My theory is that Mattel want to do is focusing on making AEG related merchandise like Push Along And Motorized, my guess is that Mattel wanted to focus on making AEG Merchandise instead of Original series products because TWR 2022 is a original series range so maybe Mattel is not interested of Making original series merchandise.

My theory is that they’ll go fully online and after they do we’ll get possibly a few more engines and that set with Terrance which is the set most likely to release. I already know that online, these are gonna sell in like 2 seconds and a lot of people won’t get them for a WHILE but honestly I just hope that the line CAN stay afloat both during the transition to fully being online and afterwards I’m just hoping for some announcements before the end of the year and some new releases hopefully either later this year (which is so unlikely) or next year

The first thing they need to do for TWR, is to unify the models, so that they all look like they were made with the same parts. We don't need 7 different wheels, and all the detailing should also be consistent. And give Rebecca her 3rd tender wheel.

This doesn't surprise me. Mattel has been making decisions that hurt Thomas more than help since late 2017, and they made several new bad decisions this year alone. It's bad enough that they disassociated themselves from the very community that watches Thomas' show and buys his merchandise, or that they disrespected Britt Allcroft's wishes to keep the spirit of the classic series alive by blocking uploads of classic Thomas and Shining Time Station episodes from KZfaq, but the only new model they've released for the 2022 Thomas Wooden Railway line in 2023 is the Day Out With Thomas model, and it's August as of this writing. If I were running the 2022 Thomas Wooden Railway line, I'd have had new models of characters like Duck, Donald, Douglas, Oliver, and Toad released months ago because I know they're what the fans want. If Mattel isn't going to do anything really useful with the Thomas license, the least they can do is give it to a company that will, like Orbrium. Orbrium is one of the leading wooden train systems I jumped ship to because they make their products specifically with Thomas Wooden Railway in mind despite not having the Thomas license as of yet. Some of their bestsellers are their express coaches (due to the official Thomas Wooden Railway ones being discontinued, rare, and expensive) and their lines of unpainted engines and rolling stock for the fans to customize as they please. Not only that, they released several promising new products this year; new unpainted engines, train sets involving a medieval castle and a national park with a spiral mountain, and a track maintenance crew, which I did a Wooden Railway Discussion on. I started a petition to get Orbrium to acquire the Thomas license from Mattel so they could make Thomas wooden trains great again, and as of this writing, it's up to 69 signatures.

Mattel need to take one long hard look at hornby tt:120 and realise direct sale is not the way to go, expanding buying options is So, little timmy and his mum walk into asda (uk walmart) and they look at the toy aisle and he sees anything to do with TWR as it looks cool and has been praised on mass, the next week they go in to source a percy to go with thomas but suddenly its gone, they are then told about the direct purchasing only thing, now the mum may well be OK with online shopping, as they have done it before, but aren't really too keen on the tricky send back process that would be at cost to them, so timmy is told they can't get it anymore, timmy is heartbroken, and it leads to one less customer as how can you trust that anything else you get him will still have compatible stock next time It's a stupid idea, like I get online exclusives but having it all online is just a surefire way to lose customers, especially when it comes to not being able to examine it and see if it's all intact and not heavily scratched dented or broken, this is why hornby's TT:120 line is now being sold in retailers, not enough people trust hornby to get a product to them safely and would rather go through a retailer as it means should it not work you can return it and get a new one or a refund

I'm sure it's not that people don't buy them, but more that it would be cheaper to just sell them exclusively online and ship them to customers on demand.

If they do relaunch it online, I'm hoping for face variations for the standard release of the engines. Like the Figure 8 set Thomas face used on the standard release like it was presumably planned for.

Good thing I stopped watching this show ages ago. I was 6 when I watched my last episode of Thomas. I don’t know how this adult fanbase still exists but god bless your dedication even if I don’t understand why.

I'm still not sold on the idea that they're switching to only only as of yet. I'll only see it as true when Mattel announces it officially. Otherwise, I would just call this rumor and speculation.

Depressing, yes, but I couldn't feel anything for it. The community act of being excited for thomas merch and buying it brand new has been dead and dying for, hell, maybe almost a decade now. Mattel's existence within the fandom has ceased for a long while now. It's something I've excepted long ago, with the complete death sentence all good qualities of trackmaster faced in 2014, and in 2015 seeing my childhood line, the diecast models, be poached and pathetically crumbling away into sadder and sadder iterations until it finally got a mercy killing with pull along. It's a tough thing to accept. I've been there. hey, atleast mattel is making AEG toys really nice. Way for them to rub salt in the wound, lol.

Honestly I couldn’t care less about the fate of this brand. The models are too overdetailed, the wheels are horrendous and the faces look like actual emojis. The new Wooden Railway always sucked and people only cared about it because it was better than Thomas Wood and better than the merch Mattel was making right before it.
