Delightful car. My 2013 I made 45mpg at 70 on the interstate with ac on and fully loaded. I get right at 40 city, a little less when it's cold and I let it warm up a little. You should easily make 40mpg, I coast a lot in town. A light goes yellow and no traffic I just coast and drive easy. I fill up at half a tank and todays price that runs under $10. You'll love your Spark too.

@dominiquedevereux7205 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffw1246 I have the automatic. I've only had mine for about 10 days. It's used with 148,000 when I bought it, but 99% of those miles are highway 🛣 miles given it's only 6yrs old (a 2017 LS model). But even with that being the case, I'm 2 white squares above empty & I've only traveled 80 maybe a hundred miles at most and I just filled up Wed. & it's just Mon. of the following week and 90% of those miles are highway miles. I don't know if the previous owner ever had the transmission fluid changed/cleaned. Do you know if that can effect the mileage? Aside from changing the transmission fluid & regular oil 🛢 changes, is there anything else you suggest I do to upkeep a car 🚗 with that kind of mileage? Especially when I've got a tight budget & can't afford to do everything the owner's manual recommends?
@jeffw1246 Жыл бұрын
@@dominiquedevereux7205 if it isn't burning oil and no obvious reason I'd check the gas tank itself, fuel line, gas filter. All the way to the motor. You might have a leak. I drove my inlaws wagon once going to a movie and started getting a strong smell of gas. They called a tow and picked us up. Good thing, rubber hose to carb sprung a leak over motor. Could have started a fire for a 50cent piece of rubber.
@dominiquedevereux7205 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffw1246 I just went today to Strickland Brothers oil change drive through shop & techs there were really nice, took time to answer all my questions. My main purpose in going was 4 them to check my transmission fluid to tell me if it needed to be changed out. I just got my Spark 13 days ago; it's used and came with 148,000 miles. It's a 2017, so it's safe to assume 90% or more of those miles are highway 🛣 miles, which is better than city miles on terms of wear & tear. Plus the guy who owned it b4 me had it maintained like clockwork ⏰️ every 3 to 4 months with oil changes. The inside was dang near pristine & the outside was as well. Today was the 1st time I saw under the hood when the techs lifted it up to inspect it & there wasn't a spot of dust 🧹💨 anywhere 🤯!! The battery didn't have a pinch 🚫🤏🏾 of corrosion! I don't know if he just kept the battery clean or had a new 1 put in b4 he sold it, but it looked brand new!! Unfortunately, the techs couldn't find the dipstick to my transmission reservoir & were unable to check it. They said more than likely, I have a "closed" transmission system & that I'd have to take it to a real mechanic with more tools 🔧 at their disposal to check ✅️ the fluid. The main reason I want to check the transmission fluid so bad is cuz I read online that every 100,000 miles, the transmission system should be flushed & replaced with new transmission fluid. And this is my 1st car with a CVT transmission & I've heard many owners of vehicles with CVTs across many makes say they have issues with their CVT going bad at 100,000 if NOT earlier for many. The car only had 1 owner b4 me & as I said, he kept regular maintenance on it. BUT ☝🏾, aside from the oil changes, it doesn't specify what the other "maintenance" was & I don't know if that included having the transmission fluid changed. A employee at Auto Zone I spoke to a few days ago AND the manager at the oil 🛢 change place I took it to today told me that if the owner b4 me didn't change the transmission fluid around 80,000 to 100,000 miles already, then at this point it's best for me not to have anyone mess with it cuz it could cause more problems than it would help --- ESPECIALLY since I probably have a closed transmission system. He was trying to explain the logic to me saying that if there are small pieces of the transmission gears ⚙️ in the fluid, they're are somehow holding the transmission together & to flush them out would make it completely fall apart or something to that effect. IDK. It didn't really make sense to me cuz I'm like "If the fluid needs to be changed, how can it help to keep old, dirty fluid in the system 🤷🏾♂️?" It sounded like one of those issues where counter-logic is actually supposed to be the solution to the problem, but me not being mechanical minded @ ALL, it just wasn't sinking in for me. What are your thoughts??

All pilots learn this when their getting their private pilots license. The drag (resistance) caused by the car going through the air is not doubled if you double your speed, it quadruples. Your getting that kind of mileage because of the slow speed your driving. Now, be a real American and drive the crap out of it as fast as it can go, and watch your mileage drop to the floor. LOL I’ve owned a Chevy Metro for 11 years and I’m a MPG geek. I’ve played around with all kinds of different types of driving to see what it does to my gas mileage. Huge difference just between 55 verses 65. It’s all about the drag.

Almost equal to a Prius , with no battery to worry about / replace................
@EfficientRVer3 жыл бұрын
The warranty on the battery in a new Prius is 10 years and 150K miles. Not much to worry about, in the world's most reliable car. It takes an hour to replace the battey in a regular Prius. For instance, swapping a brand new Toyota battery into a 2004-2009 Prius costs $1600 for the battery (after shopping around, plus returning the old core) plus $200-$300ish labor if you go to a specialist rather than the dealer. Then you're good to go for typically at least another 8 years and 150-300K miles. Think of it as equivalent to swapping in a rebuilt transmission, just far easier. A Prius doesn't really have a transmission in the normal sense, just one set of fixed, bulletproof planetary gearing. It acts like a CVT by varying the speeds of the gas engine and electric motors relative to each other, but no gears are ever disengaged or changed.
@captainvanaroo17293 жыл бұрын
Rusty 45 mpg so what what’s gonna happen to you is you will break down with it in the middle of Texas in a small town and uncle Bobs local Texaco won’t be able to fix it you will have to tow it to a Gm dealer in town and it’s gonna only be a couple grand or more to fix each time they look at it so Your better off driving something from 1950 by the time they take you to the cleaners on repairs.

They're two different animals, each with their place. Rusty was right to live in a Prius for its space, mpg, and superior HVAC and durability. He's also right to have the Spark as his toad, for its lightness to tow and its low cost. Though my Prius Prime weighs exactly 50% more, is 40 inches longer and 6 inches wider, it still gets 50% higher mpg than the Spark under most conditions, including the ones in this video. And about double the mpg in the city. The cost difference in fuel is pretty insignificant unless you look at the lifetime totals.
