Current was strong on the bottom and it was slow. I jigged most of the trip until the end, when I switched to what others were doing (Live bait on top).
I didn't take any fish home today, but it was a good time practicing jigging, which is fairly new to me still.

I would keep the Bonita and cut long belly strips for mutton snappers and shorter ones for yellowtail and mangroves. Use smallest hooks as possible with a sliding sinker rig. I like pink andy 15-20 pound line for leader. I have been told by divers that the pink andy is the most invisible line once it gets down to the bottom. I understand that when you down size with light leader you will get broke off more but if your getting a ton more of bites it probably works to your advantage. I have caught 8-10 pound muttons on 15 pound leader in 50 feet of crystal clear water with a number two hook.You have to have a lot of patience and some luck and no freaking sharks around. Tight lines, really enjoy watching you fish, your a pretty darn good fisherman, your really turning me on to this jig fishing stuff, thanks.

Thank you for the kind words, but I always get humbled by other fishermen who are able to do what I want to do lol. I actually have a lot of pink Ande. Time to revisit them. Thank you for the suggestions!

I’m going on Wednesday for a full day, usually watch your videos before I go out to see what I’m prob gonna be catching… I’m hoping to get on some mangrove

Bottom fishing with bait was slow on this trip, but it should change any day now (From what I’ve been hearing). I know that they found Mangos recently and their hang was very nice. Hope they find them on Wed. In hindsight, I should have targeted King macks on this trip when they were running through and just gave them away at the end, lol. Tight lines!

You caught plenty of AJ’s, too bad they didn’t measure. You’ll get em next time. Some of those kings were massive.

@@theanglercrew7059 taking the boat out next week. Have no idea where to start but I gotta start somewhere. Probably try to round up some live bait first thing in the morning and then hit a near shore reef. I fished a little beach on the bay for an hour or so and landed a jack and a decent twenty something inch snook.

What size wire did they use?

I believe it was a #5. Sea striker makes King mackerel rig with a stinger treble hook, which is what some of the folks were using.

@@thomassmith5832 That’s a tough one because I wouldn’t recommend one over another. However, I do tend to go on OP more because it has more cabin space (Bigger boat) and I can book stern spots on the website. On OO, you don’t find out where on the stern you’ll end up until the day of. Other than that, I would say that the chance of catching fish is not much different. Tight lines!
