Nice! For y'all wondering: - at 4ohm the amp doesn't activate any of the "smart" features that limit the sine wave amplitude. The output will go all the way up to rail limits, which is why clipping and dynamic results are very similar, because the limit is a physical wall being the rail voltage. - at the lower impedances, the amp will artificially "clip" or limit the sine wave amplitude to keep the overall power across the output section to around 3k. In order to limit, it needs to read the curent drawn initially, so there is a small delay before the reduction in amplitude is applied. The slow ramp up of the clipping tests allows this to work as intended. However the dynamic burst is so quick that the amp doesn't have enough time to apply the limit before part of the first cycle of the pulse has already happened. That's why you're seeing crazy dynamic figures. For those pulses, the sine wave is allowed to briefly for a fraction of the first cycle swing to near full rail limits ignoring the smart limit feature. On paper, if we ignore internal voltage drop this would mean: 3000wrms into a 4ohm load is a 109v sine wave, so that's where the rail limit caps off at. Put the same 109v sine wave into a 2ohm load and the amp will try to make 5900w 109v into a 1ohm load it will try to make 11881w 109v into a 0.5ohm load it will try and make 23762w This would only be the case if the amplifier was able to maintain a solid 109v into the applied load without dropping voltage internally, having the supply to support it, and without overloading the components and catching fire. Obviously these numbers are outrageous and there are many factors greatly preventing this happening aside from the component limits - the smart limiter kicks in after only a fraction of the first cycle quickly ramping down the sine wave voltage so the RMS of that cycle is far lower - also there is considerable rail sag under heavy load. But the reason that the dynamic burst power readings are so high is due to the voltage of the pulsed sine wave for the first part of it being much higher than the amp wants it to be. This will cause the amp to sound a bit different to an older amp that can just make the power straight up, because when the bass hits it will slap hard asf for the first quarter second and then seem to taper off into a lower level, which may or may not be noticeable.

Good info! I would be interested to see if there is a 1/4 second voltage spike to the subs perhaps with an analog meter. I wonder if any Smart 3 owners can comment on these amps sounding any different. Only the Taramps Smart 3 line of amplifiers would ever have this anomaly (if it exists) as the other lines don't have the "smart" electronics.

Great video, thank you. My recent purchase of the smart bass3 by Taramps confirms the lack of bass knob, kind of a bummer but the amp replaced my Skar RP2000 (which is a workhorse). However, being able to run a single sub at .5 ohms was huge for me. The new amp woke my sub up!!!! (Harmony Audio HA-ML18 1OHM). The cable included with the amp had a clip indicator though, that's a really cool addition so you can tune your system to clipping, then add a bass knob later after setting your gain and other settings. Worked great for me, perhaps not others. Edit: This little amp, at .5 ohms is absolutely amazing. Buy it.

@@kyleteal5888 Well, if we're splitting hairs here, technically RMS is a fairytale. Rms is root mean square. It is .707 of a peak signal, 1/2 of peak to peak. It is a measure of an ac voltage or an ac current. Rms is what amp manufacturers try to push as rms power. Power is voltage times current. So because you can only measure rms voltage or current, you have to calculate power. It is a function of the root of the squares of voltage and current. Lol. Yes I went there! Has me curious if with this BASS Smart3 amp I'll be able to eliminate the higher frequencies (voice, lyrics) from playing through my sub that I'm currently hearing seldom while using my old Smart3?? Also wanting to find out if this amp provides better cone control, tonality & deeper hard hitting bass when compared to the original model...

There isn't a single Korean board I would ever trade my smart3 bass for...feed it and it's a wonderfully amp.. it's hilarious when folks try and guess the amp pushing my subs .and jaws drop when I say it's this amp..

Would this Amp be too much for a 12" DVC 2000 watt Rms 2 ohm sub wired in parallel to 1 ohm?

Well I hear a difference between this amp and the smart 3 k I know the base one you can wire down a half an OHM but the smart 3K is a cheaper amp to buy so I'm just thinking well I hear a difference if not then I'll buy the cheaper one and not the bass

Wow Tara's really builds a good amp.... or Taramps build you and shipped you specifically, there pre-tested and insane custom built amp. Try buying one yourself off the shelf, or getting one from a regular consumer and show test. 🤔
