In 2022 no other driver was really as talked about and gave NASCAR fans more moments than that of Ross Chastain. Chastain, whether intentionally or unintentionally was getting involved in crashes, skirmishes, and plenty of rivalries throughout the NASCAR Cup Series. With that being said though he was electric and managed to leave jaws on the floor and just about everyone speechless at one time or another. This is an attempt to merely put these all in one place, this is the 2022 Ross Chastain incident counter.

It's kinda weird looking back at all this stuff. There was this narrative the whole season about Chastain being a wrecking ball on the track, and yeah, he had a few moments where he apparently suffered from a sudden and inexplicable rush of shit to the brain. But taking it out of the context of the time and looking back with fresh eyes, he was just sort of there in the wrong place at the wrong time a lot of the time. Or someone tried to do him dirty and spin the narrative after they realized he wasn't gonna move and spun off of him. There was an extra car running up at the front for a lot of the season where he wasn't supposed to be, and other drivers expected him to give ground in positions where they wouldn't.

I know a lot of people hate Ross for good reasons but damn he is the most polarizing figure in the Cup Series right now. He might be what we needed to help build this sport back up. We need personalities again. At least I hope that's what happens. He does need to clean some things up but I hope he doesn't lose his aggressiveness in the process of cleaning up his driving.

My new favorite driver ever since Jeff Gordon retired. Ross is so old-school. He is exactly what the sport needs right now. And I hope NASCAR recognizes that and doesn't try to restrict him too much on what he is and isn't allowed to do on the track.

You know the sad thing is Chastain cost Truex a spot in the Playoffs at Dover. If Truex finished third or fourth which is what they were battling for, Truex would’ve made the Playoffs by 4 points over Blaney. But he would’ve been eliminated in the Round of 16 with his DNFs from Darlington and Bristol.
