OUR NEW EXTENDED RISER DESIGN ALLOWED US TO CREATE THE MOST MANEUVERABLE FLAGSHIP PLATFORM WE’VE EVER CREATED WITHOUT SACRIFICING ACCURACY.
Coming in at 27" axle-to-axle for ultimate agility in tight spaces, the V3 27 is our most compact bow to date. I’m sure it will be a great bow for some people. Especially if you get it in shorter draws and less than 70lb. We have been told it shoots and feels totally different on 60 and 65lb. It was just not our favorite draw cycle of the bows we have shot.

This doesn’t sound like a review from an “Industry Professional” This sounds like a review from a well paid Hoyt dealer who is simply bashing a bow they clearly don’t know much about. Allot of this information is way outside any line of correct. This is a clear bias bashing of a bow. I find this close to comical and clearly ignorant.

I highly disagree with multiple points made here. You refer to the mod system as the croscentric system and it is the switch weight system. Also changing mods will not drastically change performance and the draw cycle feel. It’s all dependent on your comfortable draw length. Mathews is probably one of the most honest when it comes to specs unlike the new hoyts coming out with a carbon that weighs 5lbs out of the box. It’s sad people watch these for an honest review not your biased opinion. Bad review in my opinion.

Also this the longest riser per axle to axle that Mathews as made. That riser is just as long as the vertix. And that is the best string angle I’ve felt on that short of an ata bow and I have a 29.5” DL. Maybe not a long distance now but for a typical whitetail setup or your average shooter is a phenomenal bow

@@matthewjones7097 that does not suck ass, once again a personal opinion. And no shit it’s going to feel worse at 70# over shooting 60# every bow is that way. I work in a bow shop and shoot every new bow when they release. And once again the switch weight mod system is one of the most user friendly in the industry

@@lanebachelder2035 Mathews has one of the worse string angles out there when comparing to other brands. Elite and Hoyt and bowtech specifically will measure wider on the same ATA bow. The switch weight cam system uses limb tip flex to gain poundage. There’s a huge misconception that “big cams” equal a good string angle and it’s completely false. That all depends on cam shape and how much the limb tip flexes at full draw and Mathews flexes far more than the other 3 I’ve just mentioned. Jump on archerytalk and search this topic I have about 15 bows string angles all measured and Mathews falls very short in this category.

He gave his honest opinion of the bow. You have an honest opinion of the bow. Everyone sees things differently. I see his review almost identical to the feelings I've had about mathews. Hate their draw cycle. Smoother options out their with nearly as good of after shot feeling. So just because you're a Mathews fanboy doesn't mean we all feel the same way. That's why there are multiple bow companies and many doing just fine.

I have a V3 27 and I honestly really enjoy it. I have a 28.5” draw and in my opinion the draw cycle is very smooth and the string angle is very easy to get used to. The only problem I do have with it that was touched on in this video is how jumpy it is off the back wall. It’s something I’m willing to get used to for the benefits this bow provides but he was not lying when he said it wants to pull through on you.

To me the draw cycle felt better than the VXR 31.5 My V3 is @28” and 75lbs. Feels easier than a Hoyt pulling 70. I shoot back tension and haven’t had an issue with it wanting to go on me if I relax a little bit in the shot. In fact when letting down I feel like I almost have to push on it to get out of the valley with the 85 percent let off. With that being said it is a very short bow and has a steep string angle. Anything above a 28” draw id go with the V3 31. Interesting review.

Love your video reviews. Would you consider adding heavier arrow weights to your testing? 400g is cool for sure, but other weights would be so much more helpful looking at the efficiency of the cams. When I chrono my Bear bows, the heavier the arrows, the more efficient the cams become, and that translates that more RELATIVE speed when using heavier hunting arrows. Case in point, my Status Eko at 29.5” and 71.4# throws a 458g arrow consistently at 300fps. In the bow calculator, that works to 345.3 IBO ( Bear is rating this bow at 344fps ). When I sling my 502g and 570g arrows from the same setup, the speeds are 287fps (now reading 347 IBO) and 271fps (reading 353.7 IBO) respectively. We know that the IBO doesn’t really increase...its the efficiency of the bow/cams that’s mimicking a faster bow because of how efficient the bow is (or isn’t). This would be awesome for those deciding on bows based on their hunting setup needs. I’m probably never gonna shoot 400g at my draw length and pull harvesting an animal. Too light. Too noisy. Too much wear on the bow (I shoot A LOT). But a 450+ arrow. Yep. 500+ arrow? Like almost daily. Just a suggestion brother, take it or leave it, but consider it as a way to be even more relevant to a wider group of archers. Thanks for all your reviews brother!

So let’s say I have any of the bows you sell at your shop and I want to try a different release and now I have to change my draw length and maybe try and go up from a 60 to a 70lb bow? How much are you going to charge to swap Limbs and cams? I can tell you what it’s going to cost for a Mathews, about $65 and take two seconds. Maybe before you bash something try and learn how exactly it works. I’m disappointed you actually sell bows to people.

I owned a VXR 28 and sold it this year to get a longer ATA bow. I am not a fan boy of any brand, I shoot them all before I decide to buy one. If I could afford it I would buy them all. Lol This year was no different. I shot hoyt, bowtech, prime, and Mathews. My final decision came down to the V3 31 and Nexus 4. The draw cycle on the V3 31 is a tad more aggressive than the Nexus but I think it’s smoother than my VXR was. I’m not sure if that has to do with ATA length or not. Maybe at a shorter draw length the 27 would be smoother draw? I ended up buying the V3 31 because there is no other bow that is as quiet and as dead in the hand as Mathews bows. I was very pleased with the Nexus 4 and will probably end up buying it in the future as well. Great reviews, I think although the draw cycle may be aggressive it is still one of the top bows for 2021. I did watch your V3 31 review and I believe you said something about the draw being better on it than the 27 but don’t remember exactly

I have the v3x 29 so not really the same bow but I strongly agree on that point as a 5'7 guy. A shorter ATA for a shorter guy, is basically like a standard 30-31" for the average 5'11-6" dude. As for DL, are u at 26" with other bows? Personally I'm shooting 26,5 with 85% LO, but according to the formula have 27" draw length. The Mathews Switchweight mods add 3/8" with 85% LO, and about 1/4" with 80% just FYI. So if you ever plan on switching bows in the future, take that into account.

+J Wild it will certainly read less if you are 10 yards from the decibel meter. It will also read less if we put heavier arrows in the bow, deck it out with stabilizer and other accessories. When you’re about to spend nearly $2,000 buying and then equipping a new flagship bow, the last thing you want to have is a bad case of buyer’s remorse. The guy takes a stand and backs it up with a critical analysis. Refreshing approach in today’s politically correct “God forbid we hurt anyone’s feelings” environment. I shot this bow before watching the review. I’m 6’0 in height and found the string angle to steep and the draw harsh as well for my liking. His review confirmed my thoughts. Mathews, however, is top of the line and it’s a quality bow. I simply preferred the 31.5 myself, even for use in a tree stand.

I watched too many reviews of yours so I had to subscribe 🤙🏽 Looks like a scaled down bow for short people so they aren’t buying a big bow using a short draw length. 308 is fast enough without having a long ATA and long draw length. Some people are short with a short DL so if I can talk my Big Little Brother(he’s older but way shorter, I called him that in school and I got many Charlie horses for saying that 😆) to check it out maybe he will like it 🤷🏼‍♂️ Thanx 4 the review.

Yeah not a pain in the ass like have two separate cams for different draw lengths. Because you wouldn’t have to go to a shop to have your cams swapped out. Guy is an idiot. How about how cool it is if you buy a used bow set at 75 pounds and you want to shoot 60. He has a 30 inch draw and you have a 27 inch draw. Instead of having to buy new limbs and swapping out cams. You simply swap mods. Seems pretty simple and easy. At least if you weren’t a Hoyt fan boy.

So thankful someone is not sugarcoating the Mathews draw cycle. After shot is incredible but the draw cycle is garbage. Seems like Elite and Hoyt seem to have the lost forgiving draw cycles. Bowtechs,PSE and Primes have really cleaned up as well. Depending on the model, some of these bows are deceiving on the poundage your pulling. But not the Mathews. It’s harsh, stacks up extremely quick and has a hoppy valley/not the most solid back wall.

I couldn’t agree more with what Lane Bachelder said. I am also tired of biased reviews. I personally have shot all the new bows and yes I agree feel is a personal preference and you should shoot what you want. I can speak honestly and not biased when I say I seen the actual weights of v3 31 fully loaded in comparison with the RX 5 with same components. RX 5 was heavier by.3.. the v3 was also on average 3-5 feet per second faster. I advise anyone in the market for a new bow do your own research compile your own actual facts and make your decision. Stop watching biased reviews. Buy what you like and not what people say!

I usually like your reviews but I think you went into this one tad angry at the bow lol. To say the draw of that bow is terrible was a over reach I feel. I know it was your opinion which I respect. As for the mods being miserable with the weight system I frankly don't agree. It might take you/me/ a shop a few more minutes swapping out. Or a customer might have to buy 2 sets to get a exact feel. I get that can be annoying but it's more efficent on their numbers so in my eyes it's worth it when I have a shorter draw. If rather get all I can out of my bow. Changing the weight on the mods is the greatest thing bc you have one bow for everything if you want. Late season you can change a mod and drop weight if you. You can give this bow to your a kid/teen and swap a mod for everything. No worrying about limb weights. Resale is the best bc it fits anyone so you don't have to think about what poundage it is. Back wall the bow wants to go? Is a normal valley. Not a elite or design like that. I just hope this doesn't chase people away from even trying it bc dang! I know it's not your cup of tea. But your honest review.

I agree with you 100%! This is actually the first review out of countless reviews that had negative things to say that I’ve seen. To each his own haha. Like you I hope one persons negative opinion doesn’t keep someone from shooting the bow for themselves to see if the bow suits them. Seemed like a bash fest on the cams too. When he says it’s not an easy fix to change the draw weight???? Two screws if you have the other mods or take a turn or two out of the limbs!! Fixed! You Don’t have to GO TO A SHOP! I changed my mods out in the field in 5 min. As far as the draw length... well that should be measured and finalized at the shop if they care enough about the customer to set their bow up correctly. I personally love the cam system and bought different mods FOR MY DRAW LENGTH. It’s nice to change from higher poundage for hunting to lower poundage for 3D. One of the reasons I bought the vxr and V3 31. Mike says the thing about the 31 in his review on that. Again, He is entitled to his opinion.

I have 4 mods at home from in 28.5" and 29" 60 to 75 lbs and it takes about 45 seconds with no bow press required. Not sure where this information is coming from.
