Any time! It's part of the job. People assume that we are not objective just because we cover only BMW news. But we actually have to tried harder than others to be extremely objective. Also, keep in mind that some of the people we interview are friends, yet we still need to ask the tough questions. I also know when to push, but most of the time, if they dont wanna answer, they just simply won't. So no point to waste time.

@@bmwblogZandervoort Blue with the Cognac leather and Carbon Fiber interior. Red calipers with the black rims. Couldn’t afford the carbon roof or seats, but I’m certainly not whining 😉. Really appreciate your content; and love BMW’s. Keep up the good work👍🏼

As far as colors, they should offer Portimao Blue and Skyscraper Grey. The plant in Mexico should be able to make those colors as it does for the 3 series already.

Man I wish I could've gotten my 21 M2C manual in Portimao Blue. I didn't love Long Beach Blue like I have with so many other BMW blue's, and for me it came down to either Sunset Orange or Black Sapphire, and I went with BSM, only because I could see myself getting tired of the Sunset Orange (I had a 1M in that very similar shade, got tired of it after a few months, have had the BSM M2C for 2 yrs now and still not tired of it, aside from the extra maintenance).

I agree in some ways, but not everyone can afford 2 cars. So some people really just have one car and they want versatility. Not everyone is rich

I was really excited to hear about the HAS question but was very disappointed with the response. They dodged that one, but not sure why. Maybe a supply chain issue for the HAS system, who knows. Im upset I won’t be able to order it installed.

Hope you guys reply. I have my deposit for a m2 hea manual but I’ve been searching high and low for a auto m2. I drove a manual g80 m3 and hated it (I’ve been driving manual on every sports car I’ve owned) is it any better than that? It felt like the zf just fits the drivetrain so well

You have to understand that they can only answer what the communication plan allows them. They are trained before taking to media and they stick to the points. Yet, we need to ask and hopefully we get answers

An informative, yet very predictable interview with people in the game of not wanting to give away too much as far as future plans. As a current owner of a tuned M2C, I'm glad you asked the burning question for me - will there be an X-Drive version? When all its siblings (M3/4/5/8) offer an X-Drive, it's hard to argue why there wouldn't be one when performance and handling is what these cars are primarily about! For me to update (leaving looks aside), AWD would have to be mandatory and should you want to hang the tail out etc.... then simply go into the menu and program it out. The best of both worlds IMO.

@M2 Comp ok, what performance gains is there? 0 to 60? Who gives a shit. Weight is the enemy of a performance car, it's already overweight, and you wanna add more for 0-60 bragging rights.

Hi guys! One question: I am getting the G87 by the end of May (one of the first in Italy), are the 963M Wheels available just as a “center lock” option or is it possible to have also the ones available for the G80/82? There is quite a bit of price difference and on the M Perf option list only the center lock one are available as of now :) Thanks guys for the always great content!!

Not sure. We can ask.But in my opinion, if you only see the 963M as center lock on the ordering sheet, then that's all we get.

Buon per te! Io sono troppo indeciso su cosa comprare ma sono più orientato all’m3 competition a trazione posteriore, divertimento ma anche spazio e comodità, spero di fare una buona scelta, tu prendi la g87 come daily o solo per qualche bel weekend?

@@Alex1988it ciao! Avevo ordinato la G82 ancora ad agosto ‘22, consegna prevista a marzo. A febbraio il dealer mi ha informato che sarei andato molto lungo, probabilmente tarda estate. Volevo rinunciare all’ordine, ma sono riuscito ad avere la M2 pre-configurata da concessionario e quindi me l’hanno gentilmente ceduta :) I componenti meccanici sono praticamente identici, solo compattati in un copro più piccolo. Infatti per non avvicinarla troppo alla G80/82 hanno depotenziato l’S58 e l’hanno appesantita (ad esempio: cerchi non forgiati, che cambierò subito 😉). Dipende dall’uso che ne fai; per me è la terza macchina dopo l’aziendale e la Lotus Elise, quindi non sono alla ricerca della praticità 😃 L’M3 sicuramente è più comoda, ma anche più impegnativa (circa 1.000€ di Superbollo in più). Comunque sia ti devi armare di pazienza in entrambi i casi! Forse, se l’M2 è davvero così ottima come la descrivono, magari iniziano anche a scendere un po’ le M4 o M3 usate.

@@johseb1 Grazie per i suggerimenti Sebastian, ne farò buon uso, io sto cercando una sportiva cattiva e da portare occasionalmente in pista, ma anche vivibile tutti i giorni, senza escludere anche viaggi e scampagnate varie. Ho scelto l'm3 per questo motivo e sì, sono consapevole dell'oneroso ed immorale superbollo che lo stato italiano pretende per 510 cv ma non riesco a trovare una scelta migliore sinceramente. Non a caso hanno tirato fuori dal cilindro la g81 m3 touring proprio per quei pazzi che vogliono il massimo comfort e spazio, senza rinunciare ai traversi😁 Mi fa molto gola il pacchetto con i carboceramici ed i sedili in carbonio, 18,000 ceffoni e passa la paura😅

I know this has already been discussed ad nauseam but x-drive is a must for those of us that will need to use the m2 in winter conditions. Entry point premium cars have become very expensive and it is no longer economical to own a second car for making it through the winter. In my opinion the automatic should have been x-drive at the onset; that setup would sell like hot cakes. I think the product development team misread the room.

@@blackfish4674 You can read between the lines :) but there is very little doubt that BMW will pass on xDrive for the M2. Look at the M4 and M240i

It isn’t a must as rwd can be used in winter conditions. Winter tires go a long way and I drove my 350z with shit tires and no traction control through an ice storm.

Some of the questions were "dodged" because ultimately speaking if the M2 is made too much like an M4, why would anyone pay the premium for an M4? Where I'm from, an M4 would cost me a whole £30,000 over the M2. Definitely not worth the extra premium already, so imagine if the M2 was given all the colour options of the M4, the 360° camera, etc. I personally don't see the point in the +£30,000 price premium for an M4 already, especially considering it's the same engine we're talking about so a quick Stage 1 tune after the warranty runs out gets the M2 up to and likely beyond stock M4 specification.

I don't see them as a mini-M4. For example, in my case, I buy the M2 because of its size, not for performance compared to M4.

I would have liked to hear their comments about the elephant in the room, weight. For example the M2 weighs 800 lb more than a Porsche Cayman GTS.

Hey BMW, could you imagine having enough cars at a lot to test drive and compare these different personalities? I know about the current environment but maybe a few more local promotional events. Big decision with no hands on comparison.

@@bmwblog The down shifts were unbelievably slow and boring and there is no longer on the up shifts, the DCT was like driving on the verge of death this new 8 speed is way to boring and safe to be in an M car!

didnt answer the question on the "improvement of the steering"? way to beat around the question. Allow me to answer the question: The steering feels better because the M2 is a shorter wheel base than the M3/M4 ...we used the same system as those big brother models to keep cost's down, thank you.

What is going on with BMW… they sent two guys who seemed to super nervous but also lacking confidence in there own products. 😂 I don’t understand.. they indirectly avoided answering all the questions he asked them.. BMW next time please send your top engineers..

So easy to judge. First of all, their native language is not English. So they are always nervous about that. Second of all, they can only answer what the PR people lets them or the big bosses. You can't just go into an interview and reveal all future plans. The car is great, doesn't need anyone to promote it. You'll see

@@bmwblog this is true, but you asked a lot of questions, and they just seemed very nervous. I’m part of BMW CCA here in North America and I’m around a lot of guys from corporate at times so I totally understand that. But as you know, and I know the M2 will never be built to cannibalize the M4.

I miss Biermann with his deep technical insight. These guys are just marketing guys and their answers are very disappointing.

Incorrect. Biermann was replaced by Dirk Haecker. He's the boss of engineering. Markus is the project lead engineer for the M2. And Daniel works on the product side. So very different roles. And I can promise you this: Biermann wasn't going to answer in more detail, unless he was allowed to.

@@bmwblog It’s a shame they aren’t allowed to tell more details. I think that is what the customer want to hear. “Back in the days” Biermann telled everything in detail about the development (like how they introduced hard subframe mounts) torsional stiffness numbers, cooling system, aerodynamics and suspension components when the F8X and the F10 M5 where introduced. That is what makes me drive a F82 M4 now. I’m interested in a manual M2, but if they fit bigger cast wheels instead of smaller but lighter 18/19” forged and can’t tell real details I am not so sure anymore.

@@willemb8689 I think we covered that already. Look at our M2 Playlist. There is a video with an M engineer talking about the M2 in detail. Also, Biermann talked in detail in that workshop video we posted 10 yrs ago. When we went to the Nurburgring and into their testing garage. I don't recall any other.

@@bmwblog First, thank you for responding and all the effort of course. Yes I have seen the M2 video, and again disappointed in his answers, he looked bored and not very helpful to answer real potential customer questions. Question about differences between DCT and ZF8 speed, there are no cons he said… what? There is no comparison with the passion and the engineering knowledge Biermann speaks in the older interviews. I am not convinced in the Motorsport passion about the M team anymore.

Not as impressed with the answers provided by BMW M team. They went in circles and dodged a lot of the questions. If it's for cost saving purposes, just say that instead of spending 30 seconds on the circle. We understand this is an entry point to M and will not put the M2 in the shadows if components are not totally shared with the M3/M4 due to cost. The question on "why not get a M240i and add a few mods" is great. I had a M235i and with a tune and downpipe, it is faster tan stock N55 M2. That's enough for someone who uses it as a daily commuter/street driver who wants to go fast on the straight. But if you're after the "M" prestige and having better performance around the track, then the M2 may be better for you. At least that's how I see it now that I have switched to a '21 M2C with the new M240is on the road and being able to do 0-60 in high 3 seconds (to justify my higher purchase price lol).

They haven't dodged too many. Essentially the small M cars, 1M and first M2, came from the M3. It's quite normal and I prefer that approach than to sup up an M240i.

This M2 is priced the same as a 500hp mid-engine V8 Corvette. Who in their right mind would choose this over a Corvette for the same price? Raise your hand I wanna see what a head like that looks like

@@bmwblog Yeah one is an entry level sports car and the other a bonafide Ferrari/Lambo competing supercar. For same price. Guess which one most people would choose. No way the M2 can hold its weight against the Corvette while asking the same price. This will be a flop.
