Agreed ! I was very pleased to see a spin on filter. However, I was NOT impressed with the size of the filter! It seems tiny given the oil capacity of this engine and the fact that it has two turbochargers. Fun fact : this is the same filter number as a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder found in older Camrys ! 🤣

I changed the oil in my Tundra for the first time today; the only additional thing I had to do was to deploy the "automatic" front air dam; the air dam is in the way of the bolts that hold the skid plate up towards the front bumper. I found a YT vid by searching for "Toyota Tundra + Deploying Front Air Dam". Your directions were spot on -- I didn't have any issues changing my oil. Thanks for the spiritual slant during your intro!

@YoYo-gi1uu those are some 10"x10" chunks of wood. For oil changes, I just put the truck in 4Low and drive up on the blocks. No jack or jackstands needed !!

Hey in my personal opinion if your gonna buy an new truck to prevent serious rust I'd recommend getting it washed especially the underbody constantly and if you can get the underbody coated with some kind of undercoating I like fluid film. Lastly you'll never be able to completely remove all the oil from your vehicle I change my 05 armadas oil in my driveway while it's on my drive up plastic ramps

Inox MX3 when you wash the underbody. I only do a major wash like that twice a year living in Slc. Inox keeps the rust off the welds. If I see the underbody protection deteriorate, I clean with a wire brush and reseal with rust inhibiting paint primer. Have a 2005 GX470 that's been running strong for years with no issues.

I change every 5k miles as well. Some modern oils claim to protect for 10k or more, but I change it based more on appearance. If you regularly check your oil, you will notice it go from golden to brown, dark brown, and finally black. I have found that even the best quality oils tend to turn black around 5k miles in most gasoline engines. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and God bless you!

Gas mileage isn't bad, better than Ford V-8 I would think. It's hard to speak to reliability since this is a brand new engine configuration, but if it's anything like the rest of the Toyota line it should be a really dependable truck. Thanks for watching and God bless!

Thanks for the comment ! I agree, all Napa Gold filters are manufactured by WIX and just re-branded for Napa - good filters! I've never used the vehicle manufacturer's fluids, I just assumed they were made by someone else. I do trust Toyota in general though, so I would expect "their" oil to be of high quality. Its funny how we choose different brands.. my dad always used Mobil 1, so I started using it 20 years ago. Cars, trucks, motorcycles, forced induction applications, etc. and I've never had an engine failure. I just trust it. That doesn't mean its any better or worse, its just what I know! Just curious, how do you know about the greater amounts of additives in the Toyota oil? I cannot find anything from Toyota about this. Also mobile oil is what they use in the nascar Camry cars. If you throw a link or something I'd like to read about it.

@@HumbleHotshot By greater amount of additives I mean greater ppm of several elements that the motor oil consists of. For example, TGMO has 700+ ppm molybdenum while Mobil 1 has less than 100. Just check the data of the ingredients and their amount and you will see it. However, the downside to TGMO is that is made of GTL stock with no PAO in it. It means after certain miles it will start burning oil earlier than PAO based oils. I would never run my vehicle on TGMO more than 5K miles on freeway and 3K miles in city. I managed to buy a vehicle form one degenerate who used to have 7-9K miles intervals with TGMO and now with 180K miles on the odometer the engine is so filthy, that I had to do 8 oil changes for the last 15K miles to finally clean it to the normal level. Also, I have an oil burn and I need to do some additional procedures to clean up sticky oil rings.
