I have to say your review is a little misleading This MDX a-spec has 20 inch tires and not 19 inch as you mentioned The engine start /stop can be configured to stay off if you wish. I have this Acura and I love it in every aspect including the push button shifter and the true touch interface and it has actual buttons for most daily functions.

I don’t get the back end at all. I was a Costco waiting to pump gas in one of these was in front of me and it was just the most strange looking back, especially given how beautiful the front is.

Great video. Bingo: If you have to send a video on how to use the infotainment--you're doing it wrong! Absolutely. I own an Acura and would like to have a new one but that push button shifter and infotainment system are holding me back.

What came first?? The clumsy Infiniti center stack or this "new" Acura...Red does not overcome the black plastic or design...In my o. Thanks for the review!

Well, I test drove the top model (Platinum in Canada) recently (July 2021). The MDX is quite lively, noticably handles better than its competitors and the interior is fantastic. I was biased going into my test drive that the Truetouch Infotainment was a dealbreaker for me, it really looks like Acura lost the plot here. But using it was not as bad as I thought. Once set up, scrolling radio stations and NAV are fairly easy, which can be controlled through the touch pad, steering wheel or voice commands while driving. Even my wife could operate basic functions from the passenger seat easily on the touch pad. I was actually quite surprised. Although I wish it was still a touch screen, I think, most owners would get used to it fairly quickly. Always a compromise somewhere, huh?Now my foremost concern is their 10-speed Acura brand transmission reliability (considering Acura's history) which may not be fully understood for a few years.

hello, i also test drove this ‘22 mdx aspec, and i can say it blew me away. regarding the infotainment, it’s kindly pretty ok for me, wish it is touch screen but it still fine with me. as a honda accord owner, they are using the same 10speed trans. and i can tell that it is very reliable and durable.😊

@@rf_v6 appreciate the testimony on the 10 speed tranny. It's my biggest concern now but your info is helpful. I've driven toyota last decade. Extremely reliable vehicle and don't wanna lose that if I go MDX.

@@andyp7787 at first when i got my 2017 accord for 2018 model it was my concern too, but 4years later i can tell you my 2.0T accord is a sleeper. the 10speed is superb and super reliable. and also even some of german competitor with same 2.0turbo engine is no match with my turbo accord. and when i learn that acura gonna use this on their product i know that it will be a riot! 🔥

@@rf_v6 that's really good to know thanks. Only other issue with the 22 MDX is historically, some users have reported glitchy infotainment experiences (like last couple model years). If they addressed that too, then I may be good to go on it. Though I really wanna drive a Type S before I make a final decision. Nobody has any yet, may be a bit longer.

@@andyp7787 yeah, im with you on this one! but “that” issue is with the ‘19-‘21 rdx owners (sorry rdx owners) and after 3 years, acura fixed this issue with their ‘22 mdx. the touchpad of ‘22 mdx is more responsive and smooth than the ‘19-‘21 rdx.

In the good old days you test drove on a gravel wash board road. I for one miss that particular part of the test drive as it was a real test of quality. Ah yes--Phoenix the smoothest asphalt roads in all of America. No rattles or squeaks on those roads!

No surround view camera because you had the A-Spec. Since Acura considers that as a sport trim, they save things for the highest trim level (Advance).

@@TestDrivenTV agreed. I love my MDX but you shouldn’t be forced to go for the top of the line model at almost $65k (as of 2023) for items like a backup camera or a heated steering wheel. There are cars that cost far less that come with these items.

2:58 it’s a press car not an actual production model. It didn’t go through quality control checks and was rushed out for the press fleet. You won’t find any of those issue on the actually production models that are for sale.

I bought a 22 a spec in red. Quality control of fit and finish, rattles, and other issues has been unacceptable. Add to that transmission hesitation that reminds me of turbo lag when making slow turns at intersections and inadequate air conditioning, I’m looking into lemon after 2 months.
@AFCompany
@AFCompany 3 жыл бұрын
@@mwlivingstoncolorado it rattles? Sounds like you got a bad model. What does inadequate air conditioning mean it doesn’t get cold enough for you? I know exactly what you’re talking about with the dead spot while turning slowly. Experienced that in a TLX before.

@@AFCompany The AC blows cool, but never cold. Compared to a Lexus, Subaru, and Toyota we own, the A/C is blowing 10-15 degrees warmer than my other cars at 2 inches inside the vent. So if A/C is set at 65, the cabin never cools lower than about 78-79 degrees so fan just keeps blowing hard but never really cooling down cabin appreciably. And same for ventilated seats. Taking it in this week. The left window rattles over any pavement crack. A clip holding the right lower black exterior molding under the passenger side door came off and had to be fixed. The panel gaps are terrible. At least 4 different infotainment error messages keep coming up daily. Sometimes the trackpad is not responsive for navigation. The navigation is very slow and crashes for 1+ minute if deviating from recommended path. The stereo sometimes takes 3 minutes to turn on after the car is turned on. There are other issues too but the killer for me is the A/C with summer in east coast - hope they can fix that to start with.
@AFCompany
@AFCompany 3 жыл бұрын
@@mwlivingstoncolorado ya I’d take it in. You may have a bad model. Never had an issue with the A/C it’s actually gets too cold sometimes. Just make sure the actual A/C is on and you don’t just have it set to a low temperature. Also recycling the air cools faster. If that’s not working definitely take it in. In terms of tech it’s a first generation year and this is fairly normal across all brands. They normal have software updates and have ironed out glitchy tech after the first year. How did you not see the panel gaps before buying it? Did you preorder it or something? None of the ones I saw at the dealer had the same gaps as the press cars do.

@@chadhaire1711 there are some pretty good cars made in the US I don’t really think that would be the reason. Machines put together majority of the cars anyway. You didn’t see panel gaps prior to purchase?

The whole package is very nice, quite competent but considering their budget there are some unnecessary flops. The front grill deserves body color matching, 18” wheels for benefit of more side rubber would be more sufficient to mostly bad roads and SUV purpose. The floor inside and seats back side should be sufficient plastic - family is about kids who love to footprint and essentially spread whatever sticky all-around….The touchpad - like really? Seriously? Have Acura management mistakenly ordered volume of one decimal place more and now must stuff it everywhere until selling whole supply? The central infotainment screen should have adjustable angle by at least two inches in all directions. The sunroof should have internal wind-resistant sunshade made of thick flexible netting to unable sun/insect protection with opened roof. Where is solar panel behind sunroof powering A/C when auto-start system shots engine down at lights? And the external panel gaps - is this preproduction unit or do they go down to Ford quality? Hey Acura guys! Kia and Genesis are right behind you ready to grab the market….come on!
