The 2022 Acura RDX is the third generation of the smaller of two Acura SUV models, taking a place as the little brother of the hot-selling 3-row MDX. In the smaller RDX, owners get two seating rows, room for 5, and a machine built on the most extensive Acura redesign in over a decade. The 2022 model year sees the RDX fitted with more standard tech, a retuned suspension, a quieter drive, and enhanced looks inside and out.
When it launched a few years ago, the latest-generation RDX signalled the beginning of a new era for Acura. Today, the model has achieved boatloads of recognition for its safety, tech, and overall value in the segment. In fact, it wasn't long after launch that the RDX was setting sales records, attracting younger and more diverse buyers to showrooms, and helping drive month after month of sales growth. Today, the Acura RDX is one of the most popular luxury models on the road, and a machine that's boasted double-digit conquest sales, meaning that many RDX shoppers are switching to Acura from other brands.

A few notes: The platinum elite package increases the sound deadening. Lower models are not as quiet. Availability at this time is poor. Two month wait at a minimum. After March 31, Acura will increase their prices across the board by $1100, most likely due to high demand. I was really looking at one, but availability and pricing were a concern.

I recently traded my 2019 Aspec for a 2023 Elite Aspec. Smoother ride, more quiet . Looking at replacing the Goodyear RSA for Pirellis or Michelin all weather tires...

The 2022 base RDX is by far the best value in this segment. Pros: Great sporty design, large cabin and cargo space, comes loaded (panoramic sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, wireless apple carplay/android auto ect..., much cheaper than anything else with similar options (12k cheaper than Lexus NX), great SH AWD, 272 hp, great resale. Cons: ride is a bit stiff The trackpad is also not a con in my opinion. I prefer it over a touch screen where you get finger prints everywhere. I wish they had a control wheel like BMW but it's not a deal breaker. Best thing to do is go take one out for a test drive and decide for yourself. You won't find anything close to this for the money. If money is not a factor then the BMW M40i would be the best option. It's way faster and fun to drive with similar dimensions and a better infotainment system than the RDX but is also 25k more.

I own a 2019 RDX. It took me months to get a feel for the vehicle. It's an excellent performer & handler, BUT ... None of the factory automatic shift modes are acceptable. The 10 speed trans is always a gear behind, & too low, leaving the engine lugging at low RPM, & bogging & surging its way through corners, due to awful electronic throttle lag. The only acceptable shifting mode I can tolerate is the Sport+ Sport Manual mode. It's the only healthy-for-the-engine way to drive the vehicle. I put a performance exhaust on my RDX to break the silence, & add some tactile feedback to the driving experience. This played havoc with the audio system's interior sound cancelling, so I had to unplug it (behind the kick panel by the driver's right calf). This gave me the kind of feed back I craved, & revealed how bad the factory shift modes were for the engine. It's obvious they are heavily biased towards MPG, not performance. As I said before, the sport manual mode is the only one I now use. I owned my last vehicle (Honda Element Manual 5 speed) for 15 years, so I was interested to see how all the driver-assist technology, ubiquitous on modern vehicles, worked. What a disappointment. For the most part they are awful on the RDX. I turn them off, & you would think that that would be the end of my frustration, but no. The vehicle refuses to remember my settings. Every time I start up, I have to go through a pre-flight checklist. This is my every startup checklist: Turn the seat heaters off, by pecking 2 to 6 times at the dash. They turn themselves on, whether I want them or not. Push & hold the stability control, until it beeps, to turn it off, & keep the throttle from becoming unresponsive. Push the idol shut down button, no hold, no beep. Push the drive button twice, to select sport mode, and then the downshift paddle, to select manual shift mode. I have to repeat this step after every reverse as well. Long sigh, and now I'm ready to go. Stop at the corner store, & I get to do it all again, another deep long sigh. In the first couple of weeks of ownership both the collision avoidance & the auto adjusting cruse control took turns trying to get me rear ended. At least they stay off, & don't turn themselves back on, after every startup. The rain sensing wipers never quite wipe often enough or not as often as desired. All that said, I would be in love with this vehicle, if it had a clutch peddle, & the manual out of the Honda Civic Type-R, & I could get rid of all the automatic "intelligent driver assist" electronic crap.

Awful fuel economy. Dull boring design. Massive turning radius. Trackpad sucks. Bumpy ride. Old display. Dated technology. Awesome quality. Reliable. Good resale value. Excellent storage space. Terrific handling. 5/10. Lexus 350h $4,000 less expensive and saves $2,000 per year in fuel costs. Consumer recommendation: Lexus 350h Premium. ✅

Stop being such a sheep and following the most biased Consumer Reports. The 2022 RDX is bar far the best value in this segment. Comes loaded and is 12k cheaper than the ugly, noisy, and overpriced Lexus NX.

@@richarddawson5836 CR is pure data and facts. Nothing else. Advertising irrelevant as it has zero influence. ( Unlike biased American car magazines like Road & Track and Car & Driver) The Acura is old technology with rapidly declining sakes and as such is being completely overhauled.

@@billyrock8305 Consumer Reports is NOT pure data and facts. You are either a sheep that believes all media or delusional. Acura has all the safety tech included in their base models that most other manufacturers force you to pay for higher trims to get. I would also rather have a "dated" trackpad then a useless "hey mercedes" that never works. Acura is basically a rebadged Honda for North America and have been making reliable engines for decades. I have owned most of the German brands and some have incredible tech built into their cars/suvs. They are amazing to drive but also have terrible reliability that are total money pits. If you think Porsche is really second in reliability as Consumer Reports indicates than be my guest and buy one. I've gone down that road. Maybe then you realize what a scam many of these CR ratings are.

@@richarddawson5836 CR is 100% facts. Data and facts only. Sorry if they gave your car crap marks. Don’t take it personally. German cars are the best when it comes to performance and some of the worst in in reliability and depreciation. (Porsche the exception). I’ve had them all BMW, Audi and have a Porsche. Honda is incredible. The RDX is nice but dated and being totally gutted now for a PHEV and EV. It’s simply a bad choice right now.

@@billyrock8305 I don't take what you say personally. It's clear you are not a free thinker and mindlessly believe Consumer Reports as the bible. The fact you think Porsche is the "exception" in reliability shows you are talking out your ass and have never actually owned one. Just because something is written doesn't make it fact. If you think buying a non hybrid, non electric is a bad choice than have fun waiting an hour to charge your Tesla and watch your battery drain sitting in a cold parking lot. That's if your poorly designed door handles will actually open. Unlike you I've actually had pretty much every luxury brand there is and when it comes to reliability, simpler is better.
