Axle to Axle 27", IBO 342, Brace Height 6", physical weight 4.29#. We discuss this bow, we test the draw cycle and discuss how it compares, we shoot through a chronograph. We test the grouping of the Mathews V2 27 at 18meters to see how accurate this short hunting bow is.

One thing I really appreciate about your videos is how candid and transparent you are. I don’t like other peoples videos because it just seems like they’re being paid to say things rather than be honest with their experience. Thank you for that.

Another spot on review that’s why I watch all your reviews 😁 I’ve got the Mathews vxr and the only thing I can really complain about is the draw cycle I had a elite tempo before the Mathews and the draw cycle was worlds better but the after shot Mathews can’t be beat

I can't remember, when You shoot so many arrows with bow You reviewing Steven as this time, It looked like, this one from Mathews gave You very much fun ;) This grip looks a lot similiar to my factory grip on Halon X-Comp, and it is really difficult to use to it, for me because it's roundness. Now waiting for Shrewd M.A.G., maybe it'll change something. Thanx for your vids :)

The module system Mathews uses is the only system that allows you to shoot your bow from 60-75 pounds. With 75 80 85 % let off. All while keeping your limbs bottomed out which is what keeps your bow performing at peak efficiency. I really hope they never go to rotating mod system.

I really enjoy your reviews Steven. I own two of the 27’s, a VXR 28, V3X 29 and still own my Traverse. Switchweight mods adjust draw length AND draw weight plus they still use the same top hats. It sure seems like you are starting to adjust to the draw cycle quickly. As you already know, once your muscle memory takes over on a particular draw cycle it just gets to be a non-issue. Too many people DON’T buy a bow just based on a couple of shots at a pro shop and that’s too bad cuz they are missing out by just not giving it enough arrows. If you think the 27 is dead in the hand, shoot the VXR 28!!!

This is such an ultra-short bow, but for hunting, perhaps suits many ! I'm shooting a Mathews TRX36 at present for target archery & it's such a great bow in so many respects. Didn't concern me re module swaps to alter draw length, as mine is spot on, but as you say Steven, rotating mods would sure make life easier for you retailers.

So I had the 27. First bow. Decked out. Sold it. Never derailed. But I could tell the peep was messing my anchor up. Had I been shooting for years I know it would been fine but maybe on down the road. Now the dreaded "bounce" I feel like that bounce is coming from trying to find that high anchor to find the peep. I'm sure practicing would fix it buy I did notice it. Loved the bow itself though. I have a x29 I got to pick up today. I'm a 28 inch Draw. So the 29 should put my peep a bit better. I strictly saddle and stand hunt and I'm 5'10 130lbs. Small dude. I can feel everything

Similar to my Vertix you reviewed! I didn’t love the draw at first but now I love it. I am going to say the PSE NXT 33 is much smoother of a draw. Love my Vertix and PSE. I have the issue with my Vertix 30” ata they had to bring my peep to the speed knock and didn’t tie in the top, but bottom and over the peep. My dads VXR 31.5 same draw length is 10x better

I had the exact same bow. It’s true it can be easily derailed if you don’t grip it the correct way. Luckily I’ve been shooting compounds for a number of years and know how to grip it correctly. Never had a problem with mine and shot lovely It’s definitely a bow however not to buy if you’re new to the sport

I love my v3 27. I have a 26” draw length and no problem with my peep. I only started shooting in 2019, so I’m not sure about the assumption that it’s not a good bow for a beginner. 😉. I shot an avail for a year and a half, but my daughter is now shooting that… I wanted a higher draw weight and may have accidentally shot the v3 when I went in to a shop to talk about the cost of swapping the limbs on my avail last February and ended up addicted to it. 🤣

With the issues you described with selling this bow I can see where you are coming from. Although I'm not much of a compound archer, those Mathews V3's and VXR's are a nice bit of kit. I realize that you own shop and trying to make a profit. However, if you purchased it for a good price perhaps you could just add it to your collection. I think I would just take that one home especially since its never been used.

I've never understood why matthews didn't have a rotating module like most other manufacturers BUT offer various modules with different poundages. That makes more sense. Draw length changes a lot, but most hunting bows are #70, so sell them at #70 and offer other poundage modules for people who need #60 or #80 etc (rather than selling different poundage limbs).

I have a V-3 at just under 80 lbs AND LOVE IT!!! my other two bows are bowtech's SR 6 and a BTX both on COMP mode the V 3 is very nice to shoot I find it strange that your buddy derailed the bow ??? He must be torqueing the S*%$T out of the grip ! I have never had that problem yes you can over grip it but not to derail it I do forget to put a stabilizer on it often it that dead in the hand I'm shooting a 378 gr Gold tip hunter Pro and I haven't chronoed it but i'm sure it's quick and PACKS A HELL OF A PUNCH I have noticed at 80 lbs it DOES NOT LIKE ANY DAMAGE AT ALL in nocks any or even think that there's damage change it or it will blow the nock up The only draw back is that the Zebra Strings are not good they will stretch quite a bit The bow is one of the best I have shot

@@timparrish1847 Unless your hunting then the speed in most competitions limits you to 300fps so 80lbs is useless to most. and IMO is your hunting past 40 yards then you dont give a shit about ethical hunting . And if you need low flat trajectory to stay on target at 80 yards then your not much of an Archer as your taking the skill out of it, I shoot 80 yards just fine at 50lbs and Im using a 5 pin sight , And strength has nothing to do with it, your risking shoulder injury , I bet you dont let down often and it hurts when you do. I asked why you NEED 80lbs ,I can shoot arrows at 120 yards 50lbs ,300 grain arrows, 290 fps , still hit the target .

@@travistwwreck1535 Speed has nothing to due for comp's you are lilited to 60 lbs MAX (and it's by there scale) I'm not a hunter at this lbs age other's will try taking shots THAT THEY SHOULDN'T And I agree it's a little harder on targets just because of the penetration But take my word on the DISTANCE if you really enjoy shooting 80+ yds is a BLAST This summer I hope to try 200 yds , will let you know how that goes I under stand you may not like heavy lbs and that's cool I have several people I shoot with and none of them have more than 65 lbs (my other bow's are 71 , 59 lbs) so i do have a NORMAL bow draw weight Just call me your LONGDISTANCE friend ???

@@timparrish1847 ABA Australia is speed limited to 300fps not draw weight ,and I enjoy beating Guys like you at 80+ yards with 50lbs and x shots , simple the draw wieght has nothing to do with skill of aiming . what 80lbs does for you is limits your inadequacies, buy increasing speed and limiting your need to raise your bow higher than you can handle. 80lbs should be band in all comps. Comps are about the Archers skills not the Bow. Same reason I will never use Freestyle sights and stabilisers .

I test shot this bow thinking since my short draw (27.5) , it would be great . Shot ok , didn’t like the draw . Each shot was never the same ? I figured it was because of the short axle length. I reckon a lot of derailing happens due to people who turn their bow slightly to the side when shooting and they learn this habit being self taught using stick bows etc. Pretty sure they don't realise a compound should be shot on the vertical.

As someone who owns and shoots Mathews this has to be one of the worst bows they’ve made. Every Mathews bow I’ve owned or shot the grip was absolute GARBAGE. But this 27ATA is just absurd. You pretty much have to have a 25” draw length to be able to shoot it comfortably. Have the V3X and two biggest things I hate is the yoke system they use and the grip. Ended up getting a Hoyt Ventum Pro and love it! Enjoy your videos!
