2022 GMC Sierra no Crank/Start #5 Service Steering Column Lock

Fourth time the truck didn’t start after bing at the dealer for two weeks the second time for the same issue. The only difference is on the remote start attempt I’m getting a service steering column lock message.

So are you saying it was a bad starter? My dealer claimed that didnot fix the same problem I had

Double clicking the start button fixed mine. The exact same thing was happening to my truck 2021 gmc. Foot on brake and just double click the start button

This was after me going insane trying to figure out what the hell it could be. Simple as double clicking the start button

What did you do that problem sir? Because I have my customer car Cadillac Escalade 2023 have the problem like your car.

Once the dealer finally had it happen to them they diagnosed it as a bad starter. I was pretty annoyed they wouldn't research something as simple as that without it happening to them even though I sent them several videos.

Did you figure out the problem? I just got the same message on my RST but it still turns on and drives.

I did not. Still at the dealer. I actually should label this differently. It’s actually the 5th time. I just never got a video of the 4th time. What year and truck do you have? I saw there was a TSB for 1500’s out there for the issue.

Did you find out what was wrong with your truck? My truck is doing the exact same thing and is currently in the dealership. I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado, 1500. It gave that exact code about the steering column.

The dealership diagnose my truck with a bad battery? Doesn’t sound right to me but whatever.

My truck started doing that today , did changing your battery work. ? I have a 2021 Chevy 2500

@@kevinvelazquez168 Yes, the dealership changed out the battery. Seems to be doing fine.

I did. Took a while to finally be diagnosed. Once the dealer finally had it happen to them they figured out the starter was going bad. One of my big complaints with GM dealers in my area is that they won't diagnose anything unless there is a code or they experience it. You can show them videos all day, but unless it happens to them directly, they won't take the time to figure it out. I think it's also crazy a starter is bad in the day of ages where starters are working constantly left and right.
