For 2022 Genesis has upgrade the G70 with new drive modes and better looks. Even if this is the greatest sedan available today, does it really matter in today's crossover world? We all need to write to Genesis and ask them to add the 3D gauge cluster. It's available in the new G70 refresh in every market BUT North America!! Great review as always.

I'll write them when the little eye tracking box in the cluster is implemented better. I drove the GV70 which has it, that little eye tracking box is so strange, protruding out of the cluster and honesty just doesn't look good. Once they implement that better ie. hide it in the cluster itself, dim the two red lights so they aren't noticable, then I'll have reason to complain about the lack of a 3D cluster in any of their vehicles. Drive a GV70 and see for yourself, it doesn't look good and the trade off isn't there IMO.

I was looking at the new CT4 V...if you want even half the features of this car... Its north of $60k. Caddillac nickle and dimes the crap out of you. This car looks great, im leaning more towards the GV70. Little more overall room and 375hp 3.5TT

Idk if it’s only my G70 but when I use my apple CarPlays gps it doesn’t talk. Is that suppose to be normal ? Also the wireless charging is not working idk if I have to change a settling to turn it on

This is crazy to me since i have the 2020 Hyundai Palisade. The gage cluster changes colors with each drive mode and is all digital, so the cameras left and right show up on the appropriate sides. Don't get why they dumbed down a more expensive luxury sport sedan compared to my Limited Palisade. Guess i'll be waiting for the 2023 model

Sorry to nitpick, but in the voice over for the trunk you gave the dimensions in cubic inches... Even at 10.5 cubic feet that is a tiny trunk!!

I drove this car at the Genesis dealer - had the dynamic pack. Amazing torque and good balance, but the driving setup felt a lot softer than I'd like with dive on turn-in, the engine note was flat, transmission a bit slow and the steering was dead - I also drove a veloster N at the neighboring lot and refinement aside, what a difference! Context - I drive a Mustang GT PP with stick and wanted to check out a performance 4 door for family duty with a similar feel. Stuck with my Stang as my kid can now get in backseat himself but will check out the CT4-V blackwing.

Your wife isn’t the only one. Before I purchased my car I looked at a G70, IS300, A4 All Road, Regal Tour X, and WRX. Then after ALL that, I went a purchased an AWD MAZDA3 Premium sedan. Completely out of left field, I know.

I prefer a good analog gauge. A digital display will be dated in 5 years. An analog gauge will still be functional.

@@layne4376 G70 was below average rear legroom and boot for the same class. I have test driven it and rejected. Went for Lexus ES instead last year. G80 was above my budget

@@chuckhpnwx Obviously the c class but really any merc sedan. Don't get me wrong this is obviously a fantastic car. I just wish hyundai would find their footing with their design language. The gv80 looks like the Bentayga. And yes i know same designer but that guy has done other work that didn't look like a cheap knock off of previous work. Again really not trying to hate they've obviously exponentially stepped up their engineering game. But man hyundai has, for decades, been synonymous with mercedes knock off and this is a stark reminder of that.

@@jbmazhar2000 I think the GV80 looks are opposite of your opinion. It looks to me like he did the Bentayga first and got it right when he designed the GV80, I to admit some prejudice, I have a GV80, but I think is is far better looking compared to the Bentley.

@@jamesmakibbin5278 Yea admitting to prejudice is probably right, you should also admit yourself to an eye exam LOL if you think the GV80 holds a candle to the Bentayga. Regardless of what it "looks to you like", the reality is Hyundai recruited the Bentayga's designer to bring some class to their upmarket brand. Unfortunately for Hyundai he just made a cheap looking version of the Bentayga. With that being said the GV80 is an excellent Crossover in its own right but looking like a Bentayga knock off and being compared to a faaaaaarrrr superior vehicle is going to work against it.

Of what practical value is Launch Control? You could NEVER use it during daily driving. You could NEVER use it on city streets (legally). How often do you find yourself on an empty country road?

Nice to see a channel named “driving sports” do something that’s not an off-roader. Overall good presentation. Background music at beginning was distracting and a bad fit.

I have to be honest, I don't like the refresh. It doesn't appeal to me aesthetically. First, that crest grille is yuck. The split headlamps are inelegant (they should stretch around much further). The pre-refresh G70 looked much better. And I miss the fog lamps. Second, I like that the pre-refresh G70 could be mistaken for a Bentley or Aston Martin. Borrowing aesthetic sensibilities from other brands is a Good Thing. Third, the rear end of the refreshed G70 is butt ugly (pun intended). The pre-fresh G70 looked much better. Fourth, the refreshed gauge cluster, which is half physical and half digital, is unappealing. Make it all-physical or all-digital but *don't* do half and half. (The blind spot imaging could've been placed in the center display.) Fifth, I liked the boomerang side vents on the pre-refresh G70. They gave the car a unique look. The refreshed G70 loses that uniqueness and could be mistaken for any other Genesis model. The 2022 G70 is still an excellent vehicle but it'll never get the same kind of love from me as in the pre-refresh G70.

My experience with genesis has convinced me that their new car warranty support is simply Awful! Four months and counting to repair my G80 bluelink/nav system and no end in sight!

Ryan, in my opinion you are still spending too much time on the infotainment system(s) - a car is bought for driving. In fact it would not surprise me if the government will in the future mandate that infotainment will need to turn itself off after say 10 MPH - as it is, far too many people are distracted by their mobile/cell phone causing accidents. A fine of $1054 AU here in Queensland Australia if caught talking/texting on one's mobile/cell phone - which is no different than looking for your coffee shop.

Genesis is making some wonderful progress. Honestly though at the price point they need to really upgrade to get their launch control right. BMW, VW, Audi all have much better systems. That car should be running mid to low 4s to 60. Nearly 10k less you can get a Golf R that will run circles around it, albeit probably not nearly as reliable...(coming from a previous mkvii R owner).

It is a lovely looking car no doubt. Much better looking than the distasteful pouty botoxed grillage on the Germans. However, I think at the price … why wouldn’t one pick a Lexus over this ?

@@larrymormon6525 Here in UK, every time a Lexus IS serviced at a Lexus service centre the warranty is extended for another 10k miles (after the initial 3 year, 60k miles warranty). This extension is up to 10 years/ 100k miles.

@@jahanzaibrashid3183 This is subjective obviously, but the Genesis interior as well is not that big of a departure from “dated”. Also, the next model year ES has finally moved to a touch screen. Note that overall appearance of ES interior is a lot more clean. No protruding dials for climate control without resorting to touch screen. The optitron display in the driver console is particularly unobtrusive and “soothing” in day to day use. But, like I said this is subjective and since this is the internet… I am right 😊
