2022 TM en300fi First Trail Test

2 жыл бұрынTake my new 2022 TM en300fi out to ride some slower technical trails.
Suspension is a little stiff for slower stuff, but adjusting the compresion helped a bit.
also noticed that the clutch felt a bit heavier compared to my 2017 Beta 390 RR-S. I later found out its only by less than a pound though. I know the new 2022 Beta's have an even lighter diaphragm clutch.
over all, the TM en300fi with its TBI fuel system has great low end torque and can lug at very low RPMs without stalling. this combination made it easier to maintain traction in the wet and slippery conditions.

Awesome video! More TM 300 fi 2022 enduro videos. I think the music in the background can be avoided, that engine sound is the ‘music’ that we need to listen xD

Thanks a lot Glenn. Really appreciate the feedback. I just got back from the Odessa WA Desert 100 where I did a 40 poker run on Saturday and a 100 mile race on Sunday. The bike did amazing, though the suspension is still a bit stiff on the slow rocky stuff. By the end of the race I had large open blisters on my palms which made using the clutch very painful. The TMs great low end power was a life saver, just lugged up the hills without a bunch of clutch work. Very happy with the bike though! Was the only TM out of 966 racers though.

Just finding your channel and wanting to see more. Great video on enduro trails. I'm on a 4 stroke riding similar things and might go 2 stroke next time.

My other trail bike is a 2017 Beta 390 rr-s. Really like the bike as it has great low end torque, but does flame out and stall easier than the TM en300fi, but also requires less clutch work it seems. THE Beta also weighs about 20-30 lbs more though. I'll have to see about doing a comparison video between them.

Good stuff! Plenty of arm pump to be had going up Tooler😜 Love going back down that way at the end of the day. Its like a long mtb downhill run, super fun!

Totally agree with you. Tooler is super technical or difficult, but it just keeps going. Probably doesn't help that it's normally one of the first trails of the day when I ride there. Excited to get back up there and ride again. Blisters from the D100 race need to heal, and the TM needs some basic maintenance first though 😆

@@dtr_downtoride I had a tm a couple of years ago. Fantastic bikes. Very expensive now. I just got a Beta 300 RR two stroke race addition and I can tell you between those bikes they are awesome bikes. Italians know what they’re doing.

@@boerplaas388 I was leaning towards the Beta 300 rr race edition originally, but went with the TM because the 22 was TBI and I would have had to wait for the Beta to arrive. Would love to ride a Beta 300 rr to compare it to the TM.

Thanks Steve! I should have added some more to commentary to the end, but I wanted to get this posted as I have more footage and input from the Odessa Desert 100 I just did in WA. I ordered padded shorts after this ride learn my lesson 🤣 They were a life saver for the 100 mile race 👌

The Beta 300rr race edition is also a beautiful bike. Was originally leaning that way but wouldn't of been able to get it until June. Really happy with the TM, besides an issue with the ECU I just had. Waiting to get the bike back and I'll make an update vid.

Great video thanks 4 sharing! I am considering getting a 300 bike. Have you tried or know how the TM en300fi would compare to the Sherco 300 SEF?

I have rode the Sherco, i'd say it has a little more low end, as they are carb bikes. They do feel heavier, and vibrate much more then the TM, though. This TM has one of the smoothest motors I've ever felt on a 2 stroke. The Sherco will also have a bit more aftermarket support compared to the TM. I was really concerned at first about being able to get parts for the TM, but i'm finding buying parts from Europe online is easy, and really doesn't take much longer than most any other online retailer.

I agree, a TM 500 2T would be a monster! I could only imagine trying to hold onto something with that much power.

Thank you so much for making this video! After watching yours and PNW video multiple times, I've put a deposit down on a '22 en300fi. My only concern is the few comments I've read about the TPI acting up and causing some issues. Can you tell me if you've had any issues w/the TBI? From your experience, should I be concerned ? Thank you in advance for your reply.

I haven't really had any of the power valve reset issue that the TPIs seemed to have. I did have something happen to my ECU. Turned the bike off and then it just didn't want to do anything. The shop sent my ECU out. They think a file got corrupted. We'll see how everything goes once I get it back. Really love the bike besides this one problem so far.

@@geoffbybee7125 Ive had my bike for three weeks now. My ecu did the same thing as DTR, hesitate right after start up in tight, slow technical stuff with many stops and starts. If I'm moving fast with not a lot of stops and starts, no problem. I replaced the stock battery with an antigravity ag-801. I suspect this has solved the hesitation problem but won't know for sure until my first today with the new battery. If you still interested after today, let me know. I'll report my findings.

Great content! Rode with my dads 22en last weekend and man what a screaming bike! Where did you get your pipe guard? Have you found a spark arrestor solution for it yet?

I got the pipe guard from Get dirty dirt bike in CA or USA.cross-shop.com. I gave them a call and they sent me the pipe guard. I'm pretty sure it's a 21 guard though, not a perfect fit and was tricky to make work. Everyone else is saying 22 guards aren't out yet. As for spark arrestor, I put a Fisch moto in it. Seems to be running fine with it in.

@@neim78 I was concerned also, because I watched the same video as you about the spark arrestor. I talked to the guy who made the video, and he said that it might have also been due to riding at high elevation and running straight race gas, said he wish he would have tried 92 octain first to see if there was still an issue. Have to remember to pull them out and clean them though, otherwise they definitely will cause running issues at some point.

I don't have the wet weight for the TM, but is feels lighter than the other makes for sure. Especially compared to the Sherco 300.

Never too late to start again! great exercise and the kids would probably love riding too. the TMs MSRP is just right in line with KTM and Husky. it think MSRP on TM is $10,865 I also really like the Beta 300rr, but they are only carbureted and I really wanted the new TBI fuel injection.

Get 10mm clutch master. Everyone puts a 9mm on from the factory. The 10 is better in every way. Longer engagement and softer pull. It will be marked on the bottom.

How does the TM compare with the 22 Husky TE300i ?

I'd say it has better low end, and the stock suspension on the TM is better. My brother had the suspension done on his TE300I and is really good now. I'm not a fan of the stock TE300I suspension at all. Sherco 300 has really impressive low end power, but stalls easier and doesn't lug as low as the TM.

Great bike. Considering this bike for myself. Debating on carb or TBI. Know the carb version has more low end then the TPI bikes, but hear the new TBI is supposed to bring back the bottom end in FI bikes. Any input appreciated

I would love to try the card model out to compare the low end. I can say it feels better than TPI bikes, but the Sherco 300 I rode seemed to have a bit more low end. I'm guessing the carb model will still have a little bit more low end.

between sherco 300 2T 2023 or tm 300 2T 2022 which is the best choice for amateurs?

TM is the best quality built bike in the business and are all ready to race but owadays they are all customer 'friendly' and you only need to understad 300's 2s machines are very strong machines. I would choose the one with a shop close to you even if it is other 300 2s brand. Sherco is carburated and TM is fuel injection like all KTM group.

Great question, all the 300 2T have a decent amount of power. The Sherco has a different throttle cam so it feels a little more mellow, as you have to turn the throttle more, But the Sherco is also heavier and vibrates a lot more. the TM motor is awesome and the smoothest 2T 300 motor out there. The power is incredible, but also very linear since it uses a electronic power valve. If you don't want to worry about a carburetor, get the TM if you don't care about having a carb and want a little more low end power, get the Sherco. I think Cavenon has a good point about a shop near you though.

@@warrenstemphly5756 it's where I first saw a TM dirt bike and became super interested in them. Was in there getting parts for my Beta 390RR-S and was like "that is a beautiful bike, who makes it!?" I thought TM was a new brand, but they've been around since the 70s. If you go in there, tell Frank to sponsor me and lend me some other bikes to do reviews on 😂
