Everyone is entitled to an opinion and personally I thought your toy run video was valid. My local group did a toy run last week and it was only for the purpose of delivering toys and they had a great time. There's always one bad apple that spoils it and social media just highlights this/ makes it worse. Well said, great vid and have a happy Christmas mate.

I'd like to clarify that it is the South Motorcycle Riders Association of Tasmania that puts on the annual Toy Run event in Hobart, it is not an MRAA organised event, however the MRAA is a regular supporter of the event.

The 1 time I went on the toy run here I was warned about riding in the group because of the clowns so I went my way to the drop off point without incident so I agree 100% whith what you said Andy, I get teased all the time that I ride a Suzuki but it has been a great bike.

Having been a long time member of the MRA I fully support them and the cause they stand for ie. motorcycling for all to enjoy safely. Having said that I haven"t participated in the ride part of a MRA Toy Run for several years due to the gradual influx of dickheads over the years who have no regard for other riders and no idea how to ride in a large group. I go to the ride start point, Victoria Park racecourse in Adelaide, drop the toys off have a coffee, admire the bikes and catch up with a few friends then go for a ride in any other direction than the Toy Run route. Keep up the vlogs Andy and your opinions mate. Honesty beats bullshit any day.

Only went on 1 MRA toy run in 1988 with a couple of mates, I have a very wary view of group rides in general and only really ride with people I know and then I'm the one riding well within my capability. As far as a real motorcycle rider goes, not too sure, I rode almost every day for 14 years, then got a family and car, but still had a bike, and still have 2, I've lived and worked overseas and have been on the receiving end of racism and I've found people are prejudiced and accepting in any and all countries, you get good and bad in all sorts. Bike riders sometimes need to have a spoon of cement and harden up, we ride for the enjoyment of being on the road we're a mixed tribe of all sorts. Keep looking after each other.

The toy runs may be full of good intent but fact is it attracts once a year, fair weather worriers that don’t know how to ride in a group. I’ve been on a few runs but never again. Their struggling to keep numbers as mainstream media just concentrates on the negative stuff. Great opinions Andy. You’re just saying what most experienced riders are thinking. Any advocacy group that prefers to ignore the responsibility they have to non-motorcyclists is not worthy of support which is terribly sad. Suggesting your video is in any way comparable to the Fathers Day massacre is simply disgusting. I’m getting pretty bloody fed up with wankers telling me about whatever happens to be offending them on whatever particular day it’s gets them out of shape. I agree with you Andy, I have been riding bikes for fifty years and I cringe at some of these bikers, they scare me to death the way they ride. It seems to me that a lot of them get a camera and have to prove they are great riders, to me a great rider is someone who can read the road, see dangers that could happen and stay safe, not pull wheelies.

I joined a bike club, mostly sports bikes riders, all friends outside of the club as well as within the club. We'd go for spins and beers, that's it. Then some 'v-twin riding' folks joined and within 18 months the club disbanded thanks to the politics and internal power struggles that come with the 'mentality' of the new members. Awful pity, I'll never join another club.

Once a group gets too big it creates disagreements and therefore factions. One faction will follow one charismatic leader and others will follow others. It was always a fight for resources so that your children can thrive and survive. The problem comes when the DNA gets too close and we have to seek out other tribes so that our mating doesn't cause anomalies. This is human psychology/biology and it's how we have populated the planet. It is why one tribe doesn't trust another as you say, and why distrust exists between groups. It's why wars are fought, whether in reality or on social media (yes, it's false, but our reactions to it are inbuilt for the reasons above). Look at our "leaders" from the past. Moses, Jesus, Caligula, Hitler, Bloody Greta. They all have a "vision" of the promised land in times of hardship and will lead their followers to it even though it may not exist. It's ( according to Oppenheimer, who may, ahem, have been biased) how the human race came out of Africa and spread around the world. We were seeking the easy life, and eventually found an abundance of food and shelter at the coast. Colonies became large and prosperous, outgrew it and had to move. At that point we see behaviors from individuals which look crazy, but some will follow and the new tribe will either flourish or not. There can be no such thing as "racism" as we are all members of the human race, but be careful of the loony you are minded to follow.🙄

Boy Howdy, it looks like you poked a stick in a hornet's nest. However, you may have stumbled upon a moment that only comes around once in a great while. It looks like you may have sorta, kinda opened a line of communcation between yourself and the director, manager or whatever of your MRAA. This could be an oppertunity to work with him to better educate some of those 'narrow' Vee Twin riders and maybe find a way to get some better relations with the non motorcycling public. If nothing else, the old guy that was hurt, when he has healed up, invite him and his family to a couple of events. That said, as I mentioned in the comments following your last video, I cannot agree more with you about group rides. They can be dangerious as demonstrated here every year in the charity rides. With the best intentions, the idiots do show up.
