Bahamondes spinning back kick was unreal. The match was about to finish, and he was covered in blood. Everything about that KO was perfect, now if you watch that whole match again you will understand why it's not even close.

Agreed. I think usman should win the award tho. The story around the fight, how the first fight went down, who he knocked out, and then the cleanness and power of the shot. My vote goes for usman but ya the Ignacio kick was some video game movie type shit.

Bahamondes kick was one of the most technically beautiful KO's of all time for sure. There is just something so brutal and visceral about the Usman KO tho. It is just fucking savage. Definitly a good year for UFC highlights, one small upside to an otherwise dogshit year lol!

He reaches in and grabs his wrist so he can’t use it to protect himself. Then wails on him with all his strength, as his head snaps around while the sweat goes flying. It’s pure savagery and is more visceral. That sort of thing always connects with out primal selves.

What i was wondering about that clip is why the referee let him throw a few extra punches :D He ran there to stop the fight but then doesnt even try to stop it and lets him throw a few punches before actually stopping him.

Usman's knockout had the most impact on the fight game this year, it really changed how we look at him as a fighter. Bahamonde's knockout was the smoothest and most traditional one you would see in martial arts movies. But Jiri's knockout still stood out. It was just primal. It's the kind of knockout that makes you want to go to the gym right away. It was vicious and is a fighter's dream to have on their record.

Jiris was uncomparable to usmans(it should without doubt win prize), it didn't have the biggest impact on he fight game either how'd you work that out. Oliveiras was better as it also changed how we look at him more than what usmans did -was better technique and without it who knows who would be champ, masvidal was washed up when he fought usman second time anyway.

That Jiří fight was insane, absolute non stop war between him and Reyes and actually you could hear all the punches, kicks, even the breathing of both, as it was in Apex without crowd, which made it so natural, what a mad pace they put in. I woke up at 4 in the morning to watch it, still drunk from previous evening, but it was my duty to get up so early and watch my countryman fight. When Jiří won, I instantly forgot I was drunk and I celebrated whole day. Vítězství!!

Agree, Bahamondes takes the cake IMHO, and Usman a close second. I have to say though that, if there was a reward for elegance, I'd choose Namayunas' KO, so smooth and precise, and what a timing... that girl makes it look as if it were easy.

Imo you have to factor in a fighter gets ko'd that has spent an entire career never getting ko'd that matters most. You can see endless no reels of fighters who had tiny runs then their career fizzled out so usman is ko of the year by far. He swiped the block away and put to sleep a guy who has been in the sport forever. The trash talk leading up to that also makes it greatest of the year.

I don't think Usman could've conjured up more power even if he wanted to. That punch was as clean, precise, and powerful as humanly possible by him. His was the type of punch every fighter dreams of landing.

Thug Rose all day, the level it was at, the way she sets it up, how smooth it is, how much of an underdog she was considered, only close one was the Usman punch, you gotta add the context of the fight into it, not just what they did physically.

The spinning wheel kick was just nasty. Perfect placement on where it landed and looked so fluid while delivering it. Opponent must have never expected it to reach that high, clearly was in stance to protect the body. Dude was out the minute it landed, just glad he didn't fall down badly and end up really hurt.

While Masvidal is definitely beatable, he seemed as though he was essentially invincible to being KOd. And everyone expected Usman to win by wrestle or clinch stalling. That makes the Usman KO the most surprising.

Jiri was in the flow, unique one of a kind, unpredictable, special type of movement without pre-thought, and a most powerful knockout against dangerous competition up at L- heavyweight in reyes. close second would be the more straightforward ko of Masvidal, funny how he had a popular video clip by knocking out Ben Askren but then ends up getting a super highly viewed clip of himself getting slept like that too.

Jiri’s elbow was murder on live TV, I don’t think anything else really compares tbh. I was genuinely wondering when Reyes was going to wake up during the broadcast, he was out for a long ass time and looked like a zombie when they finally got him on a stool.

Masvidal laughing at Usman's power before the fight definitely made the knockout sweeter, it was a championship fight and doing that to a guy that had never been slept was completely unexpected. I say that's the best one of the year.

Ignacios KO was awesome. For me personally I watched all the interviews of Masvidal saying he would sleep usman and that usman had been cursed with pillow hands. So seeing him get Ko'd with a massive right and sweat flying is the best KO for me.
